Well, Apple SOT is misleading. Rather than go from the last full charge, they go off of the last 24 hours. So those times might include topping up the battery or using while on the charger.
I am well aware of that issue. I never take what IOS tells me for battery life as true. I can watch my battery stay at 100% for what seems like for ever. Then even out in the long run.
My S21 ultra and 12 PM get about even battery life for me and my useage.

Yeah we had that misleading battery percentage discussion on here before. Of course the Apple people jumped in and made excuses for why Apple did it. They refused to believe that Apple does it to mislead users and make them think battery life is better than it is.

I think the issue is getting their carriers to support the phone, though. I know when my husband imported a Huawei a few years ago when they still worked in the USA, there was the issue of knowing there wouldn’t be any carrier support for it. Some bands would not be supported, too. So it’s more involved than just getting the phone into your hand.
The majority of phones are capable of worldwide use with enough bands to cover what you need, the Pixel being one of them. Easy to find out what bands you need. Depends how much you want a particular phone.

There's still issues with lack of support. Support can encompass everything from manufacturer support for warranty issues like ordinary product repair and returns. As well as extraordinary support like recalls. Carrier support can refer to working with the customer to ensure all potentially available features are provisioned.

Edit: let me add these are factors my husband and I considered in the past when we contemplated importing phones ourselves. I really shouldn’t speak for our fellow forum members regarding the Pixel, so I apologize and will step out of this discussion and hope they provide their reasons to you directly if they wish.

Anyone catch the benchmark leaks? Not that I'm a fan of benchmarks or anything, but tells us a little bit more about the device

Well, was going to post a link but is a freaking paragraph. Way to go google with your paragraph link full of gibberish amp pages and referrer links. 🤦‍♂️

It's on gsm arena.

On a side note I'm slowly losing interest in the device 😶

Edit; a pruned down link that took longer than it should have (another reason I'm losing interest in this stuff) anyone is interested...

Never read into pre releases benchmarks they are likely fake

Benchmarks never tell the whole story anyway. Performance will be perfectly good on the new pixel phones

Yeah I saw that. It’s not making me lose interest but it’s making me cautious in my enthusiasm. What I might do is go for the regular 6 this time and trade up next generation. Or wait for actual reviews if I really want the 6 Pro’s cameras.

I think it’s going to be a good phone. But I’m really wary of them charging Apple prices and delivering hardware that still isn’t comparable. I know the magic is in their software integration. But at prices near $1k, I need more assurances on the hardware due to their track record.

You are spot on with above reasons. And looking at previous Pixels they have not been immune to manufacturing/QC issues. So having manufacturer support is quite important for me at least.
Also i´ll add that VoLTE and Wifi calling are a few things that historically have not worked on Pixels. Granted i have not kept up with this for a couple of years so i don´t know if there has been any changes from our carriers. I.e accepting devices so that as long as they follow the standard guidelines then they are approved and works instead of carriers needing to approve and add every single device manually which has resulted in Pixels being ignored by carrier certification since they are not officially sold here.
Also CA for better 4G/LTE speeds (LTE-A) is something that historically has not worked on devices imported/not officially supported by carriers.

So sure. One can import but it is not without significant tradeoffs in my opinion.

Of course this is just my experience with Google Support so YMMV. Last year I purchased both the Pixel 4a and later the Pixel 4a 5G. Unbeknownst to me that it was a software bug from a software update that was later reported where the 2020 Pixel phones would just freeze. You could turn the screen on and off but you had to basically restart the phone to clear the problem.

I was unaware of the problem until after the fact but I contacted Google Support, we started a chat and they determined it was the phone. Apparently they also had NO clue it was a software bug they created. Anyway, they sent me out a new phone and I returned my defective phone. It was pretty straightforward from what I can recall. They even told me about a hold on my account if I wanted the phone to ship within 24hrs or I could send my phone in and they would ship out a new phone once they received it with no CC required.

I opted for the 1st option and I received my new phone in 2 days via FedEx. They created a return label and I sent them my defective Pixel 4a and that was it. My experience was the way it should be but from what I've read Apple is the gold standard for product support where you get to talk to a rep on the phone and they help you out.

You had a good experience but I assume you are in a country where Google actually sells their phones in physical stores and/or online. They do not do this in my location so I won't go through the hassle and risk of obtaining a Pixel via indirect means.

