horses for courses. It comes down to what you want from your phone. From being on ios then note8 I now know i dont like samsungs ui, sure i can deal with it but i way prefer android p stock. I also dont care for gimmicky features. I dont need 5 windows open on a phone that i cant even see.

The iPhone crushed the new Pixel 90% of the time. Google seems to be applying a dramatic HDR effect which, I guess, nobody likes, because you get white at the edges and overall I don't like how the Pixel shoots.

Google Pixel 3 XL Review: A Polished Camera and Software Experience make up for the Notch [Part 1]

https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-3-xl-camera-software-design-pixel-stand/

This was very interesting in the review:

Security

The security of the Pixel 3 is really undersold by Google’s marketing, but is widely recognized by security experts. Few users may be aware that the Pixel 2 has a tamper-resistant hardware security module. The HSM is a discrete chip, separate from the main SoC, used for secure transactions. Most users won’t notice the benefits, but the potential applications for secure medical and financial transactions are exciting. This year, Google was proud to show off the new Titan Security Module in both the Pixel 3 and Pixel Slate. While we don’t have any exact details, what little we know is promising. You don’t have to know a single thing about security to know that the Google Pixel is a secure smartphone—perhaps the most secure consumer smartphone. I always recommend my less tech-savvy friends and family members buy a Chromebook, and I will also recommend the Google Pixel because all the developers that I trust have faith in the Pixel’s security.

Few reviews mention battery life as just okay, which is a bit worrying.

Wireless charging eliminates this concern for me. I'll be topping it off on a charging stand anytime it's idle and not in use on my desk.

If you don't have access to wireless charging in your day (or fast charging), then it's a much bigger concern.

Everything I am reading regarding battery life, they say compared to the 2 XL the 3 XL is about the same, and a hair better, not worse at all, a bit longer battery life.

I have the Pixel 2 XL, and really no issues with battery life, it lasts a full day no problem, so if the 3 XL offers a bit longer battery life, that's good.

We'll have to wait till next years SD855 for a decent battery increase.

Very glowing reviews so far. I look forward to some of the new features or performance enhancement to make it to the Pixel 2.

Thst being said. The Pixel 3 do look hot in white and not pink.

I kind of liked the Pixel’s photos most of the time. But the video quality is better on the iPhone. I need to test audio with my headphones which I don’t have on me at the moment.

Brightness is an issue, not so great battery life and that 4Gb of ram..... Guess I’m going to stick with the 8 plus for another year...

Yeah I ordered black, as I alway do. But I think the white looks the best so far, looks really good.

Is really sucks that it does shoot video in 4k 60fps. That's one feature is desperately want in my next phone.

The reviews are saying that battery life is comparable to the Pixel 2 which is good. My phone comfortably lasts a day with WiFi on, 6 hours of Bluetooth streaming and max brightness.

I have zero battery anxiety and don't need to top of phone up during the day. If the Pixel 3 is capable of they then is good.

Crushed? According to the video, all front facing camera shots went to the Pixel, while the rear shots went to the iPhone (except for low light images). Might have something to do with 2 camera's vs 1 in both cases.

dissapointed by the mic on the pixel sounds bad,

Camera comparrisons so far hmm from what i seen its very even with the xsmax. Video is way better on the iphone though and so is the mic audio. Damn i was hoping for a pixel destruction as my two choices are the pix and xsmax for me.

Don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned, maybe someone on here has. I’m curious about the wide angle front lens. Does it take 2 pics at once (like some phones do on the main camera) so you can choose between the wide angle or regular? Or have to select one option or the other?

I wonder it it will retain this after tomorrow's announcement

What's tomorrow??
[doublepost=1539632747][/doublepost]Based on reviews, the Pixel Stand sounds really interesting. It feels like a very Apple-esque thing to do... take old technology and try to make it your own with exclusive features.

I'm not willing to drop $79 bucks for it, but it's neat.

Pixel 3 XL review—Google software deserves better than this hardware
The best camera ever, really great performance, and dated, greasy hardware.

I want to see more reviews calling out Google's hardware. I've always made the same arguments when Apple fell behind in hardware, and I'll make the same ones here: hardware matters.

It's great that the Pixel devices are always thought of more for than "sum of their parts," but good hardware can elevate and future-proof the experience even further. There's nothing that says Google can't continue to be good at software while doing better in hardware, especially if you're meant to compete with premium flagships at premium prices.
