It makes you wonder what the 3a will do for the Pixel 4 sales. In the last month, the Pixel line has not only gotten a much better reach across all carriers but has been at an affordable price for people. People that probably wouldn't have been exposed to how good the Pixel line is beforehand.

it could be setting the Pixel 4 up for big sales...might attract a lot of crossover folks who want to to get out of the Apple eco system.

Yep I think my decision will be which size 4, not whether or not I get one. Haha

For me it will be to get it at launch or wait until Black Friday as Pixel prices seem to tumble almost immediately after launch so may wait for the first deal.

Unless they have a ridiculous trade in offer at the beginning.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll probably get it at launch or shortly after. My S10+ has lost so much value and isn't selling, so I'll going to use it as a trade in and then either sell my Pixel 3 or give it to my daughter if she'd be willing to switch to Android. She's only 10 so it's not like she even understands OS. Lol

So I opted into the Q beta several days ago on my 3XL and have not gotten any option to update to Q within system update. Yesterday I opted out of the beta program and re-enrolled to see if it makes any difference. Still no option to update to Q. Any idea as to what is going on?

I opted in based on the instructions given this weekend a page or 2 back. No notification or update.

I then read that Q was bricking a lot of devices so they pulled the recent beta until sorted out. I assume that is why.

Figured that this may be the reason. Thank you! Eager to give it a try once they sort out the issues.

I am going on a long road trip next week and want to have a hot spot in the car for the kids to use their tablets every now and again for the internet.

Has anyone used their Pixel Hotspot and does it work well? I have TMobile if that helps.

Or do I need a separate device to plug into the car to get this capability?

First time doing a hot spot honestly.

Hot spot works well. It may be spotty since you're driving, depending on your carriers coverage .

Is it safe to use it for prolonged periods of time while the phone is on a wireless charger mat?
I assume its going to get pretty warm lol

Yeah it will get warm but it will (should) shut itself off if it ever gets too hot. I keep mine in a dash mount that attaches to my HVAC vent, that way the cold air is blowing on it constantly if you have the AC on.

I will say this though. iMessage is by far the best messaging app on any platform, and think about how many texts you send/receive every day. And then if literally all your friends and coworkers use iPhones, it can definitely decrease your messaging experience by a lot, especially if you’re accustomed to sending a lot of photos and videos. That can outweigh the gains in camera performance. I’d personally say that the difference in messaging experience has a greater gap then camera performance if you’re using alone if the latest iPhones.

Kinda blows my mind that Google hasn't come up with an answer for Android TBH.

Google would probably face all kinds of additional regulatory or ‘anti-trust’ issues trying to implement a required messaging app on all Android phones. And making it the default messaging platform is the only way it would approach the effectiveness of Apple Messages (at least, in the US). Otherwise, OEMs or carriers would just set their own messaging app as the default.

Owners of pixel 3, i got few questions, i do consider moving from ip7, main reason is camera and price (i can get pixel 3 for less than ip8 here where i live - good time to try android finally), so:
- was bug with flashing screen resolved?
- was quality of calls resolved?
- if you should compare brightness of pixel 3 with ip 6s-8, is it really that bad (worse than thise iphones)
- how is battery in comparison with regular ip7/ip8 (seen many reviews bashing pixel 3xl battery life, what about poxel 3?)
- 4gigs of ram - does pixel 3 lag?
- do u use any adblocker for chrome??
Thx.

- never had that issue, so I'm guessing yes

- same. Calls sound great.

- I don't have an iPhone next to me but I will say that with full sunlight and wearing sunglasses, the screen can be a little challenging to see. But it's not impossible and my viewpoint is to enjoy the sun and not your phone. but I live in Wisconsin so we get full sunlight and heat about 2 months every year.

- Battery life is okay. Not great, but it also charges really fast. When I leave work I'm usually between 50 and 60%, and after my 40-minute drive I'm back up to 100 with my car fast charger so battery is never an issue for me.

- mine doesn't lag at all. I'm sure there are some resprings but I don't really notice that kind of stuff.

- I don't use an ad blocker for chrome but I'm sure there's got to be some kind of option.
