Ever since my thread about Audi reliably yesterday, my interest has been rekindled in Mini Coopers.
Was that 29MPG with aggressive driving or just what you would consider "normal"?
I don't know if it snows by you, but if it does, how did your Mini perform in the snow? I'm looking to replace my Camry...
29 MPG with normal driving. With more aggressive driving about 22-24 MPG.
As for snow, it is only FWD, so don't expect much. I only ever had all-seasons on it for winter, so it wasn't great. With snow tires, it should be OK. Now I'm in a STi (AWD) with Bridgestone Blizzak LM60s, so I say, "bring the snow on!"
My MINI was a great car -- the handling was crazy good -- but in the end I wanted more power, but with more power the torque steer gets worse an worse. I had 230 HP in a 2600 lb. car and the torque steer was a bit much, so I ended up not enjoying it as much as I'd like. I love that the STi pulls like crazy and stays headed where you point it.
Yes, I had it. It's not a real LSD in the sense of what you might be used to. It's called EDLC - Electronic Differential Lock Control. The MINI does have a good traction control system, which would help with snow and rain. If you don't mind torque steer, I recommend getting one. They are a blast.Well, I was told and I also looked on the Mini site that it's available with a Limited Slip Differential. Did yours have this? I'm trying to find out if it would actually make it "good" in the snow.

I had mine for 3+ years. I got tired of it and was ready to move on. But I tend to get bored with my car after a few years, M3 being the only exception yet. I will probably grow bored of my STi in 34 years and find something else.
Hell, I doubt I can keep anything for 34 years. 3-4 years, maybe. It will surely be a classic then!
Coming from a Subaru to a fwd car I now dread snow. I was real excited when snow would come when I had the Subaru. Find an empty parking lot and have a blast.
I'd say neither is better than the other.
Well either the wheels are too big or the discs are too small - don't think I have ever seen so much space around rear discs ........
Nice trade. I love the Chevy Omega / Holden Commodore line. Not really a fan of those taillights, but the car as a whole is very nice. Congratulations!
Traded in my GTO today on a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT with moon roof as the only missing option.
Awesome looking car there (well, both!). Have always loved the G8... Initial impressions? I've never driven one myself.
Interesting... I suspect that's a widespread/common issue with the Generation IV V8 than, assuming the dealer wouldn't bite.I have a friend with a G8. He runs hot and cold about it. Its been enough of a problem he wanted to trade it for a 3-series, but the BMW dealer wouldn't touch the G8.