That's kinda my point, everyone is so keen on numbers and benchmarks like they are the only thing that matters. I don't pay attention to stuff like this, I just want a stutter free device that works, not that it has 10% more ghz in the CPU. I just tossed the link up here because I thought there might be some interesting things for number peepers and it was info on the phone some of us might be interested in :)

The specs and supposed benchmarks are NOT what is making me lose interest in the device.

Ignore this quoted post. The site cached the reply I made earlier on my 12 Pro Max and I am now on my 12 mini and I can’t reply without this post quote permanently inserting itself.

Anyway, what I wanted to say NOW, was that I had good service from Google the time I needed it. But yeah, if I were in another country they don’t serve, I’d not risk it on a Pixel that’s as expensive as this one is feared to be.

I’m still super excited about the 6/6 Pro. It’s just hard to throw all caution to the wind, because I usually get new phones steeply discounted via trade and can’t do that this time. (Samsung has spoiled me). And the months after summer and leading up to Christmas, I’m trying to be conservative with my money because there are so many family birthdays and anniversaries and then of course there’s Christmas.

So, I started out thinking yeah go big or go home, lol. Rah rah roarrrrrrr!

But then I started making note of what the kids and other family members want for their birthdays and what my husband wants for his, and plans for our anniversary and so forth. So then my mind starts playing on a loop Osterloh’s quote about the price of this thing:eek: 🤣

So the Pixel 6 is looking a lot more attractive to me now! And even so, if it’s close to $800-$900, I’m nervous diving into the unknown after a few years away, especially.

Save your money so you can spend it on loved ones and create memories. You are not short of working phones. I know it is your hobby or obsession but step back this time and see how things go. Just a suggestion :)

iPhone 13 Pro Max looks mostly like a rehash so now to see what Pixel 6 Pro has to offer.

As for benchmarks, you can't benchmark smarts with traditional benchmark apps. Plus, a lot of apps are GPU bound and not CPU bound.

It doesnt look like a rehash, it is a rehash. Its the iPhone 12 with high refresh. Dont get me wrong, that will be great and so smooth. But theres not a single innovative or forward thinking thing announced by Apple today.

That was the worst iPhone event I think I've ever witnessed. Had I still had my 12 Mini, there would not ne a single thing to make me want to 'upgrade'. Same with the Pro model which is particularly weak.

And where have the fun colours gone? Truly terrible.

I'm glad though! Means I get to keep my Flip 3 til Pixel 6 Pro!

Going to reserve saying full rehash until I get one in hand to test. A few potential BS red flags popped up though. For ProMotion, the first thing they demonstrated was browsing when current ProMotion on iPad Pro is limited to 60Hz. And, claims about performance when iPhone 12 Pro Max throttles under sustained load. Same 5nm node and can't see difference in architecture making much of a difference to change that.

Macro mode as well is cool and be very useful. A bit more optical zoom is cool. Guess the only thing to save it would be if those bigger sensors improve photos by a good amount. Guess time will tell.

but yes it very much seems like an s year.

ProMotion and the slightly narrower notch could have been in last year's 12 Pro line if Apple pushed and so desired.

But then they'd have nothing left for this year's new phone. LOL man Apple truly has jumped the shark.

And where's AoD ( Always on Display ) on the 13 Pro line? And no matte black color either. WTF Apple? This is a side-grade at best.

Thank God for the Pixel 6 line coming next month.

All the die hards have got is the new colour to tell everyone they have the newest phone. Damn shame. 🤣.

From a Pixel perspective, it's a shame the phone comes quite a bit after the iPhone, as they would have been in with a big shot at stealing some customers this year I think.
If marketed correctly they could definitely have poached a few sales! Maybe they still will?!

Oh, but next year is the big year for Apple upgrades. Yawn.

Don't care what reviewers say, what benchmarks say, or what issues it may have or what the price is, I'm getting a 6 Pro and will enjoy it until I switch again next year. Note 22 perhaps?

One thing that does irk me a bit with the new design of Android 12 and the screenshots we have seen for Pixel 6, is the icons. I like how they all adapt to fit in with your background / wallpaper, but is this system forced for ALL apps?

Or is it like an icon pack where the big / popular apps are changed to fit the design but the lesser known apps end up being a logo shoved into a random shape to match the rest of the apps as close as possible? As there's literally nothing worse to me than that.
I guess time will tell but I didn't know if anyone who has been on the beta could confirm.
