Not sure if this is an Android Q exclusive thing, never noticed before, but my Google search bar keeps displaying a football across and over the 'G' in aid of the women's world cup!
Very cool. Even if I do have no interest in football, women's or men's! :p

I think it will grow fast. Supposedly rockstar is on board. The nintendo switch had not much at launch and it has tons now.

With the pre order you get a special controller, 3 months of premium, and a chromecast ultra.

Stadia all depends on 2 things...

1. What games and how many they offer free with the subscription.

2. Input latency. If there's even a slight delay more than an Xbox or PS4 than all twitch, fighting, and shooting games will be impossible to play.

Anyone use their 3XL naked? How has it held up over time?

@nospleen was so gracious to send me the Google fabric case and I love the look and feel fine in the hand but man this device feels so great in the hand naked.

Concerned about no AC+ if you will when I usually go naked on my iphones but might risk it with the white one.

I use a Peel case as I wanted as slim and light a case as I could find and this was recommended to me. Considering it’s such a light, ‘barely there’ case, it’s a little pricey but it’s very form fitting, a translucent white that matches the white Pixel 3 XL beautifully with no logos and leaves a little cutout for the sleep/power button so that green is visible.

And if you want dark mode, just sign up for the Android Q beta. ;)

I considered the beta but have never done that ever and still an Android newb so it worries me.

It's either fabric case or nekkkkkid for me! ;)

This beta build for q is stable. to install it you literally just go to the Android beta wesbite and click a button to enroll. Then you check for updates and it will install Q. It does NOT wipe your device to upgrade to Q.

Then if you want to unenroll you go back to the website and click the Un-enroll button. The downside is that when you roll back to pie your device gets wiped.

I'd never recommend the first few betas but this is beta 4 and it's very stable.

I’d say it’s mostly stable. ;) I still have some apps that either won’t run or crash. But the OS itself has been running fine.

BTW, I haven't received the OTA update for beta 4 yet on my Pixel 3 XL, or at least I don't think I have (haven't installed anything in weeks). Anyone able to share the latest Q beta build number for comparison?

The beta has been pretty stable for me too. I love the back gesture, I always missed that when I switched back and forth from iOS.

Had to go back to the P software and opt out of beta.
Barclays app wasn't working which I do use virtually daily, so couldn't do without that really.

Was decent though (Q) and I liked the gestures and being able to swipe back from the left or right.
Although that did mess up some apps - like Play Music etc. I'd swipe from the left side to open the hamburger menu thing but it would end up closing the app. Bit annoying as my default is to swipe from that side as I was used to it with iOS.

That’s something that happened to me quite often as well unfortunately.

Here is my mini review and a large wall of text for the Pixel 3XL (if anyone cares :))
History: Lifetime Apple/ios user. Dabbled in Android but only for a month or 2 back in the day.
Recent device history: XS Max>OP7 Pro>Pixel 3XL

Pros:
  • Camera, camera, camera!!! No surprise to anyone but this phone begs me to take more pictures of random scenery, my kids even more then before, or inanimate objects. Hands down the best camera i've used on any single phone
  • OS is so clean, smooth, and love all the quirks it offers in Call Screen, Top shot, and Always listening music playlist thingy
  • AOD I never knew i needed this in my life. It is fantastic! I find myself touching my phone less then before when at work which is a great thing and less distractions as a quick glance tells me if needed to unlock
  • Google Assistant I never thought I would use this as much as i do but in the car is where it shines!
  • Wireless charging/Water resistant-in Texas lots of pool, splash pad, and just wet moments of trying to cool off. Feels good knowing I have this again in a device. Wireless charging is something I tried to make work but I have these things everywhere including my car. Love tossing the Pixel on them again and missing that from the OP7
  • Google apps- very Apple like but better since its on any single device and wow it is so easy to use and share pics and albums with family members which i was worried about losing iMessage
  • Notifications- this isn't a Pixel 3 specific thing but coming from iOS, Android notifications have changed my life with how good they are! Love the layouts, AOD, and quick ways you can interact and manage
  • Naked build quality- this device feels fantastic in the hand and not as heavy as the XS Max or big as the OP7 Pro...too bad I am too afraid to take the case off all the time
Cons:
  • Battery life-weak to rather weak. I am a heavy user and this screen is just ok in comparison to my previous devices and i feel it needs 100% brightness all the time, especially outside. I am not getting good battery life at all. I watch the percentage drip away. Luckily wireless charging from the pro list is in play
  • Screen quality-its just ok. Maybe not fair to the Pixel after coming from the best screen in the world in the 90hz, vibrant, insanely large and seamless OP7. Also that notch is horrendous and I hope overtime I get more used to it which I probably will but again, the OP7 might have spoiled me in the short term
  • Gestures....hate them. So excited for the next version of Android. I miss Oxygen OS and their little quirks of left corner to go back, seamless app drawer call up, and dark mode!!
  • Fingerprint sensor-not a fan at all of placement and everyday use. I loved the OP7 in screen option as it was fast and could easily interact if laying on a desk. This feels dated and not convenient with location and functionality

Yes its been about 2 days and yes there will be more added to both I am sure but overall, I am absolutely loving this phone and blends the things I loved about the OP7 and iOS with the OS and the camera alone will keep me having a Pixel in my life moving forward even if in a drawer to pull out for trips/events.

Thanks to everyone here who has given me feedback and I've read this entire thread with tips and things to look for. :)

Its interesting, being around on the forums for so long now and watching when the Pixel 3 was leaked heavily before release last year, and then the actual official unveiling.

I was so negative about it, as were lots of others at the time. And rightly so I guess. When you have bezeless phones with triple camera and a sufficient levels of RAM, the Pixel 3 on paper looks to be pretty underwhelming. Both internally and aesthetically.

But it's so interesting to now see the majority of is Android die hards, who chop and change a lot, decide to use the Pixel 3 or 3a as our main device. We always seem to come back to it.
It truly is the Android iPhone isn't it?

I have finally listed my 3a for sale as I am going to stick to my regular 3, bit every time I pick the 3a up in so impressed. To get that camera and that stock experience at that price with little compromise is staggering.

When the 4 is unveiled, I am definitely going to reserve judgement until I've actually used it.
It's going to be difficult for me to want to use anything else now, even if sexier hardware is presented by other manufacturers.

It's the little things with the Pixel, the haptics, the software (suggested app actions in the app drawer, suggested apps when opening already open apps etc) it just makes for such a pleasant experience.

There's definitely a reason we're all flocking to the Pixel at the moment. Google have made an amazing device. Easily one of my faves.

Very well said.

There are so many other phones that do things better than the Pixel line.

But for me, being an iOS die hard, the Pixel has made the transition so seamless and enjoyable and opened my eyes to the other perks of Android with the biggest one being how much I enjoy something like AOD/Notifications.

Also, the camera has spoiled me such as the OP7 Pro screen spoiled me. I take between 25-50 pics a day and having a camera that can perform is up there with the rest of a phones need and this one is the best phone I have used in any device....EVER.

Combine that with the clean stock experience and I am going to have a hard time ever going back to Apple unless they surpass Pixel in camera quality/processing.
