I am no iOS fan, but will admit the iPhone XS Max is a stunning phone, absolutely beautiful design, and full screen looks super cool.

But then you turn it on, and hear the Atari sounds "pew pew pew" when I see that dated iOS home screen, that hasn't changed in a decade, and the dated iOS looks so out of place on such a modern looking phone.

Is the Pixel 3 XL a boring phone ? I suppose that could be said, but "it just works" and is so smooth and no lag or hiccups, and the whole package just works so well together. I'll take a "boring" stock Android phone over all gimmicky stuff Samsung Galaxy phones come with, which I'd disable 90% of the BS and your still stuck with Lagwiz. The Pixel 3 XL strong points;

- Camera is out of this world amazing, and Night Site is some black magic wizardry
- Display on the 3 XL is a Samsung A+ screen
- Google Assistant baked into the phone works so frigging well, blows away Siri LOL
- Monthly security updates like clockwork, the first Monday of each month. No long waits or months for updates, this phone is directly supported by Google.

Right now in 2018 the best smartphone FOR ME, would be the Google Pixel 3 XL. Second would be the OnePlus 6T, third would be the small Pixel 3. Other than that no other phones I'd get

You're off the mark on your Samsung hate. The whole lagwiz nonsense is based off their software from 5 years ago. It has improved considerably since then. Hell, the Note 9 is considered by most the best Android phone out there right now.

By who? I thought the Pixel 3 was the best?

The Pixel 3/3XL sells in such small numbers compared to Samsung devices that the Pixel 3 being considered the best will only apply in this thread.

In the real world where people buy a phone and don't frequent this forum Samsung's UI is more than good enough.

In fact I'd put money on it most don't even think there is anything wrong with it. For example, my wife and son both use Samsung, a Note 8 and S7 Edge respectively. I just asked them both what they think of the software to which my wife replied: It's fine. I asked her if she had any issues and she said it worked just fine. My boy said: it does what i need it to so I'm happy.

All the nonsense we on here waste our time arguing about isn't even considered by the millions outside of here.

Amen! Just use what works for you and move on!
I don't know why people have the need to knock something they don't like or doesn't fit their needs.

There is no need to bash something just because you might not like it. Different people have different tastes....what one person hates is another person favorite.

Best is a relative term depending on what you're looking for. But for what it's worth, most tech sites have the Note 9 or Mate 20 Pro as the best Android phone of 2018. The Pixel phones have better cameras, faster updates, and stock Android but are inferior to the Note 9 in just about every other category. And this is coming from a Pixel owner.

I must say how surprised I am at the number of Pixels I run into in my daily life...from all the way three states down to where I live in the mid Atlantic. Because we Pixel owners are still few in number, I find it’s kind of an instant conversation starter even with strangers.

“OMG is that a Pixel?”

“Why yes it is.”

“I’ve got one, too.”

“Isn’t the camera fantastic!”

I’ve had a few chance meetings go something like that. Snowball wears an actual Google Pixel case so is quite easy for other people to spot. But I can spot a Pixel pretty well myself.

One of the moms at school has one, too. I found out when she turned our group chat bubbles green. :p I had always expected if that were ever to happen it would have been a Samsung to do the dastardly deed. But no, it was a first gen Pixel XL.

Sweet, looks like gesture control has been updated, no works perfectly with the Pixel 3. So much better than the stock Google gestures.

Has google released an update to help fix the aggressive noise cancellation in the front camera when taking videos? Any other issues that Google has fixed?

The last I heard, Google were taking the stance that this is a feature and not a bug. They are saying it was specifically designed that way for noise cancellation but if enough people complain I could see them fixing it.

However, they have acknowledged the following problems and are working on fixes:

- Buzzing and distorted speakers
- Aggressive background app killing
- Photos not saving

My sentiments exact:

Comment: Google makes a strong case for no one to ever buy a Pixel at launch again
https://9to5google.com/2018/11/28/comment-google-pixel-launch-buy/

Pixel 3 discounts and promos were a kick in the face to anyone who purchased early
Outside of bugs and issues, though, the real reason why no one should ever buy a Pixel at launch again is the promotions. It’s not uncommon for carriers and even companies to offer discounts in some way for various reasons on new hardware. However, with the Pixel 3, Google essentially took a baseball bat to the face of anyone who bought their device on day one.

Not even a full month after the Pixel 3 started shipping to users, Google’s Black Friday sale took up to $200 off the price of an unlocked device.

Next year, I'm waiting until Black Friday.

[doublepost=1543439557][/doublepost]Is it me or did Call Screening disappear? I don't see that option anymore when I get phone calls.

What gives?

Same can be said of Samsung phones. They are outrageously overpriced at launch, but wait 4 months and they're giving them away in BOGO deals, or severe discounts .

Look at the Note 9 deals today, compared to when it came in August .

Well hey the same thing happened with iPhone trade ins. The trade in values are now $100 more than they were at launch. It was a risk Apple buyers took to buy at launch and heck, I even woke up at 3:00 am to pre order both times because I didn’t want to risk having to wait almost to Christmas or past it for my phones.

But this year was different.

Okay now that I’ve got that out of the way what the blinking hell is up with Fed Ex. I’ve been waiting all day for a delivery. There was never any details on my tracking information other than a label was created and that my delivery would be at close of business today. I even had to take the step of having my husband pick the kids up from school.

And I even signed up on my account to have status changes emailed to me. But they were not. So when I went to track my package it says pending delivery. No longer says end of business day.

Really? I even had to avoid doing chores that would take me to parts of the house where I can’t hear the doorbell. And that’s not easy. I have been taking care of an elderly dog suffering from incontinence. My life is a hell dealing with that. My days now revolve around laundering dog beds and walking her if she so much as twitches a whisker.

I don’t need to be babysitting the damned doorbell.

People here really do excel at making mountains out of their own personal mole hills.

That’s fine, just don’t spam the forum with it again & again & again...
