I still don't get why Google haven't got date for announcement what is there to gain now? Google have done a mini announcement already with basic specs/look just give a date ? Also I was thinking the day before iPhone announcement would have been in Google favour it would have basically forced all media to make the comparison which would equal free press for Google what a missed opportunity

It will probably take Google at least a couple of years to catch up with this. I agree, it's absolutely astonishingly good and easily worth an upgrade for everyone - even 12 Pro Max owners.
The 12 Pro Max already has a great macro mode using Camera+, I’m surprised no one has mentioned it yet.

Having it away from another major launch gives them more attention and sole focus on their product.

And I don't get why people are saying Google should just release the phone now. Anyone ever heard of release targets and deadlines companies work to?

October is perfect time IMO... Now you know us enthusiasts want it yesterday haha... It's same as shipping threads on all forums... Peeps tracking and refreshing FedEx every half hour lol

Apart from the unfocus issue the 13 Pro Max macro doesn't look any different than the Galaxy S21 Ultra which I haven't used as much as the 10x and 30x zoom. It's not macro enough like 3x optical isn't zoom enough.

In your opinion. Macro mode wouldn't be enough for me to upgrade.
Same here. On the other hand macro mode, increased optical zoom, better battery life, brighter display with 120hz refresh, faster processor…might well be enough for many to upgrade. I’m fine with staying on my 12 Pro Max though.

Also, I doubt adding a macro mode would take Google “a couple of years to catch up with”. They might not choose to focus on that (sorry about the pun) because honestly it’s not a huge deal, but if they did I’m sure they could do it in a year. They might already have it coming up with the Pixel 6. As I said above, the app Camera+ adds a quite impressive macro mode to any of today’s supported iPhones, and that’s just using software - which in itself is quite remarkable that Apple themselves haven’t implemented earlier. I mean, I’m getting great macro shots with the Camera+ LEGACY app, meaning not even the second version which has been out for three years (yeah I’m cheap lol). And, I have been ever since my iPhone 7 Plus.

Knowing Google they will use software to make things comparable even without a main macro camera focus

Probably been asked already any guesses when the phone is actually announced or available to pre order? I'm hoping it's October 5th I have seen a news article that Google has a event that day with the added rumour that android 12 goes live October 4th..

Google reached out to most of those places saying the information was wrong and there is nothing happening on the 5th.

Whose idea to announce so far in advance that people start to lose interest waiting for so long? Hopefully they manage to reignite the interest right before it actually comes out.

It could be worse, Google could have pulled a Sony and announced the phone in Feb before releasing in August. :p
Compared to their bull **** ‘launches’ this wait doesn’t seem so bad!

I am so hyped though. Looking forward to having a good zoom the most I think. Been ages since I had a phone with a decent telephoto. I much prefer it over an ultra wide, personally.

Ultra wide is important to me mainly because I married into a huge family and fitting us all into one photo at family gatherings or vacations was just about impossible until LG introduced the wide angle on smartphones a few years ago. At least they’re the first company whose phone I almost bought for that feature.

I think it was around the time Samsung released the S8 series which, along with the LG G7 (or was it the 6?) normalized the long thin displays.

So that ultra ultra wide lens became a must have for me, because I could still get decent digital zooms if I had to, but there’s only so many steps back I can take trying to fit 4 generations of a huge family in one frame. 🥵

I used to carry an SLR around to get photos of them. But such a big camera made everyone self conscious. Once smart phone photography was good enough for me to record these kinds of memories, I got so many candid funny moments! Lol I got very sneaky!

I’m very excited to see what Google does with the Pixel photography. I haven’t lost any interest, either. I’m just trying to get an idea how to align my upgrades in a financially sound way. The QC is the big wildcard for me.

I'm going to guess the pricing will be;

- $899 Pixel 6
- $1099 Pixel 6 Pro

Keep in mind the Pixel 5 launched @ $800 last year on release. And these new phones will command a premium way over that phone.

As much as I love the Pixel line, time has proven over and over that buying one at launch forces you to pay a premium. And come Black Friday or Christmastime they will offer deals and slash prices briefly. It's just frustrating because almost every time a month or two later you can get the newest Pixel phone for like $200 off or better sometimes.

I forgot pixel 5 was $800 so thinking more along your prices about right... Hopefully they do have some sales and we heard they were going to have better Trade in offers but I'm not holding my breathe since Google always had crappy incentives

I think 1099 seems likely based on it starting at 256GB. I think it won’t be 1099 in US. I think in UK this is what it will be

Wouldn't make sense to price it more than the competition, the $1099 iPhone 13 Pro Max 128GB, so worst case $1099 and best case $999 for the Pixel 6 Pro 128GB as that price point would disrupt the flagship sector and convert users into the Google ecosystem.

Okay so $758 and $1050. Based on converting the euros given to my American $ currency.

I am definitely waiting for sales and seeing trade in deals and reviews. It’s the only way I can get the Pro version to fall into the target I’ve set without sacrificing the Mini 2 to Mini 3 trade I want to make in the spring—now looks like I’ll delay that to the early summer, as well.

Actually it’s necessary to get even the regular 6 to fall into my target.
