You have A LOT of jackets that overlap in function.

The selection doesn't even make much sense. Did you just decide to buy what you want in all the different colours you like?

Absolutely I have a lot that overlap in function. you cant own as many jackets as I have and not have jackets that overlap in function. I am to embarrassed to even tell you how many I have, ill just say its a lot. As for the selection not making sense, the selection makes perfect sense considering my outdoors activities. If there is one thing I know about, its outdoor clothing and even though I have an absolute ton of the stuff, it all gets used. I have never purchased something and not used it.

Maybe if you could be a bit more specific in regards to just what doesn't make sense I would be able to address your concerns better. Again, it makes perfect sense.

I just got an email from Masseys regarding thier Winter clearance. I am really fighting not going there. There is some Mountain Hardware stuff I want, lol.

LOL... good one! And here in Nashville... that $40 would probably get you something long lasting too!

Hey, a Nashvegas-ite, eh? We're like neighbors.

On the subject of prostitution though: Here in Memphis, the things one might acquire from that rendezvous are nothing pleasing -- that's for sure!

well I'm getting $450 this weekend for working event staff at a volleyball tournament, so I was looking into some monitors. I found this one ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254026 ) and was wondering what people thought of it. I'm not a graphic designer or anything so the fact that the colors won't be 100% true doesn't bother me too much. So what do u think, good deal or not?

I bought it two months ago... I didn't like it... in fact the refresh rate was giving me a bad headache compared to my last one... I figured out that it was really just a HDTV set (taking in an NTSC signal as well!!) with the tuner taken out and masquerading as a monitor over the HDMI - theres no DVI port.

I re-sold it on ebay for a profit since the price went up and I felt a lot better. Heard good reviews and whoever I sold it to loved it. I decided to spend a bit more money and get a more quality monitor.

That is after all why we spend the extra for Apple...

What I meant by the selection not making sense is that, to me, owning 3 jackets that serve nearly the same function doesn't make sense.

And yes, I know outdoor clothing as well. The only thing I own duplicates of are Windblocker-lined jackets, but only because one is a bit thinner and has a tighter fit (most significant difference), while the other one is something I wear as a fleece (it's like a 200 fleece anyway) underneath a jacket.

In regards to all of the jackets that I own, I have a lot more than 3 that serve the same function. As for it making sense, well just agree to disagree. Do you own more than 1 suit? More than one pair of boots? More than one pair of the same type of shoes? More than one baseball cap? More than 1 pair of blue jeans? Its no different than any of those. I enjoy having a wide selection of jackets just as I enjoy having a wide selection of blue jeans and a wide selection of sunglasses. Hell I have bought 2 of the same jacket before, just in different colors. Plus while many of my jackets serve the same purpose, they also have characteristics to them that make them very different from one another and thus make them suited for specific conditions better than some of the others. For example I have 9 Hard Shell jackets and believe it or not they are actually very different from one another even tho they are designed to serve the same purpose. Some handle soaking wet conditions much better than others, some breath much better than others, some are warmer than others, and some are just more comfortable to wear than others.

I actually used to field test jackets and clothing for Outdoor Research and Marmot. I used to get free gear every season so I became accustomed to having new jackets every year and it was something I really enjoyed. I dont actively field test anymore but I do still enjoy that equipment aspect and having a lot of jackets to choose from is just something I have become accustomed to having. The bottom line is that I am active outdoors all year round and in every condition imaginable. On top of that I enjoy having a large selection of jackets to choose from. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having multiple jackets that serve the same purpose.

In all honesty the jackets I just purchased are not as similar as your making them out to be at all.

Bought these tires & wheels a while ago, but just paid to have them mounted and balanced today. Putting them on the Titan next week, after it's lifted.

Sorry if you took what I said in an insulting way. It's not the way I meant it. ;)

When I said your choices were a bit odd, it was coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't see jackets in much the same way as shirts, jeans, socks, etc, where you buy lots and lots of similar jackets (e.g. short, waist-level down jackets). I don't buy duplicates. It doesn't mean that I don't understand the need for different jackets for different situations though.

But again, I didn't mean you were some sort of weirdo. Everyone has something they like to sink their money into.

FYI, the 2 softshell jackets I own are from Arcteryx (which I got for cost price minus 30%), and a TNF Cipher fitted one. They're pretty much the same, except for fit.
