Tough choice …both Sammy and Google are good choices…Google phone is $700 at the Google Store sale …Pro model
It is, but we are a few short months from the new Pixel and Samsung phones. If this deal was available during BF last year then it would be a no brainer but now, if it were me i'd pause because the Pixel 7's and the S23's are right around the corner.

Samsung Unpacked event next month (10th?). Hoping for some good updates to the Flip 4, as I’d like that to be my next phone.

For anyone interested in a new Google Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, they are currently on sale at Google, Amazon, Best Buy and maybe other places for $499 (6) and $699 (6 Pro). Yet another "Prime Day" or "Black Friday in July" type promotion.

I would not be expecting too many major changes on the P7 plus the price will be higher ...S23 is still far away ...

Never dark mode. Looks awful in WhatsApp and the Android widgets have really awful colour ways when in dark mode. Like dark browns etc. Yak.

Light, light, light. 🙂

So I finally got the invite for Beeper and have it set up (I signed up in January 2021). The Pixel is sending and receiving iMessages just fine (for now). I’ve been waiting many, many, many years for something like this to come along.

On Saturday (Australian Eastern Time) I bought a Pixel 6 and Pixel Buds-A and had nothing but problems with both.

1) I could not set up Google Pay - I used to have it working under Pixels 3,4,5. This is still an ongoing issue (support ticket opened etc)
2) Connectivity was atrocious - battery suffered
3) PWM spectral type screen which gave me headaches

Pixel Buds-A
1) Sounds shifted heavily to left bud

I was really spewing as I have come from Pixel 3,4 and 5. Ended up returning it yesterday (Wednesday, Melbourne time). Was sad to have to do so, but it was just unworkable. Customer rep tried to talk me into going to S22, but I couldn’t deal with Exynos CPU (still have my old S7 Edge).

Didn’t think I’d come up against the problems that have been documented in various forums, but there you go.

The 6 Pro is $699 on Google’s website. Whew! I wonder why the price drop?
IMO, the biggest reason is to clear out as much stock as they can because the 7 Series are almost due in about 3 months. The other reason probably has to do with Amazon Prime Day. Every major retailer is having their version of Prime Day. So why not Google having a sales event? That said I would not bite unless my daily driver broke and I had no backup. The timing is way too close to the launch of the new phones.

Oh crazy! I'm sorry to hear about all the issues encountered. Guess it wasn't meant to be with the pixel... What are you using for your daily now?

The sale price on the Pixel is definitely prime Day deals going around and all the places matching and trying to drum up some more sales. I think it's great to see and I personally would scoop up a 6 pro for that price for my experience. Totally worth it ..

Still with the iPhone 12. Really, really love Pixel and wish it’d worked but I guess my luck was going to run out. Only time I ever had an issue with Pixel was the 3 and its mic. P6 is awesome for the way it’s been engineered, but for me the sum of the components just didn’t play out!

Hopefully you'll be able to jump in on the next one... Maybe it was meant to be and you'll have a great experience when you try to come over again

I like Nova launcher but find myself sticking with the Pixel launcher on the last couple of Pixel phones.
Changing the subject slightly but two things I wouldn't mind seeing in the Pixel launcher is to be able to colour theme third party icons like native Google apps will do (to sort of match your wallpaper) and also to be able to do something with that Google search bar.

Changing the color of third party icons as well as those in the Pixel Launcher icon drawer is one of my top request along with customizing the icon colors instead of the 4 preselects. As far as removing the Google Search bar, I don’t see that happening as that‘s where Google makes its money from searches and advertising.

So, my S22 has this really cool feature where I can stack widgets, similar to iOS. Anyway to do this on my Pixel 6?
