Literally a Samsung could never.
Sorry to say it, but this is why pixels are still so far ahead. EVERYTHING in focus, (all parts of the subject, I mean) details are mind blowing.
Doggo also gorgeous. :)
Pixels are NOT far ahead. Samsung, Apple and the others have caught up and in some regards past them. And you are wrong. All parts of the subject are not in focus. Take another hard look at the photo. And the noise is just horrible for such good lighting. My iPhone 12 Pro takes better shots than this with much better detail. Don't get me wrong. The photo is great but no way is it far ahead of the others. I am hoping the Pixel 6 lets Google take the lead again because it will make them all better but as it stands now they are not the ones your measure photos by.

I've already looked at the photo and commented my opinion. I don't need to look at it again, or be patronised. I'm pleased you like your iPhone camera. :)

I have all 3 phones and most of the time the Pixel 4XL takes as good as or better than my PM12, S21 Ultra.
It outshines the S21 for anything that is moving or has motion. My s21 Ultra will produce blurry pictures for moving objects. My PM12 takes great shots but IMHO it should be leaps better than the P4XL that is 2 years old and it is not.

Pixel 4 XL is still a beast of a smartphone, minus the crappy battery life, other than that, the 4 XL running Android 12 beta 5 is AMAZING, and yes it takes great Portrait shots still. Plus the design of the 4 XL with the white smooth back is classic. For the 4 XL being two years old, you'd never guess that, with the new Android 12 on it, it just feels like a fresh current phone release.

I have the new Pixel 5a, I just installed Android 12 beta 5 on it, and it's great, and looks so fresh, but for some reason the 4 XL running the same beta just feels smoother and more fluid than the 5a, like zero micorstutter on the 4 XL, but there's a slight tiny bit on the 5a.

I also have the iPhone 12 Pro Max, will now be selling or retiring, the still photos on the 12PM are disappointing to say the least, it just doesn't wow me in the photos at all, except videos, yes videos are great on the 12 Pro Max. But both the Pixel 4 XL and 5a absolutely take better still shots.

Why are you surprised that the 4xl runs better than the 5a? The 765G is a LOT slower than the 855, it can’t even keep up with the 845 in the 3xl’s multicore performance but the 855 is 25%+ faster across the board.

Flagship vs flagship it’s honestly getting difficult to tell them apart in normal use. Only heavy apps tend to show the benefit of newer processors, everything else is milliseconds worth of difference. The 855 should also take better photos than the 765G with the same camera due to a better ISP.

I hope the Pixel 6/6Pro reestablishes what a flagship phone is supposed to be and how it’s supposed to perform. Right now, with the existing lineup, matters are a bit confusing.

Getting back quickly to iPhones aren’t perfect either, oh man, today we had a major fail with iMessage and notifications. I was shocked because there’s no apparent reason for the failure. I separately texted my husband. My kid that was with me did as well. Unfortunately nobody else was home that we could have reached at that moment. He never got any notifications on his phone which was near him nor his Apple Watch that was on his wrist. He did get some I had sent to him about half an hour prior so it makes no sense he didn’t get these.

For me, this was a new experience, but my kids say it’s always happening to them that an iMessage is sent and no alarms go off and even the Apple Watch doesn’t notify them. My husband said he had a do not disturb turned on, but all of us are set to ring through. And usually do. But today we didn’t, so he missed his texts from us and it was important but fortunately not critical. But we don’t want a repeat of that. However we don’t know how to avoid it. It’s just something that should work yet doesn’t. At least not consistently. Come to think of it, it’s possible it may have happened with texts sent to me.

So now we are thinking as a family of switching to something like Signal or god forbid even WhatsApp, though I’m fighting that one. But my husband has it because he has to use it for contacts in Europe.

But if we make that switch I could possibly be able to turn the Pixel to my main phone, at least for a while. It’s been iMessage tethering us to iPhone dependency. Though I appreciate navigation assistance on the Apple Watch, too.

It would make me a green bubble person to my friends though. Lol.

I still am very fond of my iPhone Mini and it’s my preferred size of phone. But I’m eager to try Android 12 on a Pixel again.

But I’m not sure now if I want to do that on the gigantic Pixel Pro or the slightly smaller Pixel 6. I’m still trying to figure out my purchase strategy.

The time to decide will be here soon enough!

iPhone leaks are pouring in. I keep looking for Pixel ones. All I’ve seen is a leak about the Google Watch. It looks cute. I don’t hold out much hope it’s going to separate me from an Apple Watch, though.

I’m not expecting 2021 flagship performance from the P6/6 Pro. I’m guessing the Snapdragon 870-level performance numbers are probably closer to what’s going to happen. A bit better than 2020’s 865 but a bit less than 2021’s 888.

Never had any issues with iMessage notifications ever so can’t help you there. It’s one of the most reliable things about the iPhone. The only time I ever had issues period was when my carrier mucked it up and Apple had to fix it. It’s been rock solid otherwise.

I wished they would do the smaller Pro and large Pro... Seems they keep the screen sizes too close... That would make more peeps happy....
That's what I love about the P4a and the P4a 5G. I purchased both last year and I love the difference in sizes. On paper the screen size between both didn't seem too drastic until you held them both in your hand. I prefer big phones but I quickly got used to the P4a size. It's lighter and easily fits in my back pocket.

