Smogsy, is that your house, not an apt?

Because so much glaring non-hidden wiring in that room is just a crime against all that's holy! :D

Maybe spend a few dimes to put the wiring behind the wall, or hire a pro to do it? At the very least a some cable tracks, and thinner cables.

Haha, visible wiring is just a real pet peeve of mine.

Also another nitpick, but I'd seriously consider losing that large picture frame and mounting the TV up there (properly)- the two things fight each other for dominance.

You should buy another basket and put it upside down on top, or cut off the sides to make it fit, but I think the first option would be easier :)
Well the basket PC was pretty much just a joke to entertain my wife with before I put it in a real case. (Plus she wanted her basket back!) But it actually worked pretty well. I had to stand on a step ladder to take the above shot on top of the fridge- it was impossible to see over the top of the basket from normal human-height, so no top was really needed.

Did you take any wires out of the Power Supply?

I helped my cousin build his i7 rig, two weeks ago, and he got a Corsair 750watt Powersupply. All the wires coming out looked like it could power an airplane!
It took two hard drive bays to keep the wires (The ones that weren't plugged into anything!). All he had was a BluRay drive, a DVD drive, 1 Graphics card (PCIe), and one hard drive.
He had a Antec 900 I think the case was.

130W for CPU, 200-300W for GPU, 50W for BR Drive.. eh they just want more money i guess..

Motherboard, Hard drive, other DVD drive, expansion later on, fans?

130+250+100 (DVD drives)= 480. Add in hard drives, motherboard, and fans, that's gotta be more than 550.

Heck, my Core2Duo that takes 60W power for the processor needs more power than 500w. All I have in there is two hard drives, One PCIe GPU, two DVD drives, and 3 fans (one case fan, one rear fan, and one CPU fan). Oh and a wireless card.

yea maybe... for expansion its a good point, but the DVD drives consume hardly anything, its only on startup and while burning do they use heaps of power. the GPU is idling at what, maybe 100W? 150W? CPU is the same.. motherboard? 5W? lol

i have a 500W PSU on my C2D, its OC'd and everything. 2 DVD drives, 3 HDDs, GPU, firewire card etc. it works fine and only consumes around 300W under load. so i donno...

… It is indeed the Noctua NH-U12P. I used Antec Silver 5 in place of the included paste. The included stuff may have been fine but I trust the Antec Silver. Also, I only have one of the two fans installed and it cools just fine. Installation was a bit confusing and the directions could definitely have been better but overall it wasn't too bad. …

thanks! im researching a new build and was originally going to buy a Zalman 9700 but found out the Noctua-U12 is a lot quiter ata similar price and almost on par with the Thermalright! im just going to use the included Noctua paste its not as good as Silver 5 but its included.

Happy to help :) I have been very happy with the Noctua. Even with only the one fan installed it keep the CPU nice and cool. Between the other 6 fans in the case (with the top one being a 200mm beast) the internal case temp has never gone above 30 Celsius.

Well, I didn't build my rig myself, but I got it cheaper than if I had.

I'm on vacation, or I'd include pics.

Cooler Master HAF 922, with at least 8 fans (all 60 CFM and up)
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R
Intel Core i7 920 D0 2.66 Ghz, overclocked to 4.0 Ghz.
MSI GTX 260, factory overclocked
6GB Patriot DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
Corsair 750W PSU
WD 640GB 7200RPM HDD
BENQ G2400WD 24" 1920x1200 monitor
Logitech G5 mouse/keyboard
Win7 RC1

Unfortunately not. ;) Idle temps are 45C, and load is 70C, though of course some apps can really stress it. I actually though I was only gonna get a C0, which does not overclock as well, and was shocked when I downloaded CPUZ and realized I had a D0. Overclocking was a cinch, even for a wanna-be geek like me, and I'm sure I could go much higher.

Real happy with my rig though, and Windows 7 as well. I even find myself using Boot Camp (with the Win7 RC) on my Macbook a lot more these days. Got the full version of Win7 pre-ordered.

My rig is really a fix for the fact that my first machine I bought was a Macbook, since all I ever knew was Macs. However, I really got my Mac to play games, and good luck with that on a GMA 950. :( Now I use my Macbook for work and my PC for games. Kinda nice to be able to play anything I own on "very high" (I don't play many FPS's, though).
