Similar thing happened to a friend who ordered two (one for himself, one for his wife), both with Project Fi SIM cards.
Is yours SIM-free or with Project Fi?
I wonder if it's a packaging issue or a manufacturing issue...

Sim free. My guess is dates are getting pushed to satisfy all the people who pre-ordered and have already RMAd their device. But that's just a guess. It could be they total overestimated their stock and shipping like in the past.

Having the Pixel 3 XL now like ten days or so, coming from the Pixel 2 XL.

- I like it, seems like a refined 2 XL, just everything being a bit better.

- It's not a night and day upgrade whatsoever, and I knew that going in. But I am very happy so far.

- Noticable upgrade would be the display #1. It's clearly a nicer quality screen.

- Haptic vibration seems overall nicer and stronger.

- Phone is very smooth fluid. Really no lag or hiccups.

- 4GB RAM issue ? I don't know, haven't really noticed a problem yet. But I'm not a big multitasker, I'm always clearing apps and closing apps all the time, I don't like background stuff running behind the scenes. That's the way I use my smartphones. So the RAM issue doesn't effect me.

- Speakers sound loud and clear, but they do vibrate the phone, which is weird.

- Dark themes help make this phone look so much better. Swift Black actually hides the notch, but still lets you see the time and network info in the corners, making it look like a full screen display.

- Notch, yeah the notch does suck, no way around it. I don't like it. But with darker wallpapers and a black theme for most apps, it does get hidden away better. The dark theme does wonders in making it sort of disappear.

- Camera, yes it's great. And Night Shot is amazing.

- Overall I like my Pixel 3 XL. Is it the greatest smartphone ever created ? LOL of course not, no phone is. But for liking stock vanilla Android, and it's smooth UI, it's a good phone for me.

Really no other phone I'd rather have right now. Except in dream world, would be an iPhone XS Max running Lineage 16.0 ROM. But seriously, no way I'd take a Note 9 over this. And a stock iPhone XS Max, no thanks, unless there's a good Jailbreak released. Not a fan of iOS

Gotta say, I’m pretty close to canceling my Pixel order and just going to T-mobile on Nov 1st to pickup a Oneplus 6t. Looks good other than the lack of wireless charging and IP rating and the price is amazing for what you get.

yeh price is great I guess it comes down to what you want in a phone. All these super specs what difference does it really make anymore? We all use the same apps open instagram facebook youtube. Phones are becomming a con to me.

The OnePlus 6T is obviously a lot cheaper than the Pixel 3 but, as others have said, think I'm more of a Pixel person.

Yup, I’d agree. Value is absolutely going to change person to person so I can appreciate anyone going with the 6T. For me, at this point, my smartphone is my camera, so that, plus certified water resistance and to a lesser extent, wireless charging, are worth the added cost. The unlimited full resolution Google Photos on the Pixel adds value as well (I’d need to spend $36/yr to have enough drive space).

The difference between the 6T and Pixel 3 is probably only large on paper, you know when some website assigns some number to it. In the real world, for the average person taking snapshots, the difference will be minimal. Most flagships have perfectly adequate cameras for viewing photos on mobile devices.

The Pixel 3 is like Samsung and Google put together. Not quite the hardware of Samsung but feels close enough.

Honestly, it feels like a regular S9 running stock Android.

My only real criticism of the Oneplus 6T is why transition to a glass back device if you’re not going to include wireless charging. Makes no sense.

Side note: It seems as if Google hasn’t improved their handling of the Pixel releases in 2 years since the first Pixel. Peoples shipping dates are being moved each day. I’m supposed to get my Pixel 3 XL by today according to their order page and the customer support person I spoke to at Google. That’s going to be pretty difficult considering they still haven’t shipped it.

Trade in this year was much better! Got my email this morning from Google for the full $300 credit back to my Amex card.. Smooth sailing over past year fiascos...

That sucks. So weird. Some of our shipment dates got moved up actually by a full week.

Sounds like confusion and mismanagement.

Either it's a cost-cutting decision or they are holding back wireless charging for the OP7, maybe.

That’s actually the worst thing you can do with Android. Will actually make the phone even slower.

Google just updated my delivery from today to Nov 6th or 7th, but when I click the link the order page says delivered by Nov 1st or 2nd. Its like they just throwing random dates out there for confusion sake because they have no idea, lol.

^ Why is that? I only usually have about three apps at most running in the background (iPhone) largely because of OCD issues.

I don’t know all the programming details behind it, but the basic idea is that both Android and IOS hav algorithms that manage available memory based and RAM available and system needs. By force closing your not actually improving battery life or anything and could actually be worsening things by forcing the system to re-evaluate memory available rather than keep managing it the way it is. Heads of Eng for both Android and IOS have confirmed force closing apps in the background doesn’t improve anything.
