Just browsing Safari my 2007 Macbook runs around 150-180 F, with fan speeds at 6200 RPM, this seems a bit abnormal...

Is there anything I can do to change this?

I would try, in order of difficulty:

- reinstall
- blow dust out of it
- put new thermal compound on CPU

I have running: Safari, iCal, Mail, and iTunes.

iMac 24" C2D 3.06GHz, 4GB 800MHz DDR2, 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Temps are in Farenheit.

It's funny how a little dust will make temps skyrocket. I had my screen replaced less than two months ago and I know for a fact my A+ technician cleaned the fan and heat sink. I just installed my new ram last eve and was amazed at the amount of crud that had collected in a short time. My temps while surfing where 51c. After cleaning I am now at 36c....holy crap thats a ton.

No 129C is not normal. I think the intel chip is supposed to shut off at 120C and that is VERY hot....

Maybe the sensor isnt working properly on your imac

Well, it actually does run at that temperature when doing nothing.... if the app i dowloaded to measure it is ok (its MagicanPaster).

Interestingly, on my new Mid-2011 "13 i5 MacBook Air I have managed to exceed temperatures of 100*C (212*F). I rung AppleCare, they said it may or may not be normal. What do you guys think?

Depends on what you were doing with it. These chips are capable of handling some (relatively) hot temperatures.

I had three games open at once just to see how high it would go for the AppleCare rep... Anyway, normally it will stay at around 35-70*C.

Unless you're trying to kill your computer, don't run 3 games at once.
