Just ordered a pair of beyerdynamic dt770 pro-80s, they should be coming in next week... i hope i can run them just off my mbp without an amp... i have my fingers crossed

I am very excited after reading some reviews for these headphones and they look very very confortable.

You are most likely going to want a DAC and/or Amp to drive them. I had my DT770/80's for a couple years and loved them. But I found that they definitely required something to drive them other than a laptop sound card. I drove mine with a Zaholu 1.3 DAC and a Little Dot II amp and they sounded amazing with that combo.

This is slightly disheartening bc I am currently offshore at a medical school and won't be able to get an Amp/DAC until december.

Are those your reccomendations if I do consider this?

From my Macbook Pro's optical out to a LiTe DAC-AH and then output through some homemade silver cables to a Heed Canamp

Then depending on my mood I'll either plug in my Sennheiser HD650s

Or my Grado RS2s

When I'm portable I have my Iphone and Shure E2Cs

Here's my setup for the macbook pro: Fiio E7 (bought on marketplace), and a pair of westone 3s which I think are a great deal for the price ;)

Using the larger eartips helps out the noise isolation a lot, so I can no longer hear people yelling at me ;)

How do you like the 3's? Been on the fence about upgrading my IEM for a while and these have been on the top of my list. Just worried that I won't hear the difference compared to what i have now.
