Sounds good, HP-800.

Went shopping with my dad and helped him choose a pair of these...

Listening to them makes me wish I had a decent set of headphones

I have the Apple In Ear ones, which while are miles better than the old buds/EarPods, still don't provide the quality I'd expect for the price.

I have had the B&W P3s for the past year (and must say I think they are brilliant). At the time, while the while the white pair are stunning to look at, I chose the black, as they are less noticeable and I travel to some challenging locations. Great design, (I love the way they fold away), lovely audio quality, and excellent build quality; comfortable and portable, too.

The P3s impressed me so much, that I subsequently - last August - bought the P5s, and they are easily the best (best audio, most stylish, exceedingly comfortable, and amazingly portable) headphones I have ever had in my life.

I'm surprised to see so many nice headphones connected to the mediocre output of iPhone sound chips without some sort of portable DAC.

There's only ~2 portable DACs in existence that work with the current iPhone. One is $400 and the other is $600. So, I'm not surprised.

Sennheiser hd600

Still my go to headphone. With the right amp and Dac it sings.

Just got this from my japan trip. Its the Audio Technica ES700. Its great.

How do you find those headphones? They look lovely. What is the sound like, and are they comfortable?

On threads such as this, they seem to be ranked with the B&W P5s (which I have, and which are excellent) and with the Grados and are seen as excellent high-end well-made headphones.

Never had chance to try out the P5s. But the es700 is quit good IMO. Excellent mids, clear highs and controlled base. Sounds good out of box and plug into ann ipod and such. But with a good pair of Amp and Dac. It really brings out the best of this headphone---the mids.

Just got these in today:

Looking for a decent portable DAC for my Macbook Air, got a pair of P5's but would love some sort of DAC for it, any recommendations? I'm a student from the UK, so student prices please! Yes I'm that cheap!
