Do most of you outright buy your cars in cash or do you lease/finance? I always save up and buy my cars in cash. Sure, my car is a 6 year old clunker, but its gets me from A to B just fine.

My car, a 2000 Mazda Millenia. I got it a few months ago from mom. She sought out greener grasses, a 2005 Accord.

Checked out your car, noticed "ULM Campus" at the top, thought "nah, it couldn't be...", but darned if it wasn't. I just got my master's degree there, well, four years ago. In geology, in Hanna hall, but the geology program is gone now...

Let me know if you want to know some of the best places to eat. There are some that are rather...out of the way.

I like how you've hidden the Hyundainess out of disgrase.

Actually, its a damn good car and I'm not ashamed of owning a Hyundai. My parents and I both have Hyundais and they're great cars. We can't afford the BMWs and Mercedes Benzes everyone here seems to have. Besides, those are the exact badges you'd get on a Tib in Korea or on some models in Canada.

I've lived here all my life, so i've pretty much got that eating thing on lock. I appreciate it though. Yeh, you should see the campus now... its crazy all of the stuff that's going on. All new housing is going up and it's all in the theme of the new library. They're even thinkin about adding a parking garage. And geology is still there... just not as popular as it used to be...

I have a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner. No pics as yet. Looking at buying a digicam but they are still too expensive. Any recommendations on a 12 or greater megapixel camera?

I greatly admire your frugality. My parents and grandparents paid cash for a car. Once he purchased a car on credit, just because he wanted to improve his credit rating. Because of my wife being a visiting nurse and the deductibility of the car we have leased them. Our first car in Boston we leased, then extended the lease for an additional 2 years. It was a good car, then we ended up purchasing the car. The car lasted 11 years until it threw a rod. The second car, my wife didn't like as well. So it was leased for 5 years.

I was only there for two years, so you got me beat :)

I did like the library, it was the best thing on campus. They can't go wrong with that. I hope they plant some more trees, though. It was pretty barren. On of the presidents many years ago didn't like trees and had them all cut down.

They are still teaching one or two geology classes, but the major is gone. My advisor has retired, and another fellow has moved over to education, neither have been replaced. Two more are almost ready to retire, and the last professor is actively looking for another institution. There was a big, nasty blowup in the Geosciences program a year or two ago.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread............

Those Hyundais look really good.

I'm not sure if this will work because I've never posted a picture before but this is a pretty similar picture to what I'm driving at the moment except that mine's blue. It's technically not mine, but it's a work car, thankfully we all get 5.7-litre V8s! :D

For all the non-Australians in the audience, it's a Holden. I've never taken it past 245km/h but I'm told that 260km/h is quite possible. It's on my to-do list! :D

That is a very nice winter scene picture. I don't blame the car at all for taking the winter to rest, a tarp would have been nice.

Is the car just used in good weather?

Just used in the 3 seasons of good driving...it's fine in rain. I've considered a cover but previous ones I've had didn't really help keeping water off the car so I felt like it didn't make any difference. So far as I can tell the snow doesn't really do anything. The car originally came from Texas and the first winter we were here I had a great picture of it completely covered with nothing to see but the Texas part of the license plate. It's on my computer that I can't get anything off of yet or I would have put that one on due to its comic value.

My '01 Jetta VR6.

Of course, I have my white Apple sticker on the bottom left of the back windshield.
