it would be nice if it looked as if it was intended to be used with osx (the icon).
I love the Mybook one, got it in blue? I have the larger drive and it's blue!
I just got a MyBook and had to make the right icon for it. I started making just the Premium Edition icons, then decided to do the whole line.
BTW: The icon pictures are from the WD MyBook site, so I didn't technically 'create' the icons.
Has anyone got, or point me in the right direction to, an iMac G5/Intel-type icon I can use for my hard-drive?

Will these do? iMac G5 and iMac G5 Intel
In this set there is an iMac logo. Also, in the "Chums" pack, there is a view of the back.
EDIT: Damn. Beaten
How do I change my HD icon?
Is this clear??
I use Icon Composer, which is a part of Apple's Developer Tools. Just dragging in whatever images I want to make icns files of and let Icon Composer scale them. It even handles psd files just fine.
Here's an example where I drag in a png file, 128 x 128 went fine, but when I drag it into the 48 x 48 version, it needs scaling:

And it also makes a mask:
View attachment 60883
When all the fields (that I want) is filled I can just save it as a new icns file.
Great, thanks!
Another question (sorry!), how would I change it back to the original?

Does anyone know how to change the Finder icon and the System Preferences icon? The above method doesn't work... Thanx!
Sorry, but I don't know any way to do this with a hack, nor have I found any small 3rd party haxies that can do it...Is there a way to change color of itunes icon like change picture in system pref. like every 5 mins or so while in-use ?
Don't know about System Preferences, but changing the Finder icon is fairly easy, just navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/ and find and replace the file finder.png with another transparent 128 x 128 png file. (Remember to backup the Dock.app first.)wizwaz3 said:Does anyone know how to change the Finder icon and the System Preferences icon? The above method doesn't work... Thanx!
If you want special dvd covers to match the movies, then I guess you're best option is to just replace them by hand (instructions earlier in this thread), but if you have one generic video cover icon that you want for all movie files assosiated with QuickTime, you need to replace (at least) the /Applications/Quick Time Player.app/Contents/resources/r129.icns (movie), r138.icns (avi), r174.icns (mpeg4), r179 (3gpp), etc. just look for all the file types you need to change. And, please, backup the Quick Time Player.app before you start. Is it possible to change the icon of a quicktime file? I want to put an dvd cover for all my movies. Is that possible?
