Didn't take long.
Not too bad.

At 3.0MB per second that would be 24Mbps.

Calculating the DL speed, I get a bit higher at around 26Mbps.

What is your line advertised speed?

BTW, here in Japan, many times with ADSL you get a third to a quarter of advertised speed. So for a 50Mbps line you might see around 10-15Mbps of actual speed.

Are you guys sure you want to see my connection speed?

Are you sure?

And thats over 802.11a.

Dude, how the HELL do you get that kind of speed in THUNDER BAY??? I'm in rural southwestern Ontario and I'd give my left nut for a 128K DSL line!!!

Ok, I cheated alittle, it's at Confederation College, but since I was there for most of my day for the last 2.5 years, it still counts. ;)

Okay, so let's do a real test.

How long does it take you to DL System 9.2.1 update (82MB) from the Apple web site?

Well, my boss wanted to see if Vista would run on their machines (I work at the computer help desk as a student), so I got the Public Beta, about 4GB I think:confused: , is less then 20 minutes, no word or a lie.

Download Speed: 3013 kbps (376.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 277 kbps (34.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

I have a rather funny ADSL subscription. I've had it for ages, and I think it started out at the, then, rather nice 640/128. Over the years the price has stayed the same, but the speed has increased steadily, and I now should get 4200/600.

And it seems my provider, NextGenTel, one of the most yelled at companies in Norway, mostly undeserved IMO, delivers what it should:

Saw this thread get ressurrected while I'm at work, so I thought I'd give it another go.

I have no idea what kind of connection we have, but we work in an IT center so I imagine its something big.

If the Vista Public Beta is 4GB, that puts you around 26Mbps. Pretty good!

The fastest that I've ever used was FTTH at close to 100Mbps. Cost my friend about $45 per month. :)

No advertised speed. In my dorm, university connection.

I've been on cable with Rogers since 1998 when I had one of the those huge Terayon cable modems. I now have the Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Express cable Internet service with download speeds up to 5 Mbps and upload up to 384 Kbps. Rogers has one higher level of service called Extreme which offers up to 6 Mbps down and 800 Kbps up. I have a Toshiba cable modem right now.

I don' think this is too bad considering supermarket broadband...
This is for London:

But I got better results for Derby...
