I have the grey on my black Pixel 3 XL. I hate cases but I really need them

I had an x-level thin black case on my 2 XL off and on. It was recommended in the 2 XL thread. It was inexpensive, thin and had great grip. They didn't make it in white or frosted, which is why I went this route. If you want thin and grippy, it might be a good option for you. (assuming it's the same material used on the 2 XL version)

No lip protection though...

So... Made the last payment on my ancient Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 edge today (main line) and I'm ready to ditch probably both. Consolidate my devices. We have a spare dummy line (just use it for data) on attending and I'm thinking about porting my number back to it. I've had Sprint the last few years.

The question comes to: use my red OnePlus 6 for my main line, saves some initial upfront costs, and easy to maintain root and updates or pixel 3 / XL or OnePlus 6t

Ugh I really don't dig contracts or locked phones. The last update on my s7e added a new babysitter that tells me an app I am using is using permissions... Yeah and having the phone on drains the battery and you get wet when you take a bath :rolleyes:

Lol anyway aside from using Sprint mostly for texting because of better signal at work, I think both the phone and company are long in the tooth.

Sorry, I guess this post is mostly thinking out loud:)

I haven't paid too much attention to OnePlus since I got my 6 last year. It was like, "yeah I got one! Meh... Now what?"

I almost always reach for my XL 2 which I use on fi. I like the idea pixels have radios for all major carriers.

I probably won't order anything today... Probably o_O but unfortunately I think most of the good pixel sales I have missed out on until they fire sale them next year :(

---

Edit, my rational side talking...
I could always just use the OnePlus 6 I already have for the main line and pixel XL 2 for my dabler and save upwards of 1100 bucks o_O:eek: since neither the newer phones seem like that much of a upgrade at that price point.

I had both and got the 3 XL for about $100 more than the 6T .I much preferred the 3 XL and probably still would have even at full price. The 6T is great though if you don't mind a few compromises .

Has the 6T camera improved to the level where you can honestly compare it to the Pixel? The last OnePlus I had was the 5 and the camera seemed fine on the phone screen, but zooming in revealed a horrible watercolor effect.

Nope . Anyone who says otherwise is in denial.

I love the hell out of my Pixel 3 Camera. It's the one thing that is leaps and bounds better. Sorry to mislead anyone.

A slight change of idea, my mom is talking about ditching AT&T all together and hopping on the Google Fi wagon! Which I would be for. Fi seems to work a bit better in our usual places then AT&T does and its a heck of a lot cheaper. If she goes this route, I may just port my main number to my XL 2 fi sim and maybe upgrade to a Pixel 3 / XL a bit later on. Kind of save scratch this way too.

I could have lived with the 6T camera but not the weak vibration motor. I missed several calls because I never felt it.

Yours is definitely not the only complaint about the vibration motor. Seems like that's one of the components where they've opted for the cheaper price.
[doublepost=1546642393][/doublepost]Oh I do need to find some decent WearOS device so that I can move my main SIM back to the Pixel 3 ASAP. Driving with the iPhone is dangerous when I need to put on some music instead of podcasts. Siri is completely braindead when it comes to controlling Spotify while Google Assistant does a decent job as my personal car DJ (requesting songs with Finnish titles doesn't quite work yet). Seems like I might get something working with Siri if I wrote some Siri Shortcuts for it, but I'm not convinced about wanting to do that when Google Assistant does the job without additional tinkering.

There is not a single watch running Android Wear that's anywhere near the quality of an Apple Watch. But I don’t know how much I can blame Google for that when Qualcomm can’t be bothered to make an actual chip for wearables.

Yeah well Qualcomm finally came up with SnapDragon Wear 3100, but by the looks of it manufacturers aren’t exactly rushing to utilize it.

The Snapdragon 3100 is just the 2100 with a co-processor. It’s still a 28nm chip. It will still run the same. It will just get slightly better battery life. It is just a chip from 2014 with some small tweaks.

Jeez I still get that on the latest iPhones. My husband looked at a beautiful photo he took of our Christmas tree on his XS Max and it compared favorably to one taken on his new Pixel 3XL...until he zoomed in to compare detail. Yeesh. :confused:There is a difference at least in medium to low light photos.

He’s loving the fact he could get cell signal on the 3XL inside the office at work. He loses signal on his Max in several of the rooms that are deeper inside the huge building. Overall he likes how the Pixel does things and even prefers much on it to his iPhone but he did have it crash on Android auto a few times that frustrated him and almost made him put his main sim back into the iPhone.

Ultimately I do think he will go back to the iPhone. He always does. But he’s enjoying the Pixel much more than any other Android phone he’s tried so far. He even prefers it to a Samsung. I’m a bit shocked about that. He especially has thought highly of his S9+.

He says as always he wishes he could make a Frankenphone that combines everything he likes from iPhone and Samsung phones and Pixel and Huawei and leave behind the things that aggravate him. Eh don’t we all!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I cannot wait until Google magically makes a smart watch as good as the Apple Watch. I like how Google is making the phone less important than the ML that happens both on it and on the servers.

My husband had a blast casting stuff from his phone to our Samsung tv last night. Hey who doesn’t like funny cat videos! :p

He said iPhone can do this with an app but it was just so easy and straightforward on the Pixel. I did it once with one of my older Samsung phones but it made the phone very hot. The Pixel 3XL stayed cool.

I’m starting to have a little bit of 3XL envy.:D

But Snowball is still a very capable phone. Functionally they’re so close. I just admire the display on the 3XL. Very nice!

I played with my brothers 3XL today and I have to agree about the screen.

I was very impressed especially compared to last years 2XL.

The 3XL screen definitely gives my Note9 a run for its money!

I would expect Google to struggle with a smart watch. I would imagine it is hard to do "watch as a vessel for software" simply because the interface is so small. They'll be able to do it, but hardware matters a lot more.

They need to fix two things, only one of which they can and apparently are. I would love for a HRM as accurate as 97%, like the AW supposedly is. Another thing is something I don’t know if they can do and is .... the chipset. Imagine a 7nm watch SoC from somebody not Apple. Qualcomm isn’t going to do that anytime soon, they don’t care.

My Pixel 3 XL might be my favorite Android phone ever. I'm not talking about best/fastest/most features etc. but favorite. Up until this phone the Nexus 4 was my favorite Android phone. It was cheap, slow, and had a crappy camera, but man that phone made me love Android. I am almost tempted to try and find a functioning one just to save for nostalgic purposes. It was ahead of its time with it's glass back. Just loved it!

The 3 XL is just marvelous. I used the camera a lot over the holidays and it is ever bit as good as people say it is. I'm using some $10 Amazon clear, soft TPU type case because the fabric is slippery and it also made my skin crawl. I know it sounds weird but touching it with my always dry hands (even though I moisturize) was like nails on a chalkboard for me. I'm sure there's a word for it but it made the hairs on my arms stand up every time I touched the thing.

On another front, my wife bought me an iPhone Xs for Christmas. She knows what a tech geek I am and she knew I got the 3 XL. But she also heard me mention a few times how much I missed my Apple Watch and at times, my iPhone. So she said she got it for me so I can have 2 nice phones. She won't let me sell one, even if I wanted to. I know best, so I will be keeping both for a decent amount of time at least. The Xs is really nice too. It really is nice to have one gigantic phone (3 XL) and one more pocket-able phone (Xs).

Now I'm torn on which phone to use everyday! I'm almost tempted to carry both and just use hotspot on one. That's how much of a geek I am.

Edit: Here's a 3 XL shot of my cat standing on her tail.
