Very cool. I returned my 3XL and have been using my 2XL, but I'm planning on picking up the 3. I'm kind of over the larger phones.

I'll be jumping on this. Anyone find a good screen protector yet?

I've tried two screen protectors on my Pixel 3 (non XL). Xtreme Guard's HI-DEF dry install screen protector and Caseology's TGSP. Xtreme Guard's was pulled off in about 20 minutes, it never stuck correctly and I quickly realized how much I dislike screen protectors that aren't glass. Caseology's TGSP is decent, however, it's cut really small and there is about a millimeter on both sides that doesn't cover the visible part of the display. It's apparently to be "case-friendly" but it's really annoying. Honestly, I'm probably going to drop the money on the whitestone dome (when it's released) or go without a screen protector altogether.

The search for a good screen protector continues.

Ever since the S7 Edge, where screen protectors were still learning how to deal with curved displays (read: there weren't any good ones), I've been going naked. Full naked. No screen protector, no back sticker, no case. I just use a pouch for when I have to throw it into a bag or something.

Naked with the S7E, S8, S9+, Pixel 2, iPhone 7, iPhone X... owning all of them for months to around a year. Always naked. And have had zero issues.

It's the way to live. :)

That's probably what I'll end up doing - no use in trying to fight with poor quality screen protectors.

You are a brave man, sir :) Living on the edge.

I agree on screen protectors, mostly being pure horse shlt. Last good one I had that felt like it was designed for the phone and fit perfectly, was my Nexus 6P, because it was a true flat screen, the tempered glass screen protector fit so well, you couldn't even tell it was on, and it felt great too.

But since then, all newer phones have a slight curved edge or rounded screen, not just Samsung, but most smartphone today, aren't true flat screens anymore, and screen protectors suck donkey balls on them. I can't stand a poor fitting screen protector, it's the worse feeling on a fancy new phone. So I too have gone naked on last few phones, and love it. But I still do a thin slim case.

I have the Whitestone dome protector on my wife's P2XL (she drops her phone a lot) and it works very well. covers curves and everything. Pricey and more setup than normal but I highly recommend it.

I personally don't use screen protectors but I tend to baby my phones. I actually typically go caseless too!

EDIT: plus they have a good warranty. she cracked her screen protector (which we bought off amazon) and you just have to register that protector on WD's website and file for a warranty replacement. Pay $5.99 for shipping and they send you out a new one with the materials to install it.

I buy mine on amazon, and usually go for the type with black borders to help make the transition between protector and phone look a bit more controlled.

Really happy with the coatings on this protector, and like the feel of it as compared to the back glass and such. They may have 2 packs now.

If you're looking at cases, I highly recommend the Ringke Fusion (super cheap) or if you're willing to spend $40, the Pixel fabric cases are awesome.

Awesome! This morning I actually initiated a return because I’m trading in my wife’s old iPhone 7 Plus, it had a cracked screen so the original quote was for a cracked screen device. Yesterday I found a place that fixed it for $70, so I wanted to get an updated value. Called google but they said they can’t edit the trade in value and the only way to do it was to return my pixel 3 and then purchase again.

The trade in value is $345 with a fixed display, so this plus the $150 off will mean my 128gb will come out to $400!

Woah. Theses are the price that google should be selling theses. Anyway this is going to be hard choice between the pixel 3, pixel 3 xl and s9+

How much is the S9+ on Black Friday?

At similar price points, I would recommend the Pixels over the S9+. I had both for some time together.

No brainer the stock Google phone over the almost year old S9+ which won't be getting the fast monthly Android updates the same as a Pixel 3.

Naked feels soo good too (don’t read into that too much).

HUGE fan of how the P3 and Xs Max feel without a case. Truth be told though, I did get a camera bump ring for the Xs, and have a back glass protector on it. But have dropped the bumper cases I used to use on that or my X.

May as well enjoy the hardware we spend our money on, and I find I drop the phone less, as I pay more attention to where I place, or how I hold my devices now.

Does the notch cut into video like on the iPhone X? Or does google disable that part of the screen during video?

Both, I believe.

You can zoom in to have the video fill the entire screen + notch, or you can zoom out to have it play with black bars on the side, without notch intrusion.

[doublepost=1542315879][/doublepost]Night Side is seriously a game changer. For instances of pitch darkness or super low-light, it's an amazingly handy tool. Verge says the update feels straight up like having a separate dedicated camera just for no/low light situations.

Great review:

Ugh, the stock dark theme from Google is very amateur and unprofessional looking, when compared to these absolutely amazing pieces of art like this. Why does Google themselves put out a half assed poor dark theme, when regular Joe's can create fantastic themes like these below?

Swift Dark theme;
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brit.swiftdark.substratum&hl=en_US

Swift Black theme;
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brit.swiftblack.layers&hl=en_US

Pitch Black theme;
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pitchblack.origins.westcrip

Plus Google's theme doesn't really do it properly. A text message will still come in as a white notification, even though you have it set to Dark Mode. So only the Messages app itself will be dark, but get a new text and you'll see it blinding white still :(

With Substratum themes, it's system wide EVERYTHING gets themed. There's zero white notifications, no white hiccups here or there, it all gets themed the color you chose, deep down into the entire phone.

Why Google can't do this, but part timer programmers can for fun, is crazy.

Running the Swift Black theme compared to the stock Google Dark mode, is night and freaking day in quality, and artistic value. These Sub themes are a million times better designed.
