My question on pricing is going back last year and Google selling the Pixel 5 for $800. And clearly even the base model Pixel 6 is a big upgrade over that phone, thus meaning Google wouldn't sell the P6 for less than the P5. So my point the Pixel 6 will be minimum $849, and the P6 Pro probably $1,049 like the pricing on the Pro Max's and Galaxy Ultra phones the larger versions always command a $200 premium over their smaller versions.

I hope I'm wrong and we see the Pixel 6 start @ $699 and the Pixel 6 Pro @ $899, but I just don't see Google doing that. Even the base model Pixel 4 XL launched @ $899, but that was two years ago, and phone prices have gone up since.

So maybe, just maybe we so the P6 @ $799 and P6 Pro @ $999, that would be the lowest starting price to expect in my opinion.

Pixel 6 £799
Pixel 6 pro £999/1099

Can't see the phones any cheaper than iPhone 13 series or pixel 5 .

Is it true that only the 6 Pro will support 5G UWB? If so hard pass for me. After using iPhones 12 and 13 Pro Max I can’t go back to curved screens, so I was considering getting the regular 6. I live in an area blanketed in Verizon UWB and it’s fantastic.

Yeah I think they are trying to save as much for the pro line as possible.

Well I’ve had my 13 Pro for a week now. And I’ve realized I’ve waited for all of these refinements to the camera so I can end up with the same camera performance as my Samsung S21 Ultra.

sigh

I get really amazing photos from both phones. But both have cameras that are noticeably slow to boot up and noticeably take a hair too long to focus on a moving subject in dim light. Lol there go the great cat photos! I really wonder about if the benefits of LiDAR are worth the drawbacks I personally believe I’m seeing.

Meanwhile my 12 mini instantly boots up and focuses and catches in-focus photos. I get some blurry ones on the 13 Pro. iOS 15 is a bit of a mess, too.

I still don’t know if I’ll be able to get a Pixel 6/6 Pro because I really can’t spare the money during the launch. I was hoping to get it in the late winter like previous years. But it looks like shortages are going to make that plan challenging. I hope my friends here have their button masher fingers ready for the launch! This looks like as good a time as any could possibly be to try a Pixel!

How's the zoom on the 13 Pro? Impressed with 10x and 30x on the S21 Ultra. Was able to catch a hummingbird zooming around at 30x that would've barely visible to the naked eyes.

Wow that’s impressive—referring to the hummingbird photo. I get inconsistent results across the board White balance can be very different in different photos taken in the same room, for example. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact that’s probably more like SLR camera results. It’s just something to get used to with an iPhone camera.

Digital zoom is okay. The 3x zoom is very nice and wonderful for portraits but you have to stand a lot further away from your subject now.

The more features they give these cameras, the less smooth they work. There are now more operational points where lag gets introduced into the equation. First is the more complex focusing system with the fancy depth mapping. That’s a pain point that introduces occasional focus hunting. Or you can actually see the view go totally blurry then suddenly goes in focus. I don’t know if that’s precisely focus hunting, but it’s annoying because that’s a fraction of a second to a second for your subject to move or change their facial expression.

Then there is moment of delay in which all of the computational processing gets applied and final result resolves itself. That’s annoying because you’re waiting to see if you need to retake a shot that might have been blurry. But your image is blurry for that moment and meanwhile the subject again has moved on. I end up taking more photos than I want or need just to make sure I’ll have one that’s focused. Because I sure as hell can’t tell that while all the AI magic is going on.

At least that’s my impression tfrom what I can see since the 11 Pro to 12 Pro Max to 13 Pro progression. The more simple 12 mini is a smoother more consistent point and shoot. Lol but it can’t get some results that the 13 Pro will yield with practice and patience. And yet, like the hummingbird photo, due to the simpler cameras speed and smooth operation allowed me to catch a cicada in flight. I would have missed that shot with my slightly pokey 12 Pro max and the even more pokey 13 Pro.

So anyway now the Pixel Pro cameras are about to get more complicated. I eagerly await the results but I can’t help but have a few concerns

So is there any legitimate source for what the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will truly sell for in the U.S.? I thought there was some UK price leak recently, but wasn't even sure if that was true or not?

I read a lot of rumors and guesses, but was just wondering if there's any real price leaks?

I've got my heart set on the regular Pixel 6, mainly for the flat screen, and I love that the overall size is pretty much identical to the Pixel 4 XL, which to me is about the perfect size for a smartphone.

The 6 Pro I'm sure will be a beast of a super smartphone, but it's a bit large for my tastes.

Only rumors at this point. I believe there was a tech reviewer that claimed to have inside info and showed screenshots of some internal pricing from a 3rd party seller that showed something like $799 for the Pixel 6 and $1099 for the Pixel 6 Pro.

Certainly getting closer

Hard to judge given how overcast the weather was and given it was pre released software but detail looks good

Yes my same feelings …person definitely running Pre release and didn’t seem too verse haha

You can't really judge anything by those photos and videos to be fair. Like he said, preproduction software, with someone who doesn't seem great at taking photos, and without any reference to how the actual environment looked when it comes to colors, brightness, etc .

If I had to take a wild guess, I would say the P6 Pro will be the best point and shoot camera on the market but will still lag behind the iPhone in video.

Apple is dialed in on video... Most likely the way it will turn out..

Sweet Cheezewhiz is this man trying to give me a seizure? What is with that obnoxious flashy background. I couldn’t watch the video after a certain point because I have a considerable amount of driving to do and can’t afford to be nursing a migraine or recovering from a seizure. I’m so 🤬 sick of these video reporters thinking they have to apply crazy Vegas Casino blindly graphics to sell their content.

Grumble grumble grumble. Get off my lawn you stupid kids!

So help a grouchy old lady out…what did he say the zoom range was on this thing?

I’m going to try again later when my brain recovers. I’ll zoom so it fills my display past where you can see the blinking.
