@epicrayban your journey of acceptance of these Pixel 3’s from the last few months of flames and disgust is quite something. :D
Who knew.

I hope you all enjoy your Pixel 3’s. looking forward to seeing the pics taken and screenshots of the battery useage screen for the first two weeks as per all new Android purchases. :p

Still haven’t played with them myself, but when I’m next in town I’ll go in and have a look if I feel the urge.

Reading this thread is a bad idea at times... I just had a maxed out panda XL 2 come in the day before that I got my mom and mine still working pretty good....

I don't need another device... I don't need another device... I don't.... o_O

Don't have a choice.:p I still think Google made big mistakes this year, from the notch to the pricing to the paltry RAM.

I gave Samsung 4 years, and they were great years, but it's clear Google is the camera leader now and the hardware is good enough.

Of course you have a choice. I thought you were saying about how OnePluswould be the perfect alternative to the Pixel because it has more ram than what Google we’re providing, and more importantly no aggressive notch. Oh and better gestures?

My two concerns after replaying with the pix3xl today was screen brightness. Full brightness was same as half as my note 8 or iPhone X's. I feel there is hardly any difference on the pixels screen brightness going from 0-50%.

And video recording I'll ask u all to try out. I've tried it on a few devices and when ure recording video it's all juddery and looks terrible and not smoothe. Then when you click playback it's exactly the same. I hope this is not on retail versions as video is unusable on demo units I tried on both small and XL versions.

Weak camera. And I'm not all sold on the in-display finger reader. It's apparently not the best technology of it. Plus no waterproofing or wireless charging. :T

Again, my criticisms of many of Google's decisions this year still stand. I'm praising what they got right (from the little hands-on time I had with them) but that doesn't change their mistakes.

Google should still compete better in design and future-proofing specs.

Last week I played with a phone with in-screen FPS that is being announced very soon and it was quite fast.

Wasn't a Samsung though, but I was very impressed.

Nice. I don't mind letting that technology age and grow a bit before committing to it. I think Samsung plans to use a better form of technology to get their in-display FPS.

I think it's great that OnePlus is trying to pave the way forward in a mainstream way. Good for them. But if camera is my main deciding factor, there's no question the Pixel is the best option. For Photos backups too.

Will just have to deal with the compromises inherent with Google's hardware until they catch up.

At the 5:50 mark of this video, you see exactly why the Pixel 3 XL looks so much better than the 2 XL. The front panel is just flatter, and the edges more refined. If you keep watching, when he starts comparing the other angles of the phones, you can see the build is much sleeker and better on the 3 XL, which makes it feel better in the hand:

At the 5:30 mark in Erica Griffin's video, she disables the notch and you can see for a few moments of her using the device this way:

Such a better looking phone without the notch than the 2 XL.

Honestly, the Pixel 3s were what the Pixel 2s should have been. When comparing the two generations, you really see how ugly the Pixel 2s were. And neither have aged well at all.

If anyone comes across a YouTube video of someone going through the Pixel 3 XL with the notch disabled (status bar pushed down) in length, please share it here?

I'm trying to find one and no one is really doing it. You just get glimpses of people disabling it, but not really showing it in use that way.

Has anyone seen reports on the antenna signal quality? My Pixel 2 XL gets a way better signal in my house than my iPhone X. I’ve heard the Xs is even worse than the X. I’m hoping the 3 XL is as good or better than the 2 XL.

*edit, google is my friend... looks good!

With Pixels using Qualcomm antennas, I think the Pixel 3 XL will have excellent signal. :) you should be good.

Ordered the 3 XL in black. I’m enjoying my iPhone X, but miss the camera and improved signal quality. I live out in the sticks, so there’s no WiFi if our hotspot or phones can’t connect.

The 4 GB of ram is what scare me bout this phone. Marques Brownlee stated in a interview that when he went to take a pic using "top shot" apparently the music app he was running in the background crashed cause top shot was eating all the memory up..... Come on we are not asking for 8gb of ram (which would be nice) but at least 6gb....

Totally understand. I live in a valley, we have major dead spots, my mother's iPhone X can barely get signal here.

The phones I have found to have the best signal quality are Huawei devices, they lock on to 4G LTE very STRONG even in the worst areas, but I know they no longer sell those in the USA.

Same here, both the 4GB RAM and 64GB non expandable memory are a downer, but anyway, I'm not who the Pixel is for.

6GB RAM should be standard on Android Flagships though.

Went to check out the Pixel 3 5.5 and XL at my local bestbuy. First of all the screen is amazing. The colors are very rich. The white is white.... Its not like Samsung Note9 which to me is over saturated... The screen mades my 8 plus look very dull. Night and day compare to the pixel 2 from last yr.

The 5.5 is very small. I was shocked how small it was compare to my 8 plus. The notch is there and yeah its bad (no lie) but with google you could somewhat hide it. One concern is the brighness on both the phone. Anything below 90% is very dim. Both phones were in demo mode and hopefully this is the reason why it was so dim...

Was able to checkout the Pixel 3 at a Verizon store today. The display is a big upgrade over the Pixel 2. But I also notice how dim the display was. I usually have the brightness level at 50% on my Samsung and iPhones like my current daily driver the Xs Max. But if I set the P3 Xl to 50% it was very dim. I had to set it at 80% to get to be normal for me.
Just my thoughts.....

I thought the same thing when upgrading to Pie. Someone linked to a new way the brightness slider works. Not sure if that’s the issue or if the 3 is in fact, dim.

Yup. Android Pie now has a "percentage accurate" brightness slider now. So 50% really is half the brightness the phone is capable of.

Since then, my brightness setting is always around the 75% or so area. And in the sun, 100%.

Definitely not as bright as the S9+.

Yeah, LG has fixed everything with their OLED but brightness.
