Sony VAIO Z
2.66GHz Intel Core i7 - 620M Processor
4GB RAM (2GB x 2); DDR3-1066
256GB Solid State Drive in RAID 0
Nvidia GT 330M with 1GB VRAM and Intel HD Graphics (Hybrid Graphics System)
13.1" (1600x900) LED
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Carbon Fiber Casing
6.5 hours battery, with 10 hour extended
3.07 lbs.

Was planning to go with the new 13" MBP, but was really disappointed in the new specifications. I really wanted a portable laptop, and the 15" was too bulky for my travel needs.

Nice specs but still no OSX, i would have went with a Macbook but that's just my opinion. You can't beat Apple's tech support/store-home repair and quality of course :)

Just ordered 8GB Crucial ram

No trust. What you have on that picture is way too much! It should be thinner than a sheet of paper.

Actually if you have a bowed base on your heatsink a small rice-sized drop or a small line works really well. Spreading it out over the top of the chip is usually the worst way to set it up, though of course if you use the stock heatsink you have bigger issues anyway:p

Totally agree, but I just couldn't live with specs of the 13" and I really wanted to stay with that screen size. I've been a long enough user of Macs to know their level of support and product quality, so we'll just see how well this computer compares in the long run.

How much did the 8GB ram set you back? I'm thinking of picking up a kit myself.

Wow thats cheap, I remember when I ordered 8GB last year and it was like $800. No tax for me on Amazon either = WIN.

That picture of the Vaio Z is the first model, which uses C2D.
You're right, I didn't even notice that. Thanks for pointing it out!

Just bought supplies for bookbinding (binding board, paper, glue, etc.), some misc. supplies (x-acto blades, bone folder, newsprint pad), and a couple slices of pizza for a late lunch.
