Has anyone had issues with battery drain on their Pixel 7? Partner upgraded her 4a to a 7 on my recommendation, but battery life on 4g is abysmal to say the least. High signal area, no actual usage, and it drained 12% over 4 hours just sitting doing nothing. No rogue apps or anything, and all battery stats says is "mobile network" responsible for most of the drain.

My Pixel 5 on the other hand, same conditions and network, same area, shows mobile network as draining very little with screen time correctly the biggest drain.

Tried the usual Reddit/Google rabbit hole to diagnose the issue, but it's kind of annoying. Is it purely down to Google using the crappy Exynos modem?

I have a Pixel 7 Pro and I have not had issues with errant battery drain.

I think that 3% an hour connected to 4g isn't terrible but I agree it could be better. What is the battery drain while active? Have you checked the battery monitor to make sure it is the modem and not something else?

I have found with most phones connected to cellular instead of WiFi that I get higher battery drain generally speaking. The first 5g modems on Qualcomm we're exceptionally battery hungry and ran hot.

The Samsung modem can drain the battery but it is not that bad. At least it seems to cover my network even in areas that are remote or with poor signal and that is the most important thing to me.

With all the hype around the s23 ultra I was thinking of getting one. I have an s22 plus and the screen bothers me. The ultra would have been a nice upgrade but I worked the numbers and no matter what it just didn't make sense.

Buying outright was close to $1k with my trade in.

All the carrier deals are decent but the monthly cost is so much higher than I am paying with Boost unlimited that in a year or two I could just buy an unlocked phone.

I got spoiled by the quad hd screen on my Pixel 7 Pro.

Overall I am very happy with the Pixel and there are some features I certainly prefer. Call screening is a Godsend! It is just sometimes it boggs down and battery could be a little better.

That being said for the cost of the phone I really can't complain. Still extremely happy with it. I think I will get the 8 Pro when it comes out. Hopefully trade in value will be better than Samsung like it was this year.

One thing I wish Google would work on is integration with Windows PC.

One thing that didn't change with T-Mobile and I noticed this morning ..no cell service going through the Brooklyn battery tunnel which is a no go for me ...I don't know why this has not been resolved smh

Is everyone on the new AA update ? I like the layout and now I can run maps on both screens ..

I'm just popping in to check out the Pixel side of life. Wow your dash looks so futuristic! I love how your phone is mounted up where you can see it so easily. Is this what automobiles look like on the inside now? 😯

I only just got a car with windows that go up and down when you push a button a couple of years ago, and it was already about 13 years old when I got it, so it's about 16 now.

My main car that I've driven most of my life came off the assembly line in 1992, and featured manual door locks and hand cranked windows. I literally skipped meals to save up for it. It's dry rotting badly enough to inflame my allergies and it's running kind of weak and needs a lot of work involving extinct parts, so I stopped doing the school run in it about 7 years ago and switched to a used truck for a couple of years, before my dad gave me the 16 year old econo box I drive now.

This current car from my dad is all analog. There's a CD player in it and one tiny digital clock, but that's about it! It does have electronic door locks, which is cool. My truck had a navigation screen but it's old and the UI is awful so I don't use it all. My husband's truck is one year newer so his display is slightly more clear and he has Car Play. But it sucks, too.

When I want to use navigation in either the truck or the economy car, I stick my phone in the cup holder.

Wow. I'm starting to wish I could drive a new car around, at least for a week. That's really beautiful...

Lol, looking at it, I feel like I stepped out of a time warp. I've been peripherally aware, of course, that new autos have fancy displays. And I just never paid any mind to it. But tonight I was really took notice for some reason. Like a moth I was drawn to all the little lights! 🤣

Anyone looking to grab one should check out Best Buy sales right now. Saw the Pro was down to $599 as long as you activate it with a carrier during purchase (it’s still unlocked). That’s an amazing price.

