You sure about that? Google better privacy than apple, yeah right. 🤦‍♂️😂

Google has been doing what apple plans to start doing for years now. 🤦‍♂️

No one says anything when google has been doing ti for years, but once the tech juggernaut does it, people lose their minds.

The pot calling the kettle black
But when has Google ever promoted privacy as much as Apple?
Again with the: "There are school shootings in the US, so the knife stabbings in China are fine" logic.
You probably remember that I was choosing between Android and iOS for about a half a year and we had fights and both of us got banned, but the sole reason I chose Apple was the privacy they promoted so heavily. Personally I feel betrayed by Apple and as you can see so do many other people.

Google and other companies have been doing what apple plans to start doing for years now, even adobe does it.

When it comes to privacy google is nowhere near as proactive as apple, not like apple went behind everyone’s back and switched this feature on, people know it’s happening, if they don’t like it, they can leave, privacy isn’t going to be better with android, if anything, it’ll be a lot worse.

But they didn't make such a big deal out of privacy. There's no excuse what Apple is doing at the moment and you obviously don't know what Android is. Android is more secure and open source and you can disable all spying if you want to. There are many alternatives to custom Android ROM. GrapheneOS is the first one that comes to mind.

We’re just going to keep going back and forward, let’s just agree to disagree and not derail the thread lol.

Whatever we may all think about the different approaches to privacy, we can all agree that the Pixel 6 has the potential to be a big one for Google.

As long as the build quality is good. Separating screens, swelling batteries, and random bricks aren’t going to do much for repeat business for all but the most diehard Pixel fans.

Would you mind sharing your source/s of info on this? @Jason2000 made the same claim earlier in this thread, I asked him for his sources too but so far he hasn’t answered.

PhotoDNA is primarily used in the identification of child pornography (also known as child sexual abuse material or CSAM), and works by computing a unique hash that represents a given image. This hash is computed such that it is resistant to alterations in the image, including resizing and minor color alterations.[2] It works by converting the image to black and white, resizing it, breaking it into a grid, and then looking at each cell's intensity gradients or edges.[3]

It is used on Microsoft's own services including Bing and OneDrive,[4] as well as by Google's Gmail, Twitter,[5] Facebook,[6] Adobe Systems,[7] Reddit,[8] Discord[9] and the NCMEC,[10] to whom Microsoft donated the technology.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! I wonder how this compares to what Apple is planning to use or if they’ll even be using the same system in some form.

The hashes come from NCMEC so that part is similar. The way that Apple detects the images and how they handle reporting is different but the end result is the same - reports to law enforcement after a certain threshold and human follow up.

Just not digging the huge size and curved edge display. This looks like a Galaxy Ultra or OnePlus Pro phone.

I've always liked the more flat edge screen and smaller size like the Pixel 4 XL or the very compact and symetrical Pixel 5, with the rounded corners and comfortable design.

To me this is not a Nexus / Pixel phone but more like a Samsung;

I get what you're saying, but personally, I would welcome Pixels hardware looking more like a Samsung. Samsung makes, by far, the best hardware in the Android world.

However, as far as looks go I think my favorite phone along with the matte black S21 Ultra is the white Pixel 4 XL. The white with the matte black sides and orange power button was perfect.

I still own my Pixel 4 XL and it's the panda version white black too. Love the design of this phone except the large forehead bezel, besides that's it's beautiful.

And I don't want my Pixel phone to look like a Scamsuck phone. Ugh, no thanks.

Is that just because of aesthetics? Tell me you dont actually believe Google make better hardware than Samsung?

This looks like a step backward to the curves Samsung were using before they made them smaller for this year’s phones. I always hated them and now they feel dated too. Calling it now: this phone will not be the step forward for Google phones we are hoping for. Count me out.

They don't seem to want people in the Nordics to buy their phones anyway. I have no idea what idiot makes their marketing and distribution decisions. Even if they cannot entice any of the three major carriers to offer the phones, they should at least sell them on the Google online store.

Yeah they still seem uninterested in making a wholehearted push for their mobile division. Maybe they consider the Scandinavian market too tricky or expensive to break into so far.

In any case their design IMO is haphazard, dated and lacking coherent vision. They were on the right track with Pixel 2 and 3, but what the heck happened after that?

Sad for the Pixel brand. I’m certain that with the right determination they could become serious contenders to the big players and I’d love to own a super no-nonsense yet sharp looking and Google super powered phone.

Good point the Pixel 6 Pro screen looks like the old Samsung Galaxy phones with the extreme curved edge displays, which to me is the worst design.

And word that the Google processor is designed and built by Samsung and leaked benchmarks put it on par with last year’s Samsung processor not the 2021 CPUs.

I don't mean to knock the Pixel 6 line before it's out, I truly hope it's bad ass and a great smartphone, and actually sells in numbers to keep it going next year and beyond. I guess I just have to wait and see.

I’m a diehard Nexus / Pixel fan, but my God google get your act together already and design a beautiful phone with good specs and just do it why are they all over the board every year on each release?

The only great Pixel phones in my mind are the Pixel 2 XL and the 4 XL, And for the price and minimalist clean design I will say the Pixel 5 is good too, it’s just too small for my tastes and the earpiece speaker sucked, but the concept of the Pixel 5 was really good.

All we want are good spec's, in a clean minimal simple design. I would say a mix of designs of the Pixel 4 + Pixel 5 would be great. The Pixel 4 with the clean smooth rear of the phone in white or the salmon color, with the slight rounded black curved edge, mix it with the all screen almost no bezel Pixel 5 and punch whole notch, and we're good.

Pixel 6 I'd want;

- SD888+
- 8GB RAM
- 5,000mAh battery
- 6.5" Display ( FLAT ) like the iPhone 12 line
- 120hz refresh rate
- Wireless charging
- IP68 rating
- Design it like a larger Pixel 5 keeping the minimal clean style, but with the build quality and materials of the Pixel 4
- Sell it for $899

Thank you! Been saying this for years too! lol. I would gladly buy one if they were available directly from Google.

yep...and you and others have pointed out how evil they were for doing it and how loose they were with our privacy.

Now that Apple is doing the same thing...all of a sudden it ok..... smh....

I don't like the curved-edge display either. Not sure what Android manufacturers' obsession with curved displays is all about. I'm glad it's a trend that Apple has ignored.

As you all knows I'm a big time Nexus / Pixel guy, and hate iOS. but my current phone is the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and mainly bought it to support the FLAT display and squared edge frame. This is how smartphones should be, no gimmicky curved edges, and I LOVE this flat screen, it's just great. But I'm still no fan of iOS, and can't wait to come back to stock Android, I'd never go Samsung, heck no.

But the curved edge on the Pixel 6 is scaring me away, I might actually go with the 6.4" Pixel 5a.

I guess some of you also prefer riding over squared off speed bumps. I hated the Logitech G305 mouse since the scroll wheel was squared off top so index finger transition from left button to scroll wheel was annoying and happily switched to more rounded Razer Viper Mini .
