One thing I noticed is the Pixel defaults to a very cool almost bluish white balance. Which is how I got the blue kitty in my avatar photo. I think these photos are good but they do look really cool toned even on my ridiculously warm iPhone display.

How do they look to everyone else?
I agree ..I was messing with these pics and manual intervention is needed on plenty of the pics ...

Curious how this first early release of Android 13 is? I would guess buggy AF, but fun to play with.
Not much bugs of yet.
Noticeably, Gboard backspace can't delete words continuously with single press. I don't like to use 3rd party keyboard so will still stuck with that for now.
And alarm clock on AOD lockscreen is only showing top half.

So far, network and signal are alright. Battery seems still par as 12L.

Guess I still need to monitor for few more days to see overall exp.
Living dangerous has been quite a norm with Android 12 monthly update so Tiramisu won't make much difference, I guess

Having owned both my Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 almost 4 months now, there's zero new phone out or coming I would even thinking of trading my 6 Pro for. My Pixel 6 Pro has been near flawless, and just so smooth, and fluid fast, with great battery life, and no major bugs. As far as Android phones go the 6 Pro is the top dog, and the way pure stock vanilla Android is meant to be.

I suppose 2022 only has one good phone due out, the Pixel 7 Pro. LOL Or maybe that Essential 2 phone.

I haven't had any problems with mine either. Not a deal breaker but I wish it had a flat screen.

I didn’t have any problems with mine either before the screen shattered and I opted for a 13 pro max as a replacement. Great phone and definitely miss it but I’ll hold out for 7 pro in hopes of Google sorting out all of the issues with the 6.

On the other hand, not to brag but after getting 10+ hrs of SOT with the 13 pro max its hard to consider other options. I can throw anything at it and the phone handles the task like a champ. 120hz looks nice but not as noticeable compared to my 6 pro. I miss the pixel specific features a lot though. Call spamming is so bad with iOS.

That I do agree. The only gripe I have of the Pixel 6 Pro is the curved edge screen, I am not a fan whatsoever. The iPhone 12 / 13 line with their FLAT displays should be the industry standard.

Any new phone in the year 2022 with a rounded edge screen is a joke, and should not be purchased.

Please include me in the anti-curved screen crowd. After I discovered how easy it was to install the $10 glass screen protectors off of Amazon I realized just how much I hated trying to get the Whitestone Dome screen protectors correct.

I’m an outlier, apparently. Being forced to use massive flagship phones for the top-tier camera tech, and after using even an iPhone 13 Pro, I much prefer curved screens/edged phones. it just (to me) makes it so much easier and comfortable to hold. Even the iPhone 13 Pro got annoying due the sharp edges and that’s a smaller phone. I hated the in-hand feel.

My only complaint about the Pixel 6 Pro is the glossy back. They need a matte finish as the phone is way slippery in the hand. But the curved screen is fine by me. Makes it feel less massive than it actually is unlike an iPhone Pro Max being so wide and flat.

That's actually a fair point. When I owned the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the sharp square edges were uncomfortable, and not nice in the hand, even though I LOVED the flat display, where the Pixel 6 Pro surely is way more comfortable and feels great in the hand, minus the slipperiness.

Oh I was just thinking, what’s the feeling amongst the anti-curved screen crowd about something like the iPhone 6 era and beyond where it had flat screens but glass that curved around the sides? Is that a good compromise or is that a no-go as well lol.

I actually thought that felt great in the hand too.

I’ve recently, before the Pixel 6 Pro, had a couple of Huawei phones and an Oppo Find X2 Pro and I’m just used the curved screens I guess. It really doesn’t bother me.

But it’s been mentioned here before, I want high-end camera tech in smaller damn phones like Apple finally started doing now. That’s my number one beef since I hate how this big phone trend has run amok.

It will get a 2nd shot after I wipe and update my phone, but main SIM is out of the Pixel and now in my iPhone 13 Pro as a secondary line.

Our company just recently closed with an acquisition, which triggered some fast tech changes, including that of needing to pull my accounts from my iphone (attached to work) and assign my Pixel to the new company profile. This is where things started to go south fast.

- Perhaps it was Microsoft's fault, but Outlook was unstable and crashed often
- When using the Speakerphone (needed for the hundreds of transition conference calls) the Pixel (Many more times than once, would derail into a squelching "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!" that would not end until I hung up on the call.
- I thought it was only the phone app that did that, but Teams did that 2x too
- Alarms on the phone would either disable, or not sound

All of these were show stoppers, I can't be late for appointments, and I need a communication device that actually communicates!

There were some other bugs with the messages app, and Voicemail was a bit unreliable of giving me a notification.

Hoping a wipe / reload fixes it, but I don't have time to swap phones again for a bit, still drinking from the firehose with the new company.

The iPhone is the only way to go when you need a reliable phone that works consistently day in day out. iOS may not be as fun as Android and Apple may move a little slower than Google but you can count on both iOS and Apple when you need to. I have yet to use an Android that I felt the same way about and that includes every single Pixel phone Google has released.

I've used my Pixel every day since launch. And it's never not once been unreliable. Same with any other Android phone I've used.

If Android devices were not reliable, people wouldn't use them in their millions.

I think I am dealing with the curse of the old leadership of the company that we left more than the phone itself.

The 6 has been really good up until recently. Have had little problems with iPhones or Pixel devices over the years, so going to give this device the benifit of the doubt for now. I do miss my Pixel as a daily operator, the influx of SPAM calls I wasn't getting a few days ago is a huge pain point for me.

My needs are basic but I have not encountered any bug that has rendered my Android phones where I can’t use it and I have been using Android phones since 2010.

Yup. It's a nonsense comment tbh.
Every phone has some issue. Be it little or small. Not every one will be perfect or alike and some will be an absolute lemon that's DOA.

But to say the only reliable option in the smartphone world is an iPhone is... ?

My observations, I bought all 3 new Pixel phones last year;

-Pixel 5a
-Pixel 6 Pro
-Pixel 6

Hands down, no question, the 6 Pro is the smoothest most fluid phone of the three, not even a competition, the 6 Pro is the clear king with zero lag, no hiccups, etc...

The 5a, is the opposite, it's actually laggy and choppy, I gave that to my Wife, and when I play around with it, the 5a feels like a old phone, with poor performance.

The regular Pixel 6 is in the middle, it's an ok phone, but not amazing, the 6 Pro is clearly smoother and faster feeling. The regular 6 feels a bit underwhelming with the haptics being weak, and the refresh rate is a noticeable difference between the 6 Pro's. I wish Google would have given the Pixel 6 the exact same hardware as the Pixel 6 Pro.

Just my quick impressions.

What is the starting point of setup usually for you?

From my personal experience, it all starts from wallpaper setup to phone case/skin and followed by accessories setup to get all in synergy.

Pre-ordered XM4 earpiece skin with Silverblack wood+brushed aluminium combo to get the minimalist industrial look.
