That was a genius idea. Great stuff.

Thanks. I had been casually looking for something to raise the speakers up off the desk, then my co-worker came to the rescue. It was easy to do and the improvement is phenomenal. Too bad the nearest IKEA is 4.5 hours away one way.

Hey, welcome to Macrumors forums! Question: how did you manage to get your remote to be stuck on your iMac frame like that?

Thanks for your answer,

Here the remote sticks to my BlackBook's screen, so I guess it has a small magnet. You can always put a magnet (strip) to the side of whatever so your remote sticks to it.

Aluminum however, is NOT magnetic.
Mainly due to the fact it contains NO iron. ;)

I'm aware of that, but the remote has a magnet and so does that portion of the display, where it is meant to go. The same way those magnets work with my PLASTIC iMac. It's what's inside that counts. But thanks for the presumptuous post all the same.

:p

Aluminum iMacs do not contain magnets designed to hold an Apple Remote.

My guess: he has velcro holding it on.

I just redid my whole study almost entirely out of ikea stuff, wish I had a better camera to capture the room but I'll give it a go with my point and shoot tomorrow and I'll post pics then.

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean but if you think you're proving some point, I'm missing it. My iMac has the magnetic goodness and it seems so do the new ones.
No the aluminium iMacs don't have such magnetic point. He's probably got a magnet or velcro stuck to the side of his iMac.

Seriously? I thought for sure...

Oh well, thanks then.

I think that other post(er) got off on the wrong foot with me by the cheeky post which assumed/implied that I didn't realize aluminium is not magnetic. I just had no idea Apple would take that feature away in later models. I don't know why I am surprised anymore, Apple are becoming complete twunts like that.

I'm very sorry about that, my intention wasn't to be a jerk. It was just my way of saying they don't have a magnet for the remote.

No worries. Sorry for inciting snark attacks. Call it a complication of text only communication.

I really had no idea Apple took that feature away, that really is stupid.

they were sold out of the long desk that would fit perfectly between the two.

Don't mind the set up/wires, i am home for spring break so didn't put time to making it all nice (and didn't bring home my monitors). taken down the verticals whenever i come home next

edit: damn that pic makes the wall look small lol

Got a lil question for those with a galant corner desk. Is it possible to just buy the wooden top without the frame? Because i already have that, but need to get a new top.
