"It’s been proven over and over that iOS requires less ram to get the same performance to their android counterparts."

I think we are reading you quite well. This discussion had nothing to do with software until you moved the goalpost. You said that Google skimps on RAM. I said Apple does the same. Then you said but Apple's software works wonders with less RAM. I then said, my experience has been the opposite and I find that Android does a better job with less RAM.

I think you need to re-read your own comments.

You realize ram is hardware right? And iOS has always been better at ram management than android. I thought this was just a known thing.

And before it gets said, this isn’t me ******** on android. This is just one thing iOS does better. They both have pros and cons. Feels weird I have to say this.

Android uses java which is the main choke point. Google uses Google run time which is an improvement to Java but ultimately is still Java. So Android generally needs more ram than iOS which uses a new platform which is much more efficient.

That being said the amount of ram in most high end Android devices is 6-12gb which is more than enough.

So ram management on a Flagship phone is pretty much a mute point being on Android or iOS because both have more than enough ram to work quickly and have multiple apps running in the background.

Pure hyperbole. I never said the Pixel 7 was crap. I think it’s a great phone especially at the price point. But go ahead and keep making things up I didn’t say.

You’re fine. Nothing you said has been out of line. It’s just discussion which is what these forums are for. I don’t have a problem with what anyone here as posted even if I don’t agree.

A couple of guys that chimed in recently just want an echo chamber telling them whatever phone they chose is the best. One guy is literally a member of 300 phone forums (it’s all he does) and whatever phone he uses is always best. The other one that has been on my ignore list forever because he just wants to fight with someone. His post history is full of him arguing with people and I don’t have time for that.

As for Pixels and why I’m here, I’m a frequent Pixel owner, I love what they do. I just wish their hardware would improve some, that was my whole point.
I think the hardware is nice. I don't need to have iPhone type quality and imo the P7 is nice hardware. What's not to like?

I don't want to spend 1k on a phone and if you want this and that added, that's what it will cost. All mine get a case anyways so hec the 4a and 6a are fine with me.

I disagree that 6gb of ram on an android phone is enough, but I agree with everything else.

My reasoning for not ignoring, but forgiving Apple for using minimal amounts of ram is because the end user doesn’t notice it. Same reason you don’t see me mentioning the tensor chip as being a downside to using a Pixel even though it’s underpowered compared to bionic or snapdragon chips. Because the end user doesn’t feel the difference for the most part.

Again I never said the Pixel 7 hardware was bad. Geez guys. I said I personally feel like Google cuts corners on hardware in places. That doesn’t mean I think they’re crap. You guys don’t feel the same way and that’s fine. It’s not a personal attack on anyone and I would still buy a Pixel phone. Hell, I’ve owned every single Pixel phone at some point other than the Pixel 2. I love them.

I didn't think you said they were crap.
I just don't care if they cut corners if it keeps the price down. I DO like that it has wireless charging now though. That's all that was missing from the 4a for me. When the 7a gets it that will be a great mid range phone imo.

Normally by now I would have sold my pixel and just stuck with my iPhone but here I'am still loving having all 3 and got to say I regretted selling my pixel 6 pro so glad I've not made the same mistake as year.

I think pixels will be in my rotation going forward
Same here. There's always usually something that pulls me back to the iPhone, but right now my 14 Pro Max isn't getting used at all. 7 Pro is still my daily personal driver and the ZF4 is on my business line.

Updates?

I find it interesting that Android phones get an update every month for security while iPhones don't.

I think one of the main benefits of a Pixel phone is security since there are no 3rd party apps installed.

Since AOSP is open source there are a lot of security researcher's scanning it for vulnerabilities. Since iOS is proprietary it doesn't get that level of scrutiny. Apple is generally very good at updating security flaws once they are found but I wonder since they don't get updates as often are they as secure as everyone thinks?

Waiting for the January security update which should happen soon. Right now since I have the Pixel 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy s22 plus I am going to see which gets updates faster and how wide that gap is.

Samsung has tended to release the update, in some instances anyway, on the 1st or the 5th of the month (the date the patch is actually labeled as). Google releases on the first Monday of the month (or Tuesday in this case since Monday was a holiday) so if Tuesday is the 1st of the month it's possible Samsung could beat Google to the release as Google won't release until the 7th.

FWIW - my Pixel 7 hasn't been flagged to get the update yet, a check indicates no update available.
