Thinking about picking up the A Buds for £99.
Just so I can have a pair to use exclusively with my Pixel. Really annoying putting my AirPods in when wanting to listen to music on my phone and they automatically pair with my iPad every time.

Also, with the free Bose headphone perk here in the UK, I should be able to make that £99 back and them some.
I’d probably try and find a pair of the Buds 2 on the cheap-if only for the wireless charging. Going to hold out and wait until Black Friday I think.

Ah not bothered about wireless charging. Plus I had the Buds 2 and there were issues with them which resulted in me returning them. The A Buds look perfect.

Question? How does eSim work? My Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 6 support eSim. I have one phone number and one physical Sim card from Mint Mobile. Do I have to power off the Pixel 4a 5G, insert the card into my Pixel 6, remove it then download the eSim from Mint Mobile?

Like others here I don’t need this phone as I’m happy with my iPhone 13 Mini but I’ve been wanting to dual wield for awhile now, so I ordered a Pixel 6 in Seafoam. I almost bought the Pixel 5 last year but I’m glad I waited. Both seem like solid devices this year, but for a secondary device the 6 seems like the right choice for me.

i am reposting this from @Bkdodger from another site :)
Great explanation about the Tensor chip and the architecture surround the Pixel 6

"Carmack continued, "You might use the two X1s dialed down in frequency so they're ultra-efficient, but they're still at a workload that's pretty heavy. A workload that you normally would have done with dual A76s, maxed out, is now barely tapping the gas with dual X1s."

The camera is a great case study, since previous Pixel phones have failed at exactly this kind of task. The Pixel 5 and 5a both regularly overheat after three minutes of 4K recording. I'm not allowed to talk too much about this right now, but I did record a 20 minute, 4K, 60 FPS video on a Pixel 6 with no overheating issues. (I got bored after 20 minutes.)"

The ARS article is a great read but it gets really technical
But video on the Pixel 6 should be amazing

"So what are those new capabilities? Here's one: the previous Pixel phones' incredible camera performance despite their ancient sensors is thanks to its HDR+ algorithm, which, with a single button press, does exposure stacking across 10 photos taken in half a second and merges them into a single photo using machine learning. Thanks to the ancient camera hardware, though, the video quality on Pixel phones has been pretty bad, because there's just no way that you can run something like image stacking on a video... until now! The Pixel 6 can run Google's HDR algorithm on 4K video for every single frame at 60FPS. Welcome to the world of video image stacking, brought to you by Google Tensor.

The video version of the HDR+ algorithm is called "HDR Net," and Google actually built a specific accelerator for this algorithm into the Tensor Image Signal Processor (ISP). Gupta said that this should "bring the signature Pixel look to videos.""

Pixel 6 Pro 128gb from Best Buy.

Excited but going to see how it serves my needs as the 6 and its flat screen looks enticing as well. Strange as I was all onboard for the pro beforehand. Either way, my use case is for the telephoto, best display (120hz), best battery (at least 8 to 9 hrs of sot, consistently, and content consumption.

I did 90hz screens on the 4xl and 5. I wanted something new and truly different. I usually find myself wanting to zoom in more for pictures more so than taking a ultra wide angle photo. I was in the opposite camp with the 5- super res zoom or digital zoom by google is good but is no competition to the telephoto of my pixel 4xl. I rather have it and not need than to not have at all. P4xl battery was shambles- some good days of sot and other atrocious days. P5 remedied this so looking for the same stellar performance the 5 gave me or better. Hopefully much better. I like to watch youtube videos, endlessly consume tiktok and reddit videos. Browse fb and IG. Enage on twitter. So consuming and interacting with that content should feel more enjoyable.

