Hey guys,
just wondering if my MB pros right fan is broken, since I downloaded Fan Control and it reads -1 (as seen in pic) yet the left is about 2500rpm. Why's that? My current CPU on istat is 140'ish.

EDIT: I've heard that the reading suggests I don't have a right fan, but as this is MB pro shouldn't I have two? I did get the cheapest version of the model, the 13" one if that makes any difference.

smcFanControl Default Settings - No Changes

Black MacBook 2.0Ghz 2GB Ram 120GB Hard Drive
126 F when sitting on desk
140 F when sitting on my lap
1795-1804 RPM
Always seems hot when sitting in my lap. The fan is very loud at times and silent at other times.

White MacBook 2.4Ghz 4GB Ram 160GB Hard Drive
93 F when sitting on desk
97 F when sitting on my lap
1795-1807 RPM
Never gets hot, even when sitting on my lap, it gets slightly warm at best, always cool to the touch and I never hear the fan.

Does my black Mac need a new fan? It seems within normal range but always feels hot on the bottom...

the black mac is a Core Duo? they are quite hot, and have singular fans (the white MB still has a singular fan also) - my friends black MB gets very hot too. same with my Core Duo MBP. its just the CPU :(

Both are core 2 duo but I think I figured something out. I just replaced the topcase and screen bezel to change the inside color of my black MB to white and when I had the case open I blew out the fan and any excess dust and now it is running much cooler. I blew it out before to clean it while assembled but it must not have helped until I actually opened the case. The temp is now staying more consistent at around 108 F even when on my lap and the fan is super quite now. I think it was choking before so let your friend know, hopefully this will help them out. Thanks for the reply.

Just took a screen cap of mine. The CPU was usually around 49, but now its up to 57. Is this a normal temp???? Maybe the fact that I switched my HDD to a SSD cause my Macbook Pro to get a little warmer????
