They are very majestic creatures. Gentle Giants. We had a Maine Coon he lived 15 long wonderful years. His name was Aslan. He was always there when you needed love. When my father was dying and stayed with us until he had to go to hospice care Aslan spent every minute with my dad. My dad hated cats. He came to love "hHs kitty." He knew when my dad passed. He cried out for hours afterwards. Then spent 2 days on my dads bed. My Aslan on my dads bed....

I had a Maine Coon for about a year that wandered into my neighbors yard and I took him in. Squeak was a great cat, lovable and playful. Loved to tease my other cat Bear, a Russian Blue. Unfortunately he developed crystals in his urine and after two trips to the vets and $3600 later I had to put him to sleep. Years before we had another Maine Coon, named Gus. He was one of the few cats we had that died of old age.
