Little Dot U+ for amping. Sennheiser HD598 for jazz and live music. D2000 for rock and pop. I'm resisting the temptation to go higher, but my setup sounds awesome where even wife who hated me for spending this much money on headphones were impressed.

After losing my MDR-EX90LP (modded) I eventually broke down and got some DREX300iP earbuds. Again, I modified, and again, I'm very pleased with the sound quality. (and isolation) Having control buttons and a mic are just icing on the cake for me.

Bloated and muddy bass with nothing else in its sound signature, stylish but plasticy build quality that breaks easily. That's about all you get.

I have a question for you guys:

What do you do when the cable breaks? I notice a lot of the headphones do not have cables that look easily replaceable. Knowing how easy it is to wear out and/or break a cable, I don't think I'd ever spend north of $100 on something where they weren't O_O

Yeah pretty much the only Beats you can get that sound good are the Beats Studio, but then you're shelling out $300.

Go get yourself some princess leia hairbun sony xb700/100's if you want bass.

Ultrasones have punchy bass too, but they don't extend deep, more along the line of beats solo/studio bass (which has lots of punch from huge midbass spike, but no low extension whatsoever)

What are some good over the ear headphones for listening to hiphop around $100 - $150?

Without any sound leakage.

I was looking at the Skullcandy aviators and Able Planet NC300B. Any opinions on those?

Skullcandy is a BIG NO-NO if you're gonna spend $100+. I'm assuming the other brand is similar. Get HFI-580/DJ1.

I'm thinking about the Audio Technica ATH M50, any good similar ones with mic control?

Just received my Klipsch X10i's and straight out of the box they're impressing. Bought them to replace a set of Sleak Audio SA1's which I love, but after a year of waiting for the iPhone cable from them (which they said was "coming soon" when I bought them, and then in emails since... and still nothing) I decided to trade up. And no regrets on that score! I'll worry about the cable as the replaceable cable with the SA1's was a major plus, but otherwise I'm very happy with the new purchase. Such great sound from something so small & light!

With the Bowers & Wilkins P5's for home/winter use (the all-leather ear pads are a bit much when it gets hot), a set of Sennheiser CX380 Sport II's for the gym and a JDS Labs cMoy BB should mean this headphone junky is all set.

I've been using the Atrio for quite some time now. My favorite daily earphones :) (until something else comes along)
