Actually it is a Scion, a division of Toyota Motor Company
If you own a 45,000 car. 14500 base for this car is WAY too high.
I really wonder about that one but I cannot dispute it. Are you saying this because Lexus is another division of Toyota???
It should, it's 20% taller. Yes it will seat 4 people comfortably, and 5 if you sardine them in. The Volvo S60 seats 4 comfortably, but it does it in style.
And the Volvo gets 30 MPG. 2 key points about this.
1: The Scion gets 103 Horsepower at 6000 RPM The Volvo however gets 208 horsepower at 5000 RPM.
2: It does it in STYLE..
The one thing you did not mention was the safety ratings.. I do not know the ratings for the Scion but I can guess that the ratings for the Volvo are much better.
.All that being said, I am not really a big fan of Volvo. I just really hate when people jump on a high horse about a car.. It is a CAR. And a god ugly one at that...
I would much rather prefer an XA or an TC Coupe

A 'Division' of Toyota MAKES it a Toyota. Look at all the parts on a Scion, THEY ALL SAY TOYOTA.

All I was saying is that when it comes to the 'bang for buck' ratio, find me a car with better fit and finish under 20K.

You say the Volvo has style....That is YOUR Style, not mine. The xB is a Love it or screw off car which means: I love it, SO SCREW OFF.

Read Five reviews for the xB, and then Five reviews for a Volvo...trust me, the xB will fare much better...oh...and you just jumped on a high horse about yourself, and your hate for the xB...Which makes you a hypocrite.

All of the parts inside the Pontiac Vibe say toyota as well, Does that make it a toyota? No it's a Pontiac. Lexus automobiles are made with Toyota parts, Does that make them Toyotas? No they are Lexuses...That being said The Scion is a Scion not a Toyota

To me both the Tc and the Xa are much better cars. My personal fav in the value wagon line would be the Toyota Matrix for just a little more than the XB . As far as good value cars for under 20K you are right, they are few and far between, and the Scion line is one of the better lines.

I am feeling the love, really I am.:) Actually I am not a big fan of the Volvo and as I stated in an earlier post I was out of line. Just had the spat with the SO and was out of sorts.. I apologize

I did read the reviews and from what I can tell it is the under 28 crowd who are the big fans of the Xb. Seeing as how I am 40 I can see how I do not fit the target age group. I apologize once again, maybe I am an old fart but I just don't like it. JMHO...

Yeah, I've something to say about those inconcivably large trucks like the Hummer, Exersion, Pick-up's with many tires (and headlights everywhere) ... Please don't buy them, or use them unless you have a really good reason, incase you have not noticed gas is not cheap, and we are having problems with suppliers of Oil. Thus, having a Hummer to take your self to the store, and to support your large Ego is HORRIBLE , really if you don't have a reason for a big car DON'T waste the money on it, there have been studies that because of people that wastefully use large trucks and cars in the US makes everyone else pay "$0.0672 more per Gallon" and I DON'T like having to pay more to support someone's ego. Really, that my not seem like a lot of wasted money but really 18 Gallon tank fill-up thats $1.20 once a week, and thats $4.83 per month, and $58.06 per year, yes its not a lot, but I don't want to have to pay because of someone's waste do you guys?

actually, i think that people should be able to spend money the way they want to

At the Petrified National Forest in Arizona last week...........

I can see what you mean, and this is a very controversial topic, but in all reality being that Oil is in its currently price I don't fell it right people ought to be wasteful and cause others hardship because of their waste. I mean some people are working at minimum wage and its $5.15 in Indiana so at say only $10 of gas a week, that all adds up... And to be honest what good (besides Ego Boosting, and the occasional use) would such a vehicle do for the normal American, I am not proposing we limit them in a way, but I feel they should just be a bit more respectfully to the less fortunate. Gas will probably never be cheap ($0.90-$1.50 per Gallon). Also that is MORE pollution, and its all for waste. This is just my two cents...

Wow. I never knew that. Doesn't that make it hard for the police?...

