Just ordered this Chinese 19th century decorated jade box, certified to be from between 1850 and 1895.

This I have already complimented in the other thread; it is indeed, quite lovely, and has a very striking colour and depth of hue....

Are you going to use them as a knock for your espresso pucks?

Ah, now that's funny. Touché…..

Is that the new one? I just got the 2.2ghz 256gb version. I believe it's the stock model below that. I really wanted that one with 512gb. But it was out of my budget.

Yeah, was waiting for the price drop and slight spec bump. I really needed the 512GB SSD, and wanted the 15". Dedicated graphics was also a bit of a bonus. great computer none the less, whatever the spec! Enjoy :)

Nope...already have a Ming Dynasty knock box. Those Chinese know how to make espresso accessories!

Those tea specialists have mastered the manufacture of espresso accessories? Really?

Well, yes, they are quite expert in identifying the market needs of other, more alien, societies, and attempting to meet them, this is, perhaps, true…..

You know, I just assume that anything Shrink buys, must be for use with coffee in some way, shape or form.

Nah...I lied. It's not Ming Dynasty...it really Xia Dynasty. Their espresso expertise goes WAY back!:p

Shrink, I am (or was, or used to be) an historian……..the expertise of the Xia dynasty in matters relating to espresso goes "WAAAY" back, now, does it?

While I won't request a source in support of this or to substantiate this, (and am willing to admit that there are vast vistas of historical knowledge of which I remain blissfully, and entirely unaware), it does strike me that this sort of fascinating historical footnote is the type of thing that some enterprise, (perhaps SB?) might have made a casual reference to, a sort of aside, while blandly discoursing on the merits of their (burnt) espresso offerings?

I was wondering about windows tablets, and this was pretty cheap.

But couldn't use it without this because the wires come out of the bottom.

I've got to say that tablet is a great laptop replacement but I can't use it for a 'tablet' cause it needs to be hooked up to stuff to use its potential. It is fun to play with (he says while posting with his iPad Air )

I guess if you look at lackluster performance at high specs and malware as a good thing, sure. Not to mention some of the longest charge times ever for a phone. I could charge my 4S twice in the time it took the M7 to charge. It drained just about as fast too. Throw in the two faulty Ones I got. Kinda hard to like anything about it.

Interesting i have a note3 and have never had any issues, just lucky i guess.
I'm taking my iPad air back tomorrow because it lacks little stuff i'm use to like predictive text which i have on my note pro 12.2, but i will admit i'm real interested in what the new iphones will bring.

She arrived this afternoon from America

And here it is the Bell and Howell 414 Standard 8mm Cine Camera. I have just bought some film to try it, hopefully by going up to Goathland up in the North York Moors, which was the filming location of the ITV series Heartbeat.

The new OnePlus One arrived for me today. Lovely phone, and upgrading from my iPhone 4S. Only things I really miss are iCloud, and app icon notifications.

I think it is a very beautiful piece of work, I love jade...and it will, incidentally, be used it as a ring box.

Why does anyone enjoy art and other beautifully made objects?

Exactly. An awareness of, and appreciation for, beautiful things can enhance one's general appreciation of life, and can add immeasurably to the quality of one'e life and enjoyment of same.

Because, maybe, he likes it.

Sometimes, that is all that is necessary, and that is a good enough reason in itself….

I just kind of assume, that if someone buys something, its because they like it. Save for items that are obviously needed of course.
