Actually if you have a bowed base on your heatsink a small rice-sized drop or a small line works really well. Spreading it out over the top of the chip is usually the worst way to set it up, though of course if you use the stock heatsink you have bigger issues anyway

Totally agree, but I just couldn't live with specs of the 13" and I really wanted to stay with that screen size. Just bought supplies for bookbinding (binding board, paper, glue, etc.), some misc. supplies (x-acto blades, bone folder, newsprint pad), and a couple slices of pizza for a late lunch.

Way too much. Only supposed to put a thin line on the CPU in relation to the core, and then let the weight of the heat sink spread it out evenly.
