Here is how to easily swap e-sims on an T-Mobile without talking to anyone. An introverts dream! It looks way more complicated than it is. It can be done in maybe 3-5 minutes, but T-Mobile warns in some instances it may take up to 2 hours.

Moving iPhone to Pixel:

1. Go here and you will pick the device you want to update.
2. It will ask which line you want to update.
3. It will ask if you want to update sim to new device or update sim in current device. Choose new Device.
4. It will ask for you IMEI. For Pixel 7, give the IMEI from sim slot 2 (E-sim)
5. It will ask for the EID. Go to settings, about phone, sim status (slot 2) for the EID (scroll down a bit)

After this you will just follow the instructions and probably hit confirm a few times. T-Mobile will text your iPhone and you reply with a "1" saying you approve the sim swap. If you do nothing in 10 minutes, it is approved anyways.

Now head back to your Pixel to activate the e-sim:

1. Make sure you're on a reliable Wi-Fi connection.
2. From your home screen, tap Settings > Network & Internet.
3. Next to SIMs, choose the plus symbol (+).
4. Tap Download a SIM instead > Next > T-Mobile.
5. Use your phone camera to scan the QR code below.
6. Tap Download to download your eSIM.
7. Once your eSIM finishes downloading, tap Settings > T-Mobile and turn on Use SIM.
8. Tap Switch to T-Mobile to connect to the T-Mobile network.

Moving Pixel to iPhone:

1. Go here and you will pick the device you want to update.
2. It will ask which line you want to update.
3. It will ask if you want to update sim to new device or update sim in current device. Choose new Device.
4. It will ask for you IMEI. For iPhone go to settings, general, about, and scroll down to find IMEI2 (2nd slot is e-sim).
5. It will ask for the EID. For iPhone go to settings, general, about, and scroll down to find the EID.

After this you will just follow the instructions and probably hit confirm a few times. T-Mobile will text your Pixel and you reply with a "1" saying you approve the sim swap. If you do nothing in 10 minutes, it is approved anyways.

Now head back to your iPhone to activate the e-sim:

1. Make sure you're on a reliable Wi-Fi connection.
2. Watch for a notification on your device that your T-Mobile cellular plan is ready to be installed.
3. Tap the notification to download your eSIM and connect to the T-Mobile network.

If you did not receive the notification after two minutes, follow these steps.

1. From your home screen, tap Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.
2. Select T-Mobile New Cellular Plan, then Continue to download your eSIM and connect to the T-Mobile network.
Problem is, if you do this, you risk having no cell for 2 hours. I tried this and I had no cellular on both phones.

Right now I just have a separate line with BlueBubbles running on Macbook Pro and T-Mo digits. Both phones work like they are the same number. Works well except I need to pay for an extra line!

But what you described it exactly how it SHOULD work....
Right and we found out that only 1 eSIM can be active per 1 phone and that a new eSIM needs to be generated per phone swap. Now imagine my quandary having to live thru a Hurricane with NO power and internet? I'm just communicating with the outside world on cellphone towers and using my cellphone as a flashlight. I was down to my last phone by the 6th day with no power and just barely at that.

WOW! That sure puts a lot of things in perspective! Glad you made it through!

Well pretty soon you likely won't have a choice unless you hang on to old devices.
I appreciate the simplicity of swapping a physical SIM but let’s be honest, it’s really only an inconvenience for tech nerds and tech reviewers, a very small percent of smartphone users. An eSim insures your up to date on carrier provisioning and software, etc, is more secure, and is one less point of ingress for water, debris.

Don’t know what the limits are for other phones, including the Pixels but iPhone can save 8 eSim profiles so if you travel and need to switch frequently, very easy to manage on device.

My concern like many is that the carriers will play funny games with activation and line transfers.

I've been running Nova on my Flip 4 and the P7P now and it's buttery smooth .. I recommend checking out the 8.0 which has nice integration with the latest Android ..

May give it a try. I don't want to change much just maybe bigger widgets and change the order without starting over

I have no problems with the idea of eSIM's. It's the way different carriers approach eSIM's that is the question. My carrier is Mint Mobile and I have been using them the last 4 years with stellar service. However I am only allowed 2 eSIM swaps within a 12 month period. After that it's $3 a whack. There are other carriers that might not have any restrictions but when i'm paying $15 month plus tax and getting 4GB of data which I can use all of it as a hotspot. It makes it tough to leave just for the added convenience of switching phones more than 2x per year.

Yeah you can definitely keep it simple and run close to stock with small upgrades ..widget overlapping and sizing is one plus ..hide status bar on main screen if you wish and scrolling dock and app drawer direction...I look forward to your thoughts

The cherry on top of the Pixel 7 cake for me is that the Pixel Buds Pro are phenomenal, and they only set me back $19.
Although I have a bunch of buds, I really want to try these. Hopefully they come down a little bit for Black Friday. Maybe I can scoop up a pair. I have the series a and they just okay..

Just ordered this case;

I wonder how that microfibre surface will hold up as far as attracting everyday grime though?

I am desperate for a case for my 7 Pro.
I'm thinking of going for the Bellroy leather. They look so good.

In other news, my woven watch strap that was dispatched via the Fitbit store on Saturday... Is nowhere to be seen. No idea where it is but I haven't heard anything since and no delivery has been attempted!

I should be getting my Bellroy leather case tomorrow (Bluestone color), so I'll report back on it. I hate carrying this thing caseless. The glass on these is some of the slickest glass I've ever held.

Plus to add that just becuase you have downloaded the eSim on your phone...does not mean you can re-use it.
So far for my 3 swaps between my iphone and Pixel 7P it has made me go through the whole new esim process.
Granted this is on Verizon so other carriers might be different.

That is the whole problem with eSims...every carrier will do it differently. Then the time between activations might be 5 minutes or 2 hours. Maybe the biggest top 3 carriers might not charge for esim swaps...but what about resllers?
They no doubt will charge or not even have a process in place at yet.
