If the Google Play Store had better, more refined apps, I would spend 1k on an Android phone. Otherwise, I’ll stick with my 8 Plus or if I’m desperate, I’ll get a OnePlus. Hopefully the Pixel 4 will be more enticing.

It looks to me like a 128 GB XL ( the model I would be interested in) is $30 less than last year in Canada ($1259 versus $1289).

I can't believe they bumped the price to $799 for the starter Pixel 3.

Just trying to keep people away...

Night shot is coming to the older pixels. That is great news! Unlike some phone manufacturers that say "the previous generation cant do it" so consumers have to upgrade.

No. Just... No, Google.

Pretty much not buying anything in this line up this year. Will likely have more to type about later. Need to clear my thoughts.

Google is the new apple, Android becoming more locked down and Google becoming more "we know best"

But this has been obvious for a while...

Security? Yeah sure a little bit, but more about lining their pockets, watching you and control...

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Never mind folks, don’t fret, don’t dispair at the worlds worst designed notch EVER!

For tomorrow we have the Razer event and the launch of their new phone, or in a couple of weeks the lovely new One Plus phone :)

I know the software won’t be the same, but you won’t feel a sinking downhearted depressing feeling every time you look at the front of them....

So close yet so far. Google still insisting on only shipping to the US weeks before anywhere else is a joke.

Same with software stuff like YouTube Red. That didn’t even come to the UK it’s only now it’s part of YouTube Music which came years after Red.

The XR will be out before then and it’s a nicer looking device (to me) and it looks like it’s going to be cheaper. So there’s my bed made.

They also really shouldn’t have shown the video of the YouTubers saying about the 3 leaking unless they had something to show that was different to the leaks. As they didn’t, they just looked a bit silly.

I can't believe it's coming in at a higher price point than the XR. That's a big mistake. I believe it's a better phone with a better screen, but it isn't going to help with mass consumption.

$799... I'm still shaking my head. Big mistake.

Unless you are just appalled by iOS, I see absolutely no reason to get the Pixel 3/3 XL over the iPhone Xr. Pricing on these phones is bad for what seems like a very iterative update.

And did they seriously launch another competitor (after Facebooks attempt) to Amazons Echo Show.. :rolleyes:o_O

And then they go and take on BOTH Apple and Microsoft in the tablet space..... that’s, erm, brave..

Well no ones perfect, I still like my Google WiFi.

Strangely,i do like notches, like the iphones and the huawei p20. But this notch is just plain ugly.

I do believe the camera will be the best in industry tho. Shame the smaller pixel 3 still has quiet big bezels.

That's not true. If you currently have a phone that's two years or older the Pixel 3 is a huge update.

When will people here stop thinking that the rest of the world upgrade phone every year?

I think people are being a bit harsh on almost every aspect except the price.

Please. The Pixel 3 compared the iPhone XR? The Pixel 3 should be leaps ahead with no concessions.

It's just the price I really don't like. As others have said, this was an opportunity to really steal some thunder, not go higher.

The phone looks great, should be my next one when the price comes down! Slate, nice but not for me. Home Hub? Yes, finally! Would actually consider it.

Interesting comparison with the iPhone xS. Owning that and the current pixel 2, both phones take great shots in (what I suspect) is similar lighting. Curious if they turned off Smart HDR on the iPhone, I doubt Google would resort to that, but their example doesn’t match what I have seen in mixed low light in testing my Pixel 2 and XS.

Regardless, I will be able to test for myself, I should never have brought my CC to work today :( . But this is actually a work expense so I am cheating a little. Went base, base, because I don’t want 2 big phones, and I never get over 32% of my 128gb pixel 2 storage used, especially with free unlimited photo uploads.

This isn’t true though. I had a Pixel OG that I only just got rid of for my XS Max and the Pixel has all of the features the Pixel 2 had apart from portrait mode. But that could have been added via some method I was just too lazy to do.

It struck me how much the Pixel OG and 2 were similar aside from their design. Performance was still fantastic, camera still incredible and as we’ve heard today, a lot of these brand new features are coming to all of the older Pixels and Pixel 3. So what reason is Google giving anyone to dive in?

Sure, if it’s your upgrade year then go for it. Otherwise there’s very little point at that price. In my opinion.

Gggrrrrrrrr embrace the notch.... gggrrrrrr *Google!

God damn ugly design. They so should have marketed it as a Nexus device and for 300 dollars etc less. At least, then it would have made sense. In my eyes it’s a big fail for google this year, just copying everyone else’s hardware, which will overshadow their software, but google being google will no doubt drop some of the features they’ve mentioned.

I say that because their software can be clever with some cool tricks, plus they make sense with only one camera, but too often they announce wonderful features which later on are dropped.

What really separates the Pixel 3 from the OG Pixel? Not much imo. And you could get the upcoming OnePlus 6t for below $600. This pricing is bad. There's nothing here to justify a $50 price increase over last years models.

I think google added quite a bit of little software things to make the experience better. And the camera is going to outstanding, just wish it was dual cameras on the back instead of the front. But as universally agreed, ugly design and priced too high.

I will probably order though to try one, hard to resist the camera for me. Just can't decide on the small or big one.
