New passport. For work though, sadly not holidays. :(

Back when I travelled abroad, I didn't need a passport. I just came and went as I pleased across borders. :D

Now that I am not in US Marines anymore, I'd need to get one of those little book thingy's!

Little book or M16. Whichever works for you! :D

It was great back then, also pre-9/11. We didn't even go through Customs most of the time. :D I have some stories from traveling between Australia and Japan, but I can't really share them here.

For all the bad press you hear, I was suprised how easy and quick the process was. Yes it wasn't in peak season, but only took 2 weeks, start to finish (it's on its way).

Go on. In sure there must be one or two?

Let's just say that when Customs's is run by your own people, at 3am, you don't have much to worry about.

Wow, that's some serious looking kit. You know it's expensive when you keep refreshing the UPS tracking!
Looking forward to seeing some of your handy work.

That looks really fancy and high-tech! I bet you will get some great shots with it.

Ahh okay. So what does that do?

It'a a 4-channel digital recorder with the capacity to throw the audio directly in the camera audio-in. It's audio quality is a-ok and has a very nifty feature of recording a separate track a few dB downward as a roll back in case your audio peaks and distorts. (among others)

My next purchase is a rode ntg2 as the mic I have is pretty low quality wise. There is no reason to have a quality audio recorder with a cr***y mic. makes no sense

So you'll obviously use it with video recording then. I was slightly wondering because the picture above showed a regular camera and I was confused why a still picture would need audio. :p

well, your deductive reasoning was not that far off, but the depicted dslr, the Canon 5D mark III is widely used for video capture. even aspiring cinematographers do so as well as it is a camera that performs quite well in low light conditions. Should you feel adventurous, you can even record RAW video by flashing a copy of Magic Lantern on a SD card for your canon DSLR. One major setback of dslr video though is the jelly effect when moving on the horizontal axis. there are some fixes in post, but still, it can't compare to a Canon C300 videocam output quality.

Interesting. I started to get into photography a long time ago while I was in the Marines and bought a really nice 35mm Canon with some nice lens's and filters. I took some nice pic's back then, but once I left the Service, I never kept up with it.

I do have this really nice shot of a sunrise over Okinawa, Japan that I also had blown up and put into a picture frame.
