Got to compare the Xr with my Pixel 3 and the Xr is ugly as hell. The bezels look way worse in person. It made the Pixel 3 look and feel sleek and modern comparatively (to be fair, the Pixel 3 has the opposite effect, it looks much better in person than it does in photos and videos).

The Xr doesn't photograph or film accurately in my opinion. It doesn't convey how ugly and chunky it is until you see it in person.

At the similar price ranges, I'd easily recommend a Pixel 3 over the Xr. Better camera, better software, and amazingly, better design.

Great review
Great because it slams apple for misconceptions on Google’s poor software builds for iOS, and an his Android bias (Android Police)?

Don’t get me wrong, love my pixel 3, and agree with quite a bit of the positive comments on it, but outside the camera, most have to do with Android as opposed to the pixel itself.

Also curious if he actually tested video on the Pixel 3 versus his old iPhone, Judging by his praise of the P3 video OIS, I strongly believe he didn’t bother a true test.

The Black Friday Verizon deal is what the phones should be sold for regularly from Google .

$600 for the small Pixel 3.
$700 for the Pixel 3 XL .

I think that would be way more fair and help these sell a lot more. But the Verizon deal ? You can't buy the phones outright for that price can you ? Prob a monthly payment discount only ?

I think Google should be selling the pixel line in that middle bracket price range, meaning more expensive than a OnePlus phone because the Pixel phones are a bit better package overall, but they shouldn't be priced near Samsung Galaxy Note or iPhone Max pricing they should be in that middle between OnePlus and a Note. So like $749 for the Pixel 3 XL should be the standard 128GB price from Google.

Only reason I bought the Pixel 3 XL, was the deal I got $855 grand total w/tax and shipping. I refuse to pay $1,000+ for a cellphone.

But I have to say I'm very satisfied with my Pixel 3 XL, being rooted which allows some amazing beautiful custom themes and you also get the best ad blocking possible being rooted. So I have zero ads anywhere on any browser on any app, no ads whatsoever. The dark themes do a very good job of disguising and hiding the notch with a dark or Black theme, you don't even notice the notch is there because that's black all around it in the status bar area, themes will do all the Google stock apps and the browsers, so if you're making a phone call, or a text, or surfing the web, you don't see the notch.

Not that it matters anymore, but I think realistically Google should have priced the Pixel 3 models at:

$699 Pixel 3
$799 Pixel 3 XL

That would have only been a $50 bump from last year's Pixel 2 for a far better display, design, and wireless charging. And it would have been a $50 discount for the XL model from last year, which was already overpriced and plagued with serious issues.

Best buy will have the same deal. I did it last time with them and the discount was instant, but you had to buy on an installment plan. (then I paid in full the next month)

Note to self, wait for Black Friday next year.

This year's $50 Google Play credit was a pretty crap promotion on top of the price hikes. I much rather have gotten it through these BF deals.

The 3 XL at $200 dollars off is tempting. Ugh, too bad it has only 4GB of RAM.

I wonder how long the shipping delays will be on this deal

Ugh, why couldn't there be just something slightly more to this phone? The XL 3 in the 2s body? :(

With the Black Friday discount bringing the 3 XL down to $699. It's a no brainer MUST BUY.

Really there's no other phone better at that price. Monthly security updates direct from Google. Smooth stock vanilla Android. Best camera of 2018. Beautiful Samsung display. All the cool Google Assistant features baked into the phone.

Speaking of that camera, Night Sight is now live:

This is exactly how I buy all of my phones. I get a discount from Best Buy by getting it on a payment plan and then pay it off after the first month. I never pay full price for phones but I do have to pay the stupid $30 upgrade fee but I still save overall since they are usually discounted $100-200.

That's actually a real good deal. $200 off the 3 XL between Nov 22 - 25 is a great one.

I will be ordering at Pixel 3 XL for $699 for sure.

Hopefully stock isn't an issue.

So that makes the Pixel 3 models:

$649 Pixel 3 base model, presumably $749 for the 128GB.

$699 Pixel 3 XL base, presumably $799 for the 128GB.

Yeah, those are solid deals.

My spidey senses tell me they got a boat load of these sitting around.

I would believe it. Google wasn't exactly pricing them to fly off the shelves. And the promo credit was discrete and poor.

Also, it proves, once again, it does not pay to be an early Google adopter. This applies to hardware and software. Early adopters deal with crappier prices and deals, and first round hardware and software bugs. On the software side, for many years, I argued that getting first round updates was overrated -- not always a feature, sometimes a hindrance. When Android became smooth and stable and feature-rich, requiring updates got less important, especially at the risk of being nothing more than a beta-tester.

Next year, I will wait until Black Friday.

I would definitely recommend either Pixel models for those BF prices. The $699 Pixel 3 XL is probably the best value. God, if it had 6GB of RAM, I would upgrade to it. I want that Samsung panel and think the device would be great with the notch disabled. But alas... with no additional RAM... I just don't know if it's worth bothering.

[doublepost=1542230094][/doublepost]I believe my math is right...

BOGO50:

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 = $600 each. (800 + 400 / 2)

Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 3 XL = $675 each (900 + 450 / 2)

Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 3 = $650 each (900 + 400 / 2)

VS

BLACK FRIDAY:

Pixel 3 for $649
Pixel 3 XL for $699

If you have a reason to get two, BOGO50 is solid value.

EDIT: Though it changes if you are going the 128GB models!

BOGO50 128GB:

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 = $675 each. (900 + 450 / 2)

Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 3 XL = $750 each (1000 + 500 / 2)

Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 3 = $725 each (1000 + 450 / 2)

Anyone wanna go halfsies on a b1g1 Pixel 3 XL? We could order as early as this Friday. Dead serious here...We all know each other pretty well here so I'd obviously prefer a well known member.

For what it's worth, you would only save about $25 bucks doing that:

Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 3 XL = $675 each (900 + 450 / 2)

I wouldn't expect to save anything really over BF savings but I still want to do it.

Get it faster by a week (at least of one us), beat a rush of order and potential backorders, save a few bucks after shipping the 2nd unit to the other person.

Also, it depends on if you go 128GB model. You would each save $50 bucks if you both did that versus the BF single deal:

Hope you find someone. You could both get the 3XL 128GB for $750 each versus $800 on BF or versus $1000 at retail.
