They go for like $35k in the US..
Not new, they don't. Base price is $40K. By the time you option it decently, you're at $45K.

Prior to getting a WRX STi recently, my plan was to get a 135i or a 1M Coupe ($50K) in a couple years, but BMWs keep going up and up in price, so I decided to be more economical. In 4-5 years I may rethink my car again.

But the 1 series M Coupé is so amazing..

This is true, they've started to get a little out of hand. $40k and you still have to drop $1,500 to get leather seats, and more money to get heated seats, premium sound, etc.

$50k by the time you're done, which simply isn't worth it IMO.

I wish I could miss the days of delete options.... AC? No thanks...Stereo? nope, rear seats? no....etc...
It wouldn't likely save you any money, because turning standard features into options just makes manufacturing that much more expensive.

Yes, they will squishy and not inspire confidence at higher speeds, but that's not what they are for. If you want dry performance, you'll have to compromise on snow + ice traction. There is no ideal tire for multiple situations.

brand new tires need to be broken in as well. give them a good 2k miles to get a little stickier
As a follow up...

Having put around 800 dry-weather miles on the Blizzaks, a marked improvement is noticeable. It seems wet weather traction is also improved over standard all-season tires, and from a standing stop, less slippage in the rear. The road noise, which wasn't bad to start, has decreased, and 75MPH on the interstate feels fine. Overall, very happy with 'em so far.

Still waiting on some snow... I'll go find a nice open parking lot to really test their abilities. :D

I installed Blizzak LM60 tires on my WRX STi two days ago. Snow? Bring it on!!!!

Get vids of 2 STIs tandem drifting through the snow with you and your wife's car ;-)

And yes, the M3GTS.... how so very damn awesome.

However, what is this thing called snow? Why would you not want to run Extreme summer performance tires??? :p Side note: I was reading on Autoblog about ice-racing/autoxing. Oh hot diggity damn that would be amazingly fun!!! Don't know where/if we even have that in Cali, but I am not going to buy some ice-racing tires for just 1 event unless it's decently close.

2012 Hyndai Elantra. It's awesome!

That thing should be pretty unstoppable, between the AWD and Blizzaks! Eager to hear of your snow-ventures. :D
One of the reasons we got a STi for my wife is that she works in a hospital and absolutely has to be there, and on time, come hell or high water. We wanted a car that will do the job. I hate trucks and SUVs so those weren't a consideration.

I drive the silver Acura TL. 2005 with 106K miles. Just had the timing belt, spark plugs, water pump, and many other little things replaced per manufacturer's recommended service at 105K miles. Its never been running smoother- seems like Honda engines just get better with age.

Dad drives the 2006 Z06 and the 2007 GL450. Sister drives the 2009 C350. The Z06 was the 483rd off the production line for that year. ;)

I love the TL's probably one of my favorite cars out there. That includes the current version and the last model like yours. To me it's one of the nicest riding cars out there and just a great design.

I love Honda/Acura.

Isn't the 135i Coupé pretty expensive? Trying to get one in Germany...but I can get a decent 3 series BMW for that price.

Yeah, you can buy a bloated fat pig of a 3-series for that price. :p

I test drove a 135i with 7-speed DCT last weekend and that thing was a BLAST.