They definitely did a great job with the sizes of the 4a series... I also prefer larger and went with 4a 5G.. Pixel 5 was a small sized phone too... It's nice though to go out and pocket a small phone.. these Pixel 6 will be big for sure...

Do we think that the 6 and 6 Pro will signal the end of the A series?
Seems a bit odd having a full premium pro model, and then a smaller, slightly less premium model and then an A phone.

Although thinking of it as I type, the A series is much more budget friendly and uses different chips and materials to keep costs way down. So I've answered my own question really. 😜
Wonder what a 6A would compromise.

when it comes to photos I think a lot is colour preference. Pixel still is the king for portrait photos of pets I would say. And stills takes some amazing shots but I wouldn’t say it’s better than 12 pro max or s21 ultra. The key thing is though the pixel competes very closely with new models with old sensors. In theory new sensors should mean pixel takes back the crown as camera king but time will tell. That said whatever flagship phone you buy you will get amazing photos these days.

I dunno. The fact that my 3xl doesn't blow out the reds and make me look like a tomato has already put it head and shoulders over the 12 Pro Max in my eyes.

I think for people it’s still really great and moving objects pixel is still unmatched for this

You might be right I can only base things on what I’ve seen when I get the pixel 6 pro it will likely blow me away

One area where 12 pro max disappoints me is night mode or bad low light situations I hope of improves for 13 pro max

What colour you going for?

I might go with the cream color Pixel 6 Pro!!!

What are you thinking of going for?

This is the best time of year!
Get the 13 Pro Max and then the Pixel 6 Pro both in just a few weeks apart!!
I’m getting the 13 Pro mini. Not sure I’m preordering it though. I have a green mini and a purple mini. I’m trading the green in. Since 13 is the last mini, I may wait to do that trade in the spring because it’s not like waiting that long will push me up against the release of an iPhone 14 mini.

Purple Mini was a special gift, so I’m keeping it. It’s also absolutely perfect. Green mini has lesser quality display. My 12 Pro Max display is also not great, especially stood next to my purple mini display. The purple mini rules over them all and even seems to have a magically fantastic battery that’s held out through some rough days of hard use, therefore keeping me from buying the MagSafe battery for it.

I’m not sure how accurate Prosser’s iPhone 14 leak is this time, but I do think he’s on the right track and THAT is the pro iPhone I want. So I’m not sure I’m trading up the 12 Pro Max I’ve got to 13 Pro Max. I really need to see the keynote presentation to make up my mind on that. My general inclination is to hang onto my 12 Pro another year. With my sensitivity to pwm being a factor, I do worry a little they’ve changed the displays yet again. But for me, every phone upgrade is a gamble in that respect.

I really want to see the pricing on everything! Especially the Pixels. I’m juggling a lot of variables. If I don’t want to preorder a 13 Pro Max, I can splurge on the Pixel 6 Pro. If I decide I want the 13 Pro Max, I may have to go Pixel 6 and defer going all out until next year. It won’t be the full supersized experience you’re getting but it would still be Pixelly. :D And probably still a bit of a wallet melter.🤣

I’m glad the iPhones are coming out first.

I am trying to pick out colors. I guess if I get the regular 6, I’ll get coral. If I get 6 Pro I am torn between the cream and the white.

Honestly I am disappointed they don’t offer the ones we’d seen in the leaks with the reddish Orange top and white lower half. Those colors really popped!

I hope Google continues to offer a fabric case. Some people hate them but they’re among my favorites.

Thanks for finding and posting the commercials!

Those pixel cases look cool to me. So I hope it comes in black again for the new series.

Never had a case like that got to admit. I always stick to the apple silicone case and decided I waste too many cases so I plan to buy just the one case for both models.

Lol the only time I almost regretted my love of Pixel fabric cases was when I went on an outing with friends and their little girl came down sick with a bad cold while we were out and was very fussy. To distract her from her misery, since we were more or less stuck out there for the day, I taught her how to use the AR Playground feature on the Pixel 2 camera to insert her favorite characters into photos. Anybody remember the porg photos @jamezr was posting here a few years ago? So she was doing that, with a badly runny nose and grubby fingers. 🤣 When I got home I just threw caution to the wind and washed that case under running water and some shampoo. It cleaned up and dried just fine. Whew!

Oh I really do miss that feature. Even the tweens and teens loved it. Some stodgy adult pundit over on Android Central said good riddance to it. Obviously he’s not a parent and/or lacks a sense of whimsy. But I was gutted to find out Google killed it. It didn’t detract from the more serious functions of the phone, after all. Maybe they will bring it back for the new phones. I think it was killed when they decided to kill the neural processing core for the budget friendly phone releases that followed.

So anyway, I’ve been spending my early lunch hour looking at videos and articles. Damn, I badly want that 4X Zoom. It frustrates the hell out of me my iPhone 12 Pro Max only goes up to 2.5. Most of the time I’m okay. I mean, usually I carry a 12 mini that doesn’t zoom at all optically. But on vacations I was using the heck out of my S21 Ultra. I don’t even need or want a “pervert zoom”. 🤣 4x optical is sufficient at this stage of the game. I don’t suppose Apple is upping their zoom game on 13?

Tell me about it can’t wait til iPhone gets real zoom. Don’t think it’s getting it til 2022 periscope lens wise

I’m betting with google software the zoom quality will be better than Samsung’s version and that’s really great up to 30x