Haha ..I do love driving the car at night..screen pops for sure and small tweaks can change the light colors ...I do have some great memories of my older cars like a 1983 Buick Riviera I owned but that one has power everything back then .. but I had plenty of manual ones which I think are classic..I bought a magsafe ring for my clear case and now I can charge and use the Pixel magnetically with the air vent holder...it's not the fastest charging but does the job when I'm taking longer drives ...

Lol I can just picture going in to Best Buy and telling them I want to activate now and then dropping the bomb that I am on an e-sim switching from iPhone.

Oh that’s an air vent holder? I had one on the really old car. As iPhones got heavier it finally couldn’t hold them up anymore and one day just gave up where it connects to the vent. 😆

I genuinely enjoy owning and driving old beat up cars. But that photo…not gonna lie, got me admiring! And that’s just from looking at the dash!

Not working online now for several hours. Not letting it go into a cart.

Been impatiently waiting on this update. Are you on the beta program for AA?

Same. From what I understand is the updated "coolwalk" interface is done on the server side and not through an app update and it is a staggered release. Guess I'll keep waiting lol
That makes a lot of sense. That's the Google way lol

Google directly has been emailing me with deals since Christmas. They're I think $150 off. Trade in values for phones I plugged in to their system weren't enough to tempt me even if I could use a 7 Pro, unfortunately.

$599 looks good.

Those of you who went from a 6 Pro to a 7 Pro, now that you've had it awhile, does it feel like a significant upgrade?

I was fortunate in that my particular 6 Pro is a very good specimen of its kind. The fingerprint sensor has always been responsive. Call quality was good. Camera was/is fantastic. I'm hoping at some point to try to get back to it. Maybe my nervous system has calmed down and adjusted to the 14 Pro Max display onslaught. The few months I got to use it before other things came up and knocked me off course, I really freaking liked that phone. I'm glad I still have it and I am keeping it.

I was just curious how Google refined the experience above and beyond the 6 Pro.

I feel like your last sentence pretty much sums up the Pixel 7 Pro vs the 6 Pro. It's a definite refinement of its predecessor. Everything just seems to run smoother, probably due to the 2nd gen Tensor vs the 1st gen. The modem seems to be improved although not on the level of the Qualcomm modems in other devices. Battery life in my experience seems to be quite a bit better. The camera is improved, albeit this is really splitting hairs as the P6P camera was great itself. While I didn't have issues with the fingerprint sensor in the P6P, the one on the P7P is near 100% accurate for me. So, it feels like a great upgrade to me but I'm not sure if I'd tell a casual phone user who is not an enthusiast like those of us in here to go out and upgrade. However, at that price point it just might be worth it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on that. I was just curious about how Google is progressing their lineup.

I had some questions because they were so inconsistent in the early years. Like introducing Soli, leaving us to think Soli would be part of the progression, then releasing a main phone that was really mid range, though that decision was understandable due to the pandemic.

Pixel 6 Pro seemed their first real step on a real path. And I’m glad to see at least with the Pixel 7 Pro, they’ve produced the kind of upgrade one would expect if they’re serious about this endeavor.

Unfortunately I already know my migraine condition isn’t compatible with the 7 Pro Display but I do want to keep up with Pixels. I’ll probably try again with the 8 or 8 Pro.

My Pixel 7 Pro has been really good so far. The scrolling issue is the only thing that bugs me and hopefully the update next month will fix it as Google has acknowledged it. Sometimes on some sites it just doesn't want to scroll. You swipe and it just moves a little bit.

Since you had no problems with the 6 Pro and the screen doesn't bother you like it does the 7 Pro I don't think you are missing much. From what I have read the only difference is the outer design and Tensor G2 and modem.

Coming from an iPhone 13 Pro Max I was worried about a lot of the complaints people made about the Pixel but so far it has been a pretty nice change. I am still not a fan of the curved displays but the screen is really nice. On my 7 Pro the color temperature is just about perfect. On my iphone it was too yellow and on my s22 plus it has a slight green color.
