Sorry if you took what I said in an insulting way. It's not the way I meant it. ;)

When I said your choices were a bit odd, it was coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't see jackets in much the same way as shirts, jeans, socks, etc, where you buy lots and lots of similar jackets (e.g. short, waist-level down jackets). I don't buy duplicates. It doesn't mean that I don't understand the need for different jackets for different situations though.

But again, I didn't mean you were some sort of weirdo. Everyone has something they like to sink their money into.

FYI, the 2 softshell jackets I own are from Arcteryx (which I got for cost price minus 30%), and a TNF Cipher fitted one. They're pretty much the same, except for fit.

Absolutely not. I wasn't insulted at all. I was just trying to explain the way I think about jackets. I think of them no differently than I do my blue jeans and sunglasses. So no apology or explanation needed. Everyone is different and again I am a self confessed outdoor equipment and sunglass junkie. I am also starting to get really bad with watches and knives too, lol

I am actually not a big fan of Arc'Terex. They make really nice jackets, I just never liked the way their jackets fit. They really go for that snug and articulated fit and I like my jackets a little more roomy. My favorite jackets are without a single doubt 66 North. IMO they are hands down the best jackets being made today. If it weren't for the price I would be over there right now ordering more. Thankfully they dont have a winter clearance because if they did I would order the whole damn store. The next time you need a jacket you should honestly give them a look. If I had to pick just one jacket out of my entire collection to keep, it would without a doubt be a 66 North jacket. That company just really gets it.

$400 (pays to go to school with the manager) ;)

Previously bought a Canon SX110is but it was performing well below my needs so I just returned it.

I have 14 days to fall in love with the D40 :D

My current storage situation consists of 3 external drives with only 420GB total capacity and the internal (250GB) MacBook HD.
Free space for the externals is about 2GB and 10GB for the MacBook. (which makes it extra-slow ...)

To have some breathing room I just bought these thingies:

  • 4x WD 1TB HDDs

  • 1x Intel SS4200

Sorry, pics aren't my own as I haven't picked them up yet (but will on tuesday wednesday)

Depends on the type of jacket, no?

The reason Arcteryx jackets are tight are because they're predominantly climber's jackets. It's also why a lot of their shell jackets only go up to the waist. It gives you a bit more freedom to move if there are no saggy bits in the arms, hips, etc. It's also why the hood on Arcteryx jackets is designed so well. Also, the wicking properties of a jacket improve if it's close to your skin, so I like them to fit really close. The problem is that if you don't have the correct build, it's not for you.

Also, it's a bit constricting if you have a lot of layers on.

On the other hand, if I'm just outside doing regular things, a longer jacket is better. I have a 3-ply Arcteryx jacket, and I really wish I bought a 2-ply instead, perhaps from another brand.

Anyway, I'll check it 66 North. ;)

Sapphire is better than Tanqueray I think.. more subtle, better in a martini. Jameson's is made for straight up or rocks, but 'tis coolness however it be consumed.

You talking about Cincinnati or the one in Pennsylvania?

Cincy is about 2 hours for me, but I make the trip twice a year and bring home at least 1 new goody every time. I'm hoping to have my whole room redecorated by the end of 2009. I started last summer with my Jonas desk + floor lamp + table lamp and some decorations, second trip I came back with Lack shelves to match the desk and some stuff for the kitchen.

Ikea is my place I go to treat myself (with exception of the Apple store) lol
Oh, and half/chicken with mashed potatoes FTW! Swedish meatballs don't stand a chance against the roasted chicken!

Did that a few years ago. Such a great game. Make sure you get Conker's Bad Fur Day. Best N64 game ever.
