So the last few days using my P6 Kinda Coral the FPS has been killing me. I deleted all the finger prints then re-added again and again. But it would take 3 times before it would read my fingerprints.

Today I got my Pixel 6 Pro Stormy Black came in. What a difference in the FPS! Like night and day. The 6 Pro FPS has been rock solid and pretty near perfect.
I initiated a defective device return for the P6 Coral. I think the FPS was defective.
Must be a bad sensor? Mine has been brilliant! I just installed a screen protector and it worked still, but I deleted all fingers and re-enrolled on my regular 6 as a precaution. I am hoping it still works well in daylight like it did before.

Please oh please keep us posted on what you end up doing. My husband said at the time he looked into it a few years ago,T Mobile was also a pain about Sim swapping. Lol we are both a couple of regular Sim swappers as you can imagine, given how many phones we own.

These carriers want us totally dependent on them and at the mercy of contracts keeping us to one phone bought from them on payments. If you break out of that mold as you advance in your earnings, they don't like that. IPhone 6 Plus was the last iPhone I bought from AT&T on contract. My Note 7/S7 Edge was the last Android.

Admittedly, they did take good care of us through that fiasco. But only because the other carriers stepped up first.

Thank you for the warning. I shared it with my husband.
Mind you the devices all work, swapping sims is not resulting in loss of service on my systems, I just lost 2-factor account security for my online att account.

It's a terrible system.

Supposedly it will reset, but the entire process is draconian and totally frustrating. I spent 2 hours on this issue.

Oh when I came home from dinner out with my husband we saw the mailbox crammed with boxes. I had a moment's hope but it was just a laptop case I ordered for one of the kids and my Spigen case and more finger grip rings for my other cases. I may or may not have bought another ghost ring for my Pixel. ;)

USPS and UPS are delivering okay. Come on FedEx! You can do it! 😆

The FPS thing is really weird. Seems most are saying at best it's 75% but then there's a small few where it seems to work better. I wonder if it's bad sensors, bad setups, or some people just have magic fingers. Hearing all the issues makes me want to not take delivery of either, but I know this itch won't go away until I try at least one of the two out.

The FP scanner is trash. Google cheaped out on it. It's nothing but complaints on Reddit, Android forums, etc. Some legit may not be having issues with it but a majority are. I shouldn't have to set up 3 to 4 fingerprints of the same finger for it work 75% of the time.

Quick homescreen setup tonight;

I've been having similar issues but have just been toughing it out. I may end up doing the same. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a face unlock option.

Is Face Unlock something you think they'd be able to do via a software update? It must be, right?

I do find it puzzling that they omitted it. It's one thing I do miss from my 4XL, though I'm with a bank that didn't have face authentication in their mobile app, so I do enjoy now being able to use the FPS to sign in and not have to remember a passcode. But having the flexibility of both face unlock and in screen fingerprint sensor would be super nice on the 6 / 6 Pro.

Does face unlock from the Pixel 4 just use the regular camera for the actual face recognition? I know the soli camera is used for proximity detection, but does it do the actual scanning or is that all the regular camera? If so, youd think it would be something they could add.

My husband must have the unicorn of fingerprint scanners because it lets me in every time. Touch ID generation 1 and almost all Samsung scanners except the last capacitive one they made rudely rejected my prints. (Pixel’s rear facing print reader was the absolute best fingerprint scanner I have ever used). So I am shocked of all people, I’ve been able to use this thing. I hope the one on my Stormy will work as well for me. My husband says it’s okay for him. He says he’s gotten a few misses.

What he has had trouble with is freezes. Last night he wanted me to look at something in a comics app he has. I don’t know how it’s spelled but it’s pronounced comixology. That froze his phone and he has to reboot when he uses it. Then this morning his phone froze on something else.

He has a lot of apps and I have no idea how his phone is set up, so don’t anyone read this and freak out. Goodness only knows what’s going on there.

I’m making do on a 64 gb iPhone, so that shows you how differently I run a phone. I’m still removing apps and setting up shortcuts to their web based interface to save on space. It’s actually a fun challenge to myself to see how well I do on 64 geebeez. I’m currently using only 26 gb on my XR. I’m running lean and mean! 😆

OMG folks it finally happened! Stormy has left 💃 Rancho Cucamonga 🕺 and is in my state! I now have a projected delivery date of Wednesday!

Wednesday is actually an awkwardly busy day, but the evening and the rest of the week are (supposed to be) clear-ish so I will have time to enjoy setting it up.

I have two Spigen cases and film screen protectors to try.

Few quick impressions since getting the 6 Pro last night;

- It is a big phone, feels thicker or bulkier than my iPhone 12 Pro Max
- Curved edge screen is ok, it does make the gesture navigation a bit easier, but I still prefer flat screens
- FPS scanner turning on the bright white light is annoying, and doesn't work nearly as good as the classic rear finger print scanner.
- This phone MUST have a case on, holy cow is this thing slippery without a case, and a strange but good thing, cases don't seem to add a lot of bulk due to the curved edge display. But really don't see how anyone can use this phone naked.
- Going back and forth running dark mode vs light theme, for some reason light theme looks pretty good on this phone.

Overall I like it so far, but not blown away crazy in love with it yet. But keep in mind the two phones I've just been using this Summer / Fall are the Pixel 4 XL and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