Not really, because the police are almost always chasing from behind. And if they weren't chasing but had a front view, a rear view is usually soon to follow. Not to mention that most chases result AFTER the police have either followed the driver (and gotten their plate number), or pulled the driver over (and gotten their plate number). We don't have too many Mad Max drivers over here so it isn't really a problem not to have front plates.

Ah, good points. We have red light cameras and some permanent speed cameras that use the front plates but I suppose it wouldn't be too difficult for them to be rearranged to stare at the backs instead. :)

I like Scions, they are made by Toyota. Often, they are sold at Toyota dealerships, right alongside other Toyota products. The engines in a Scion are shared with other Toyota models.

The whole Scion lineup is pretty stylish, obviously not for everyone, but the line has been an overwhelming success.

From a practical point of view, the Scion line does exactly what they were designed to do, and meet the needs of those they were designed for. Not only that, but they do it very well, with a high level of quality.

I can understand not liking them, they may not suit your taste, but it's just rude to berate people who do have one.

Nissan is going to introduce the Cube to the US market pretty soon, a whole lineup to compete with Scion in fact.

Hmmm... Subaru or Toyota?!

You gotta admit, the Subaru Baja is a pretty cool vehicle. The nice thing about the Subarus is that they have all wheel drive. A friend has the Outback and he gets everywhere with it. Snow, mud, nothing stops him. BTW, Do you own a Xb, or do you just like them?

Comparing a Subaru to a Scion isn't really fair. Scion's are garbage compared to a Subaru. It's like comparing an Audi and a Kia.

I'd place a bet that a scion will outlast a subaru in long term ownership. As far as quality goes, The interior of the WRX is just as cheap as the scion lineup.

Yup. That's how it is in California, too. But... heehee... cops don't seem to care about adorable little girls in their adorable little MINIs. So many I see on the road don't have their ugly front plates. :D If my good luck streak runs out, no real harm done--- mere 'fixit' ticket. Sigh. But they're so ghastly in appearance!

Well I have 3 different vehicles. 2 cars and a motorcycle.

Highway 101's a great drive.

My wife and I currently have three cars. The 1994 Ford Explorer XLT my wife got after she got into a bad accident in 1999. (She was overly paranoid after the accident, and went for the largest vehicle she could afford.) The 1999 Hyundai Accent L I bought with cash in 1999 when I got hired at Intel. (It was the cheapest new car money could buy, and I paid for it with only one month's 'spare' pay.) And our new baby, our 2004 Toyota Prius. We got that when my wife was pregnant, because neither of the other two were particularly safe, in reality. (Regardless of being large, the '94 Explorer really isn't that safe.)

I'm on my PowerBook now, but when I get back on the big Mac, I'll post pics.

I'll also find the 'before and after' pics of my ill-fated Ford Escort GT I had in college. (That was truly a frightening car. El cheapo American car frame with overly powerful Japanese engine. I should have known it would be trouble.)

Here are the pics of my car in Japan as I don't have a digital camera to take pic in Aus.

Car cost $2000AUd (~$1550USD) It's a Celica GT4 (Alltrac) ST-185

Enjoy

Wow man I am officially jealous. I have a 1990 celica GT-S and I love it. Only has <90k miles. I want to do a 3S-GTE engine swap so my car can have 230ish hp. Thats alot of power for a fwd 2800lb car. As of right now it has about 130hp and can keep up with most cars I see in daily driving. Haha would you be willing to sell your hood on your GT-4

I have a 2000 GT-S. :) 180hp (dynos prove toyota underrated the HP and it is actually around 190hp) at around 2600lbs. But I think the main difference is I have almost 100k miles on it and my car is falling apart. They just don't make celicas like they used to (in terms of long term reliability).

OK, back to the Scion real quick. My brother in law and I got into an argument last night about this car. I am asking someone who owns one. For insurance purposes is this car classified as an SUV or a Wagon. I have searched the web and some call it an SUV, some a wagon, and I have even seen some say it is a mini van???
