Hehe, the normal reaction (so far) is fear, not thinking about squishing it! It's about 20 cm long, venomous and very fast. I think it's awesome!

I'm still trying to find a name that fits, any suggestions?

I finished the terrarium (for now), here are two more pics:

so how dangerous is the venom? i see the poster above knows someone that got stung and it gives a high fever to humans. whats the biggest animal the venom is lethal to?

how bout Armadillo for a name? the shell on the centipede reminds me of an Armadillo's shell and then you could name him ArmaDillon or just Dillon? pretty good huh? im already taking credit for the name HAHA

I know a guy who got bitten in the testicles by a centipede who had sneaked in his bed... Make sure it doesn't happen to you.

This was my 150lbs great dane. He passed away 6 months ago with 11 years old. I cried my eyes off and I miss him a lot. I think I will never have a dog again...

LouB, your cat has such an amazing color... think you could post an image of his/her full body?

My Labrador Oscar.
The puppy fuzz is irresistibly cute. But goodness, the shine and gloss of his coat at 3YO is amazing! What do you feed him?! :D Do you use super fancy shampoo/ conditioner?

Hector, looking windswept today in Richmond Park:
Aww, too cute!

Excuse the quality (taken on Iphone). He is an Abyssinian if you're interested to know.
Absolutely gorgeous. Really reminds me of a mini version of a wild (big) cat. Like a puma or something. Just stunning. And thanks for the pic. :)

This is a group photo I was trying to do for my wife.
That is hilarious! Did you frame that photo?! :D

High fever is just one of the possible symptoms. The bite is nasty and can cause swelling, as well as nausea, vomiting and loss of consciousness if your allergic.

whats the biggest animal the venom is lethal to?

That depends largely on the size of the victim and the amount of injected venom. The LD50 can be as low as 1.5 mg of venom for every Kg of victim's weight. I don't know exactly how much venom is stored in the venom glands in each maxilliped, but I've seen these critters eat a mouse, and I saw one on TV eat a bat.

Really? Well, I live in the tropics, and there are far worse things to fear out here ;)

Thank you :D

He only has a bath once or twice a year. Turns out bathing Labs can ruin their coats. We just keep him very fit (at least a 50 minute walk, off the lead, every day) and feed him good quality food (Pedigree Chum with pasta and vegetables in it)
