well i didn't make it, but there are about 300 fabric markets here in shanghai and i found this little shop in one that specializes in leather products. you can bring a design to them and they'll make it for you, or bring an existing product and they can copy it for you (i had a different shop copy my Gap low rise worker jeans into three new pairs with my choice of fabric).

they're used to doing things like wallets and purses and shoes (in fact, you can look through a Gucci or Prada catalog, point at a purse or a pair of shoes, and they'll make it for you, with the logo if you want) but i convinced them to have a look at my ipod. the guy made some measurements, and i told him how i wanted a flippy case and he made this for me. he glued tiny magnets inside the leather on both ends so that when the flap closes it snaps shut and won't open. he even sewed an extra piece of leather on with a button for a belt clip and a small ring for a lanyard.

i swear they can make anything.

and it cost me about 8 bucks USD.

i could've chosen other types of leather, including alligator skin and all sorts of colours and patterns, but i decided to go with classic black, because it's elegant and it had the lowest price tag.

Wow, that sounds like one amazing shop. I wish I knew of a place like that here in Canada...

Well, I decided my life wasn't enough like a 1970's porno, so with the help of my always-awesome grandma and some god-awful furry fabric, I came up with my sexy case for my sexy blackbook:
