The speedtest measures in kilobits and safari (and pretty much every web browser) measures in kilobytes. 8 bits in a byte. So to convert Safari's speed into kilobits, multiply it by 8 which is 760 kilobits/sec. Still not 1300, but a lot of factors can come into play...network traffic, the speed of the server you're downloading from, etc. There's nothing to worry about though.

It does seem misleading sometimes, since ISPs also use kilobits (or megabits) to sell their stuff (I have a 5 meg line, but of course my stuff downloads at a maximum of around 600 KB/sec). Just like hard drive manufacturers using 1,000 bytes in a kilobyte and computers using 1,024 bytes in a kilobyte.

Anyways, my 5 meg line from Charter.

I'm happy with mine considering I live in the UK and all the phone lines are copper.

Btw, yesterday during the test I was downloading West Side Story, too. (1.71GB)

Speed is about correct, but my provider is in the middle of a merger with another isp.

Download Speed: 5068 kbps (633.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 442 kbps (55.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

$30 CAD a month for "5mb". I could pay $40 CAD a month for "10Mb" but i doubt i will see a huge gain, but it might be worth a try.

NTL 10 Meg. I really hope I can somehow convince them to install it in my flat down in Brighton. Cable really is sooooo much better than ADSL.

I think I'm going too fast for the system. Reach 100& upload before the meters catch up and doesnt register its finished so took a screen cap.
:D :D :D
How dya like them apples!
