Google should just give up on hardware. They completely stink at it. Stick to software/services and leave hardware to Apple and Samsung. They can't get the Pixel 6 series right and are already working on the 7...lol.
But by all accounts it’s not the hardware that’s the problem but the software Google has messed up. The FPS is one issue that gets gets the most attention but I can with all honesty say that the FPS that Samsung is also using under the display is actually a lot worse. I quit using it on my Galaxy Tab S7+.

The FPS on my Pixel 6 works nearly 100% of the time and it’s faster reading my digit than the Galaxy Tab S7+.

Android using experience with pixel 6 is just incredible. look at this black boom ?

I have no issues with the FPS on the ultra and also on my pixel.. they are both different but they work good and consistent for me anyway.. I guess I have finger print friendly hands LOL

I don't have any issues either with the FPS at least once Google sent me a new one since my original P6 was clearly defective. I was just trying to say that in general the phone is fine. It's the software that Google has pooched several times since the release of the Pixel6 and 6Pro. The updates have broken things that were working for some users.

But to be fair, if Google doesn't have to concern itself with hardware and focus solely on software... then perhaps it wouldn't be so heavily criticized.

IMO, a Samsung focused hardware and a Google focused software would be a dope phone.

But isn't that what they gave us? The Pixel 6 Pro was widely praised by a lot of reviewers and users as being 'Samsung' like. Some of us didn't like that, because we don't all like huge slabs with curved screens that Samsung has made a bit of an industry standard for a flagship.

Let's be honest, the Pixel hardware this year is largely great, fingerprint scanner aside. It's an easy fix for them for the 7.

It's been 4(?) months since launch of the Pixel 6 now and I am still loving this phone!
Normally by now I start to get a little bored and maybe start looking at another device just to change things up a bit. But I've never been so satisfied with a device.

Saying that though, I was very satisfied with my Z Flip 3 prior to the Pixel launch, so I'd like to think I'm maybe just getting better at not being tempted by every new release! ?.

The Flips camera wasn't great, though. So the Pixel definitely ticks that box.
I'm glad I ended up with a smaller 6. It is so much more 'Pixel' to me and feels Xperia like with its boxy design, which is a good thing IMO.

There's nothing even on the horizon I would want to swap this for either. I have no interest at all in Samsung flagships and whilst I'd happily use an iPhone again as I like iOS equally as much as Android, I don't feel the need too.
I am not in the ecosystem. I own an Apple watch (S3) and it's perfectly fine but if I don't wear it I don't even notice. And I own a 24" iMac which I love, but I don't feel like I'm missing out not having a compatible phone when I don't even use iMessage when I have an iPhone and I can access all my emails and photos from Google photos on it that are on my Pixel...

Maybe... Just maybe my tech obsession is lessening. I kind of wouldn't mind that. I have more than enough other things to spend my money on (home improvements etc!) so the saving from swapping every month will be handy.
Ad the Pixel is just so great for me. I absolutely love it and can't wait for the 7 as I hope they do improve that FPS and build on what I think is a pretty amazing phone.

Update coming Monday I guess did anyone hear anything about anything special other than the security patch

Whatchoo talking about? My Pixel 6 Pro is working just fine. It’s also been pretty sturdy so far. I’m currently having a bit more fun on my S22 Ultra. Yeah I can’t deny that. But the P6Pro has been really good to me, too. I’m glad I don’t have to choose between them.

I’ve just actually been using my S Pen like mad taking a lot of notes lately. And I do prefer the flatter (more subtle curved edges) display on the S22 Ultra. Extra zoom power is fun, too. But it doesn’t mean the P6Pro is deficient. And it was a fantastic price relative to the S22 Ultra for people who would have had to pay full prices on either.

Disappointed Live Caption and Live Transcribe don't work with Russian language considering one of the founders is Sergey Brin.
Live transcribe on English was useable but does need work. Still, I was surprised how well it “heard” what our pediatrician was saying during our tele conference. She had a tendency to turn away from the microphone on her computer so a lot of what she said was garbled to my ears but the Pixel managed to get what she was saying and transcribe it in some cases where my ears failed me.

Edit: sorry not sure we are talking about the same thing. I get my terminology mixed up. I’m using the record feature that then transcribes everything that’s recorded into text.

Yes...! Loved the Pixel 3 (and so apparently did everyone else) so of course they dumped that design and produced a series of duds to this day. I "like" my Pixel 5 mostly because of the cam, but returned 2 6's. Am even starting to rethink going back to the dreaded Samsung bloatshit!

If 6a has a better display than 6 and assuming camera is same as 5, I might try it.

The Pixel 6 was crapola for me.

Returned it and got a One Plus 8T for now which, other than the mediocre cameras is not a bad deal @$400 USD for 12/256 GB Android phone. Less bloatware than other options too.

Yeah my 6 Pro has been running like a champ. No issues for me at all.....

Getting an update a few days later than some doesn’t make me deem the phones complete crap.

I am loving the pro I just picked up after using the regular 6 for a few weeks. I had so many issues with the FP scanner on the regular 6 and it works wayyyy better on the pro so far. Makes me think the glass screen protector caused the issues since my pro doesn’t have a glass protector.

I’ve had both and never had a protector on the regular 6 and had the same results as you. I believe they are the same FP sensor, but I’ve had better luck with the pro. Weird!

Same. If I didn't have the S22U id have very little to complain about other than the battery life being a hair below the other flagship devices and it would be my main phone. The Tensor has trouble with some of the more graphic intense games but I figure that won't be an issue for most users. It's still a great phone and a great value at its price point.

And it continues. So glad I returned this joke of a phone. Once again the "star" of the show is sidelined. I bet there are still people here that are defending this pile of garbage of a phone.

Mine 6 Pro is as good as any Android I’ve ever had. Of I’ve only been a member of the club for about 5 years now but this phone and my P30 were as good as any phones I‘ve ever used. Even my FP scanner is 99.99 percent accurate. Sure the inefficient and dated Samsung (mainly 5G) modem is a buzzkill but otherwise I couldn’t be more happy.

My conscience is clean and I sleep very well at night defending this phone. It’s been a pleasure being my first Pixel.
