I've always wanted a remote controlled plane, but even the cheap ones cost a lot.

@riotgear: Do you do shows with it? Is there a way for you to gain back some of the investment, or is it a hobby? I think it's awesome that you can afford something you obviously enjoy so much, yet is quite spendy. It looks so real when in flight. You should make some action movie scenes with it. :)

Damn, that things pretty sweet!! I hope it shoots those rockets too!

If I remember correctly from my rc flying days, under the AMA rules, having projectiles is strictly prohibited. Of course, not everyone follows the rules, or is not an AMA member.

Nice plane btw, I love the attention to detail on it. Any closer/bigger pics?

I myself stick to the onroad scene :D

Thanks for the compliments on the landings. :)

digitalnicotine- It's a hobby for me, so unfortunately I don't recoup any money. I build, paint, and fly the planes and that is rewarding enough. I do fly at airshows and RC Jet events all for fun.

rezenclowd3, you're correct about the AMA rules. The ordnance on my F-18 does not launch from the plane. That would be cool though. :) The pictures I posted are 1024x768. I don't have anything larger than that.

Here's some video of the biggest west coast rc jet event: http://www.ca-jets.com/Theater/Theater.html

Here
Ever crash one? Is it 20k down the drain or just a new body kit?

I checked out some of his other videos on youtube. There is one where some part fails and it crashes. I can't imagine how mad at myself if I did that. So for now, I'll just stick to paper airplanes .

I haven't had a crash with one my jets yet *knock on wood*. I've had the turbine quit on me once and that resulted in damage to the fuse because i wasn't able to make it back to the runway.

The plane in the youtube video belonged to my friend. Everything was destroyed. Those are bad days. :D

I was joking (kind of) about the missiles :p
Very cool video though! It must be so fun to fly one of those things, but I'd be terrified about landing it! So much potential for it to go wrong and send $20k down the crapper!
