Very, very nice; where was it made? I love well made classic furniture made from wood, and I must say that I rather like the understated, and plain - yet impressively sturdy looking - design of your solid oak cabinet.

Can't find any markings so the quest for the source isn't looking good. It has been in the same family for three generations without modification or painting though. Any recommendations on cleaning up the finish?

I like it! Looks like an Amish style cabinet.

What exactly do you mean when you say cleaning up the finish? Is it worn down or just too aged for you? A few layers of stain and then a lacquer will make it look brand new... And right out of a pier one catalog, which I do not like.

Fiskars 36" Super Splitting Axe

xpq049.jpg

I had some big trees cut down and was left with a pile of short logs. I gave away some, but now I'm splitting some into firewood and selling it. Just for fun and exercise.

Regular axes are not so good for this job, a "maul" which is a special axe design with a heavy 6 or 8 pound head is better.

Fiskars and some other companies came out with these new axes that have a light head and fiberglass handle, they are less tiring to use and many people prefer them. The Fiskars axe head weighs only 4.5 pounds. I think my axe is the same design as their "X27" axe which gets rave reviews.

Kinetic energy is Mass * Velocity**2 which indicates velocity is more important than mass. Seems to work.

Now I need a red plaid shirt. ;)

I signed up for a couple more driving events this year. The advanced car control clinic is the week before Audifest at Sonoma Raceway. The BMW club is renting the 5 mile track at Thunderhill, so that should be intense.

edit: Oh, I am also doing a stud conversion on my BMW, so I ordered a stud kit from Bimmerworld. I also ordered some locking lugs on Ebay. They're from Project Kics, are zinc plated steel, and the key uses a 17mm wrench like the other lug nuts. I wish they (or anyone really) offered the open end lug nuts in black. Oh well...

edit 2: Add one more track school, the weekend following the weekend at Thunderhill. This time I can sample the fresh pavement at Buttonwillow.

Never can have too many used cans of Raid

I could post a picture here but is not really need it. Mosquito spray in Houston Texas is a necessity- even at five dollars a can - it is a sweet deal to be able to kill the bloodsucking !%#,?€
I bought 3 cans 2 weeks ago and 3 more 2 days ago.
They really like me. A lot.

Here it is in a temporary garage location. The cardboard on the side of the black SL was placed under the car to check for leaks.

What year and model? I hear those older cars are hard to find parts for. I have also heard those cars are very expensive to fix even after all these years. If I were a great mechanic with all the proper tools, I would drive it daily just because. It would be interesting to research the history of this Ferrari and see if it has any historical value or who the original owner was. Those cars were made in small quantities and only the super rich could afford them. This car might be valuable. Those old cars still get a lot of looks from the ladies.

Just gifted a pair of tickets to a local production of Rocky Horror to my parents. It has been one of my mom's favorite musicals for many years.

'86 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 Euro Spec that has been federalized and DOT approved. On the rarer side, but not as valuable as say a Ferrari 308. It is a 2+2 so its practical :D

Having seen that they have some very attractive new covers, and in celebration of passing the halfway point in borrowed copies of the books, I bought all of the Song of Ice and Fire as it currently stands.

I bought the first 3 books, struggling half way into the first book which is not like me at all.
