If only there was some sort of technology that would let you have more than one document open on your computer screen at once, like maybe a movie and a word processing document... ;)

You honestly would prefer watch a movie on something OTHER than full-screen on a notebook?

Boo on that.

I picked me up these bad boys...Sapphire is better than Tanqueray I think.. more subtle, better in a martini. Jameson's is made for straight up or rocks, but 'tis coolness however it be consumed.

A man after my own tastes! I myself just picked up a fresh 750mL bottle of Bombay for a movie date I have tonight - mine was running a bit low. She enjoys a martini, as do I, so it's best to be prepared.

And Jameson is simply the best.

My first L lens and while it might be the L lens of choice for the poor man, it is an L lens nonetheless. Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM. Ordered just before the prices on these things started going up.

Non-IS so I have to abide quite religiously to 1/(focal length x crop factor) rule of hand held shutter speed which even with aperture wide open does not cut it in anything approaching low light. But feed it enough light and it is a thing of unquestioned beauty - insanely sharp photographs with very rapid silent focusing. Not too bad in terms of size for a white lens either :)

What a bizarre resolution..

Yea a 16:9 ratio screen is a little unusual.

Well a 24" widescreen lcd has a width of 1920 pixels, and a height of 1200 pixels, so the width of the 23" is greater, and the height is less.

At first I thought the same but then i realized that it was a true 16:9 resolution. I wouldnt be surprised if this resolution becomes a regular thing. I also figured the 199 price tag wasnt bad either.

In case anyone was wondering, the 16:9 screen has 3.3% more pixels than a 24" 1920x1200 and a 1 inch smaller display (diagonally).

Does the higher density make pictures look any clearer? Also, is the backlighting even? I've seen a few of these displays showing up (Dell offers one at the same res as well)

The backlight is far from even and mine makes a horrible whine unless on max or min brightness.

Yeah, I had a Samsung 21.5" 16:9 panel that ran at 1920x1080 and while I was able to get to look pretty good after much tweaking and calibration, it was still a TN panel and suffered from uneven backlight, etc. You get what you pay for often times in Flat Panels. My new HP has H-IPS and the difference is amazing. The price also quite different..

No, but I'm pretty sure I could have a movie playing in a bigger-than-iPhone-screen window and still do some work alongside it. That would avoid me having to bolt my iPhone to the side of my laptop like the previous poster and give me a larger picture to boot.
