What would you do if you were Huawei's president?
Not sure......I don't have all the inside information he does for sure. I am sure they had contingent Plan B (C and D and E) meetings for just this type of scenario. They will still do well in their biggest home market China. Google services are blocked there by the Chinese government anyway.

I think Samsung went through something similar a few years ago. They had a rift with Google and touted their own Tizen OS and tried to get app developers on board to port apps over to it. They found the dev community to be very slow and unwilling to make the effort to change all of their apps for one company.

In China? Not hard. But Google owns the rest of the world, really. Good luck selling a completely Chinese built operating system without any Facebook owned properties or Google Play services applications anywhere in the world but China.

Disagree. Protectionism is going after Samsung for no reason. Huawei is a bit player in North America.

Also, the ban in the US is mostly due to Huawei's 5G hardware, not handsets. Handsets are just an unfortunate side effect.
Google cutting Huawei adrift affects Huwaei's participation in the entire western world.

It also severely limits Google's ability to track Huawei devices if they can't use Google.

They wouldn't solidify themselves in the western world at the cost of China. That's bad business.

Had to laugh at the outrageous headline.

Manufacturers like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Motorola, LG aren't on the list. Their products are using SD cards just fine.
if you don't think the article is accurate....you should take that up with the author on 9to5Google o_O

Sorry, didn't mean to direct the comment to you. I realize the headline is from 9to5. They took the article from Android Authority and spun their own misleading headline.

This is the most comprehensive article on trade theft...stealing IP and stealing company secrets i have seen to date.
A company culture of stealing from other companies and releasing products that were almost the same.
A culture around having relatives and employees going to work for rivals for the sole purpose of stealing company secrets.

didn't that go to court? what was the outcome?
Did you read the whole article? Huawei sending people to work at Cisco so they could steal their IP?
They even copied Cisco manuals right down to the typos. They even copied the Cisco router software right down to the software bugs.....

It's amazing how all of thee behemoth's are so reliant on Google, especially when (imo) their OS isn't that great anyway. It would be much better if every company had their own app store, and much like with podcasts, every dev could easily upload their app to every major platform. One company running the show was always asking for trouble.

In British court Apple could not win fight Samsung. Ruling end up Apple has to end ad with caption mentioning Samsung never copied their pattern.
