Really, ive hear some ppl say the straight has more durability . I cant decide which ones to get grrrr.

It really comes down to who takes the beating.

Before the current method of mounting the headphone jack floating from the primary circuit board - they were the most frequent points of failure. If you tugged too hard on the cord, you'd rip the connector off the board and/or damage the board. In that scenario, you'd likely be safer using an angled connector, as it limits the amount of leverage applied to the jack. Most consumer devices these days have "floating" jacks - so even if you twist them, or flex too hard - they do not experience / transmit mechanical damage.

But, when inserting / removing the plug - angled plugs tend to fail more often because people don't always grasp the base - but instead tug on the cord.

In short - If the device it in your pocket, an angled plug usually is safer than a straight. But there a lot more variables at play form how you treat things, and the quality of whatever it is you buy.

I'm an angled person, myself.

Sennheiser HD 800s

I bought these a while back; finally took a good picture of them. They are fantastic.

Been going back and forth about these for a good week now. Was going to get the Sennheiser 558 HD during a sale here but decided against them.

Anyway, are the Sonys suffocating? My current headphones are all cracked due to sweat/oils. I love bass though so I'll probably pick these up before long..

Oh, the MDRXB1000s have even bigger pads.

I can say they are built well, the only thing that concerns me in the future is the leather covering the top headband which feels a little loose. Other than that they are very comfy and can be worn for hours without giving you a headache. They are killer either way since they can be found on Amazon for about $80.

I also saw the Xb1000s earlier before buying these, they looked very good but I would have to import them and pay around 200-300 dollars which is a little steep for me.

I've seen other members posting picture of their rig with a portable amplify.

Can anyone tell me where i can get one of those and how much they normally are?

Why need 1?

Cheers and Thanks.

Thanks for the link!

Yes, it's stupidly expensive and generally I wouldn't recommend it if you want a good or even a moderate value. It's probably not even a good value for half the price. The same could be argued for the HD800s :)

However, I have a small obsession for bent plywood and I really like the look.

I would say that a stand like this is not something you purchase for the value - it's more like a work of art or an additional design element to augment the decor of your studio or office. :) If my office weren't nearly as cluttered as it is now and I wanted a nice accessory to store and display my shiny new P5's, I'd get them in a heartbeat. Well, when I come across some extra cash, that is. ;)

}I agree, I love those Omega stands. I would love to hear those HD800s, too.

What are you using to amp them?

I'm using the Schiit Asgard--crystal clear, it's quite amazing, especially for the price. I have it plugged into a Music Streamer II USB DAC which is plugged into my Mac Pro.

Here's a fuller picture, though the Music Streamer II is under the desk:

Nice setup. I have heard good things about the amp & Streamer. Although for some reason, I thought you might have a Woo Audio amp.

I haven't heard any of the Woo amps, but buying the Grado PS1000's are next on my list before big money amps. Frankly, the Asgard is pretty darn good. For audio quality, I can't imagine buying more. For feature set, such as multiple inputs, I can.

Trying these out for now...

These are the Jaybird JF3's right? How are they? I'm really interested in them and the reviews I've seen look promising. I'm looking at using them for running. How well do they stay in your ears with the new silicone attachments? How is the sound? And the battery life?

Thanks,
m&c

I should have a review up either by tonight or tomorrow. My first impressions when using the standard eartips were pretty frustrating because they kept falling out. However if I use the included gecko grip eartips, the experience was MUCH better. Sound quality is decent, bass a little on the weak side but it's better than any stereo bluetooth I've used and better than the standard iPod / iPhone headset.