Questionable/ hesitant feelings

- I’m a big “how does it feel in my hand with everyday use sort of guy”. The iphone x era and pixel 4xl and 5 phones all had some stellar in-hand feelings. Absolutely loved the pixel 4xl in hand. The matte black rails with a slight, soft curve. The frosted glass backing…it was a designer’s phone. Even goating a lot iphone design cues imo

Side note- hate this new era of 12 and 13 iphones. Everyone romanticizes over the 4 and 5 era iPhones but to me the iphone x was peak design and was the last time I got butterflies over an iphone. The iphone 11 being the best of that era. Everything since then feels dated to me.

Anyway, the point I’m making is if the 6 pro begins to feel too unwieldy or totally lack luster in hand then I might give the 6 a try. Doubt it though from initial impressions and up close photos.

“The 6 pro does not feeling googley enough compared to the 6”

What does this mean? Based off what measure? The front screen? I think its all subjective to be honest and people need to wait to get the phone in person.

Lastly, the flat screen vs curve. My 12 pro display looks stunning but so does my 11 pro too and its not flat. My pixel 4xl had a beautiful display. As well as my 5. I know the general pulse are “curve screens suck and I wish this trend would end” from most tech enthusiasts. Maybe general public too but looking at close ups. Google seem to have done a great job with the curve screen. Its slight.

Why they chose this route? Who fu*king knows lol

I think I love it bc I wanted less bezels and the 6 has strong ones. So we will see. God willing, I pick mine up next Thursday at best buy.

Anyone else who primarily run iPhones doing prepwork to make the Pixel their primary device?

I have completed a few tasks that prove how lazy and comfy I was in the Apple Ecosystem. Thankfully all easy to resolve so far.

1. Updated my Google Home connections to include a bunch of the lights, switches and other devices I never properly integrated (I buy and use only devices that work in both ecosystems).

2. Added an email client to fetch my apple & other emails outside of gmail

3. updating my password manager to include items that used to only be in keychain (low priority sites)

4. Updated bookmarks within Chrome and Firefox (I use both) to include those I use in Safari.

Next steps for me.

1. Retest using my Apple Watch (with attached iMessage) while my main SIM is in a Pixel. I did this way back in the day when I purchased my LTE Apple Watch and moved my primary sim to pixel. Hoping it works the same if not better now.

2. Make a decision on using one of the various tools to get iMessages on the Pixel, or just respond with watch only when away from other iOS devices.

3.Decide on a dang case

4. try to enjoy the change ;)

I wasn’t able to get one yesterday. Is there still any place in the states where I can purchase it (I’m willing to take any color at this point) and still get it by launch week?

Or am I relegated to waiting until December (at which point I’d seriously consider dropping the idea and just sticking with the sealed 13 Pro Max I’ve had sitting on my desk for the past week)?

Maybe try Google Fi or Verizon. I’m sorry I don’t know any options other than trying Best Buy in person. I checked B&H photo and they only show “Coming Soon.”

What mail client are you using? I had one on mh Pixel 3 XL but I deleted it when I put my 3XL and Pixel 2 in storage. I’m using Samsung mail and ICloud.

I think by “Googly” or “Pixelly” we just mean the aesthetic. At least that’s what I mean. Most of the previous Pixels had black side rails or had a quirky color color combo. The side rails on the 6 Pro look more like those on a Samsung Galaxy S series phone. Lol we just are not used to such elegance!

Which ones you use the most? I have a couple earbuds.. but I try to keep them paired to specific devices that way I don’t have to go to bluetooth to pair/unpair.

I logged into the store and it appears that the regular 6 is available during Launch week still. I didn't check Pro, but also not sure which model you are after.

Dual wielding has always been fun for me and on two occasions saved my butt in medical emergencies taking care of my mother-in-law and once for myself. I wish you much fun with two awesome phones.

Airpods 2 I always have one in one ear... And Buds Live in the other during work hours... I get calls on both phones plus my Airpods switch between iPhone and Mac...

Gym time Beats if no cardio... Bud2 if cardio and workout..

Beats if travel... With a spare in bag...
